I've used them for years and they have always been top notch. Honest, responsive, and reasonable.

Shores of Leech Lake Resort

Shores of Leech Lake Resort

My family stayed at this resort for about a week in June and it was a great experience. We stayed…read morein cabin 3, which allows dogs, and we had a great time! The owners of this resort are very nice and friendly. You can rent out one of their six cabins or a spots for an RV. They have a Lodge right away when you get to the resort where you can check in and out as well as buy beer on tap. They also carry other beverages, ice cream, convince items, and also a variety of other things. They also have free coffee there in the mornings. This resort is right on Leech Lake and has its own private boat ramp attached to their marina. Right by the marina, they also have a wood fired oven available for their guest to use, and you will definitely want to use it. While we stayed here, we used the wood fired oven twice and it was amazing. They also have canoes and kayaks for guests to use, which were very fun. They have a small beach for people and also a small dog beach. A lighthouse is also located by the dog beach area. Overall this was a great resort to stay at for vacation. It had everything we needed and you can't beat the location. Being able to sit in the morning and view the lake is truly great.

A few years ago, I was riding my 1995 Jet Ski when it just shut off. I called Bertha Boatworks but…read morewas told they don't work on anything that old. I guess that's understandable and, fortunately, I was able to repair it myself. They have a boat launch that is not for public use. Ugh, this would be so convenient for me because they are so close by (but it's also understandable). Fuel is the least expensive on the lake (hooray!). During some weekends in the Summer, they host a food truck with some outdoor seating and games like corn hole. It's a nice concept and we have eaten there once but skipped it the last few years because the food truck worker/owner was playing Jason Aldean music and sporting his t-shirt (If you're not sure who he is, just Google "racist country singer" and you'll see him near the top of your search results). Facts: The "Try That in a Small Town" music video by Jason Aldean was filmed at the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee. This location has a history of racial violence, including a 1927 lynching and 1946 race riots. The video also incorporates news footage of protests and riots, which led to controversy and CMT pulling the video from rotation. If you skip the food truck too, you won't be missing anything special. The food was pricey and exceptionally basic, 'drunk people food'. If you're looking for a good value on some good food, it's totally worth it to enjoy a boat ride to the DQ in Crosslake instead.

Sigh. If Chase on the Lake was a stone's throw away from my unruly Silicon Valley home, I'd be here…read moreand I'd be learning how to jet ski just for that. This hotel is part of a historic landmark in Walker, Minnesota. When you are visiting and folks ask you where you are staying and you mention, "Chase on The Lake" , their response is always positive - like "wow, that's a really great place!". I never got any, "Wow, wait until you're awake in your room at 3 AM." or anything of that sort. Situated on along Leech Lake and in the middle of downtown Walker, it's very easy to come down and take a walk around the area. I stayed in a room right above the restaurant on the first floor, with a lake view (every hour is a different "wow" as the sun makes its way around the lake). It's rather convenient staying in that room because one can always check out the restaurant deck by looking out of the window (in case it may be crowded). You can walk down the stairs from there to the restaurant / deck. Just be aware of their hours as the door at the end of the stairwell will be locked when the restaurant is closed. There is always another way to the deck and that is through walking out and by the side of the Copper Spa building (road leads to the dock too), which is still a part of the hotel. Parking in front of the hotel is ample but there were weekdays where it seemed like there were a lot of cars - must be because it was in the summer and people just love the lake. Going back to the spa - they aren't open daily. There is a pamphlet by the front desk for the spa. I made the mistake of assuming they're open daily on the week and missed out on a potentially soothing deep-tissue massage (or pedicure!). There is a little pool where kiddie birthday parties are often held. Speaking of front desk, they're always very cordial EXCEPT for this young man during this one evening who looked like he couldn't care any less about guests coming in or out - I figured he may be new or just tired of life (at 18 LOL). My room was clean, well-equipped with the basics like a hair dryer, microwave, a fridge and bathroom toiletries . The housekeeping does not come in on a daily basis. They're on-demand. You take your bag of trash and leave it outside your door and the housekeeper will pick it up in the morning. The shower water is warm enough and just right. Despite being a very old hotel, my room did not have any of that old and musty "odor" , not even the hallways nor the stairwell. The TV, however, was pretty complicated, standard and nothing like the Marriott, etc. where the TV was smart, HD and easy to navigate. It wasn't a very big deal though, but it's always a plus if the TV was HD and smart nowadays. I must say, this review is a nice suggestion for a bedtime read at the Chase on the Lake, because at this point, I'm so sure you'd have snored off. I hope the pictures entice you though!
