If you wanna wait for the following on a Monday morning go ahead and give it more than a star 1. 20 minutes In line for prescription a called for ahead of time 2. 20 minutes Went to a different line since there was an Issue with insurance, turns out 1 medication needed a doctors prescription 3. Told me they're out of stock. I asked them to call the other wallgreens, and they said that they cannot, and that I should go over there. Guess what... see line #4 4. 30 minutes Commute to the other nearest Walgreens and wait in line. Westlake to San Pedro Asked me why I didn't receive the other one at the other store when in their system it said they were in stock. 5. Was told to Wait 30 minutes (not realistic since it took less than 10 minutes) and paid for the prescriptions 6. 5 minutes Went shopping for one item. Had to go back in line. Although this time debated between the pharmacy and the front to pay for my items. Selected the front Also, I have to say just to purchase an item, you have to input all of that information. Can they simplify that? In summary, not sure, spending that much time in Walgreens is realistic? CVS please don't disappoint read more

Located in a busy strip plaza but at least there is an adequate amount of parking. This Walgreens is stocked with all the standard offerings that you would expect but I think they way they have the pharmacy section organized should be a lot better. Right in the middle of the cold/flu aisle is the line of people waiting to get serviced at the pharmacy counter. So you have a bunch of people trying to get their medication all congregated in the same area, with people that are there just to get some OTC cold medicine having to reach around them to get stuff off the shelves. And while I have no issue with people not wearing masks anymore, if you're going to be hacking up a lung while waiting in line for your medication - wear the damn mask. Gross. read more

My epic pharma-tragedy begins with a Friday afternoon call to the Westlake Walgreens Pharmacy to ensure that they had in stock a somewhat difficult to get pain med for my elderly husband. He was suffering from a combo of long term chronic pain symptoms resulting from 7 problematic spinal surgeries as well as several other afflictions including a dysfunctional GI system (exasperated by several failed surgeries), heart irregularities requiring surgical intervention, severe full body arthritis (a bonus gift from over 17 orthopedic surgeries including shoulders, knees , elbows, hips and feet) and migraine seizures. This script had been successfully filled by Rite Aid over the years but due to government induced litigation and other financial burdens, Rite Aid is no longer maintaining inventories on a variety of much needed pharmaceuticals. Long term customers like myself were encouraged to visit their competitors for script fulfillment. After several phone calls to the Westlake Walgreens from his prescribing doctor, I called in myself to be told I could come into the store to pick up his pain meds. After waiting over 30 minutes in line, I was told insurance had rejected his claim. I said my husband needed it anyway so I would pay cash. I asked if I could use GoodRx for a discount and the clerk quoted me a price of $155. and told me to return in half an hour. RiteAid would charge $60. for the same meds, but I was willing to pay so that my husband would not have to suffer. I came back in half an hour and was told to come back again in an hour. Still my husband's pain meds were not available. I was told to come back the next morning. The next morning I met Kimberly, the Walgreens pharmacist from hell. She announced that despite what I was told the day before, she was not giving my husband his pain meds until Sunday (the following day). She didn't care that the Doctor had asked for the pain meds to be dispensed on Friday and that the Walgreens pharmacist the Doctor spoke with had agreed to do so. It is now Saturday and I cannot reach the Doctor, and because these are pain meds I cannot ask for the prescription to be transferred anywhere else. On Saturday night my husband woke up screaming in pain and I had no pain meds for him. Since Walgreens is open 24 hours I tried calling just after midnight to see if I could come in then and get his meds and was told come in at 7AM. At 7AM Sunday I was back to face Kimberly, the pharmacist from hell. On Sunday, Kimberly arbitrarily and unceremoniously withheld the prescription, claiming she could not allow me to pay cash for the prescription--it must be processed through his insurance. This is never true in California. Kimberly left my husband in an inhumane state of pain because she could. The pharmacy manager wasn't available over the weekend and the store manager could not force Kimberly to release any prescription she "wasn't comfortable" with - no matter my husband's comfort! On Monday, his doctor apologized for his suffering and found a CVS to provide his pain meds immediately. Moral of the story: "Don't give Westlake Walgreens your business!!" read more

