My Pop started working with Mr. Humphrey early on, before the grocery store you see today. I've seen a photo that shows them in front of what must be the original store. Mr. Son must've been quite keen on my Pop's incredible work ethic and potential, for they forged a relationship and in the mid 60s, they partnered to open up a Son's Super Market in Graysville. Unfortunately, after a few good years, my Pop's store in Graysville started suffering, first from the price freeze that Nixon slammed the country with, then the wave of mega grocery stores like Food World was the final nail in the coffin. Which, btw, makes the nearly century old Son's in Jasper even more incredible. Customer loyalty. Mr. Son used to come by the store in Graysville and from a young age, I was always very attentive to the man and his quiet demeanor. And oh the coffee that man drank. Must've been Red Diamond because I'm now the young age Mr. Humphrey was when he was taken from us and I've the same java habit. I've always loved the store in Jasper, the one right on 78.

In between, I did check out this Walmart to find that the restrooms were clean, the store was okay stocked - a few spots where stuff was out of stock - and the parking lot had some trash here and there. The piggly Wiggly in Cordova, AL is the finest establishment. It is conveniently placed in the…read moremiddle of town. The parking lot is always clean and there are enough parking places for all. The inside of the store is kept very clean by the employees, and the bathroom is "always clean and fresh" (i might add). As you open your car door you are greeted with the sounds of music from the overhead speaker; not so loud thou you can't have a conversation with someone on the sidewalk! They always have an assortment of seasonal plants for sale, and displayed so neatly on the front sidewalk and just before you enter the doors they always have a seasonal decoration to greet you and it is always beautiful! When you walk in, you are greeted by the employees with a smile and hello And buggies always conveniently located outside and right inside the door. I have never seen buggies next to cars left outside! They are always where they are assigned to be! The shelves are stacked neatly and full of all items and if they don't sell anything you are looking for, you can let them know and if they can get it, the next time you come it's in, it's on the shelf!! I buy all of my meat at the Piggly Wiggly Cordova, because it is the most affordable and good, high quality beef, and steaks! They have an enormous selection of meats to choose from. During the summer there are always many assortments of fresh vegetables to choose from, and fruits as well! During the winter months they are able to have the same, which makes me very happy to have a good fresh vegetable dinner in those cold months! I would say it is on the smaller end in size but seems to have all of the basics! If you are looking for something super specific this may not be the location to try out. It is always clean and the staff is always very friendly whenever I go!