This is by far the consistently worst pharmacy experience. A general "can't be bothered" attitude pervades the staff and they don't really seem to care that one might actually need the prescriptions they're processing. I've had multiple issues with this location keeping scripts in an "in progress" status for days, only for them to abruptly cancel it, all without reaching out or giving any explanation. When asked why this particular Walgreens (a very large, 24 hours pharmacy) seemed unable to get the same medications available elsewhere transferred in, the pharmacist became huffy and insisted that I call around to other locations to find the medication I needed.--forget about any sense of contriteness for delaying filling a medication that I needed. Waited in line only to be told I have to go to the other counter to confirm insurance. Waited in said line until they got my insurance info, then was told to go back to the other counter once my Rx was ready. Currently in the ORIGINAL line (which is even longer now) in order to pick up my Rx. I've been here for an hour now... Lesson learned to run elsewhere. Hands down worst experience of my life with a pharmacy. Had to come back 3 times over 7 hours because the quoted time was inaccurate. The second time I was told there was 2 prescriptions to be filled before my mine, come back in an hour. I came back almost 2 hours later and it still was not filled and they seemed surprised like I hadn't been in the store 2 hours earlier . When I asked why? I was told to sit in waiting area. They work so hard to train their employees, even when they are off the clock and see some rookie move done by an employee they take the time out of their days to point out the issues right away, they have a niche of problem solving! The pharmacist are cool as Hell/heaven IDk they are very cool and professional! The ones from my old review were some random females that don't exist there anymore! Very clean spot, it's spotless! No more tobacco here as the law changed in this area and they blocked pharmacies from selling cigarettes cigars and what not (tobacco) Great spot so many things are at a great price! Love this spot! Worst pharmacy experience ever. You wait in line for Pharmacy drop off. You gave the person the medication as well as insurance information. She tells you that she will expedite the process. Hoping it will be faster. So you wait in the pick up line. Then, once you are in pick up line, they can't find your information so they send you back to drop off line. I had to do the process again. For some odd reason, these people are running around as if they need two people to help one customer. This place is a mess. I don't even know how they are still operating. This Walgreen was my go to when I was younger but now, it was a mistake sending my meds here. You have people complaining left and right and yet management doesn't do anything about it. Walgreens is suppose to be open 24/7! Don't be fooled. Last night, I had trying meds for my post op pain control but I could get any person to answer the phones. I was in the hospital trying to assure, I have the meds for severe pain. I was on "hold", for the 2 customers ahead for 25 mins. I was then told they were 24/7 closing early! This is not the first time that this 24/7!closes early. I called several times to get updates from anyone but again the "hold time for 1 customer ahead" were absurd! Finally I get a real person, can't give me any information about the "real pharmacy hours today". Now, at home, I am so stressed that my son in law waiting for the prescription that was sent at 6 and is still not done at 9:30. He is told to wait or he will not be able to go the meds. 9:50 he is told that they can not release to him. I sent the photos of the Home Orders Post Op care. They said they are closing at 10 pm. I don't what my son in law, the medication were release to him. Customer service at this location has never been great but the 24/7 has kept me as a customer. I gave 2 stars because a previous time, a female was kind that to rush a home delivery of meds that were supposed to have picked up. If you have to use this Walgreen WestLake location, VERIFY THE OPEN HOUR! Also, their in store wait line is horrible. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS WALGREENS LOCATION. Walgreens is definitely still open during S-I-P regulations. They have enforced 6ft apart tape on the floor which is great. I primarily come here for the pharmacy, or last minute items/snacks like laundry detergent or gum.. if I wanna splurge I do like to check their Makeup section which seems to always be stocked up...ahh... Walgreens is Walgreens it is what it is, it is what you expect to be honest...you really can not expect much out of Walgreens unless you really need help for something essential then good luck... This is the closest 24 hours Walgreen nearby and parking is not crazy at night (parking can be hard to find if you come on a weekend afternoon). It's a decent size store compare to other stores around and you can pretty much find everything you need from a drug and beauty store. From snacks to medicine to photo services, they got you covered. read more

This review is only for their pharmacy regarding the process of picking up prescriptions. As we all know their is a labor shortage coupled with the closures of a number of Walgreens throughout the Bay Area primarily due to the loss of retail theft. Like most Walgreens, this pharmacy is no longer 24 hours with even shorter hours on the weekend. Using the Walgreen's App, a refill prescription was submitted on a weekday morning with a response text stating it would be ready by 2 pm. It was not until I went at 5:45 pm to check in the status did I found out it was still in the queue to be processed. Knowing that I was there in person, the pharmacy cashier said it would be ready in 15-20 mins. Unfortunately it was not until an hour later (6:45pm) that I finally received my order. Rather than get upset and cause a scene as to the long wait, I asked to speak to the person in charge of the Pharmacy where I purposely spoke to him away from everyone else waiting in line (there were at least 10-12) people by the time I left and made a recommendation to update the text messages to state a more realistic pick up time from the initial 2 pm. I might add, a second text was received around the 2 pm time saying there was a delay but no update in that message with a revised ready time. I placed a +$80 order of portraits from the Photo Center. I ordered varying sizes, 8X10, 5x7, 4x6, and wallet sizes. These are important portraits that I wanted various copies of. Unfortunately when I received the final product, there were vertical streak lines in 95% of the photo order. Streak lines across the faces of these very important portraits. :( I came back to ask the photo dept to reprint and when they did, it still had streak lines. They didn't offer any consolation, besides giving 10 walgreen points. Extremely disappointed. Needless to say, I will not make any photo orders with Walgreens again. Waste of money and time. Came in to buy a specific lotion that I need for my psoriasis and was shocked to see that it was $17.99 shelf price and nearly $20 after taxes. I bought it because it wasn't in stock anywhere else. At home, I went online to see if maybe the price was actually off and to my surprise, the price on their website was under $13! I called the store and was transferred to a manager who informed that their online prices are lower than their in store ones. I was dumb founded that my 4oz lotion has a $4-5 dollar mark up in store. This is the worst pharmacy I've ever had the displeasure of using. If you plan to fill a prescription here, don't. They refuse to fill and never receive prescriptions, no matter the number of times your doctor will send it through. Staff is rude and not understanding. Not only this, but the line for the pharmacy is always at least five people deep and it will take you an hour of standing in line for you to even make it to your turn (which is really fun when you're expecting a prescription and get turned away because the staff won't look for it). I highly don't recommend using the Westlake pharmacy. I talked to 4 representative regarding my prescription being refilled as well as informing them on my doctor change and neither of them could help assist instead kept transferring me to another line. In total I was on hold for an hour and 30 minutes and by the time I got ahold of someone they decided to hang up on me not once but twice! First time here! Signed up online for the Covid Vaccination at this store. From check-in to the vaccination; the people were courteous and helpful. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant. I recall one person, Leonard, who administered the vaccination shot neatly with barley a pin prick and it was over.
