I felt safe, cared for, valued and respected. 2 days of treatments at the spa were top notch. Amazing service by Eduardo, Juan, Leslie, Carmen, Denise, and Alberto. Some people say the treatments are expensive but I found that they were comparable to any nice, luxurious and exclusive day spa I have ever been to. It was worth every penny. Tons of pools and activities. I did not have to worry about finding seating. Moises at the Excellence Club pool was absolutely outstanding. He is legend around here and I can see why. Most days were spent at the beach, meditating and relaxing. I have never been taken care of better than I was by Ivan and Jorge. They were outstanding gentlemen and treated me very well and ensured I had a great week. Hibachi dinner was excellent. Rosy and Gerardo were so much fun. Food was fantastic. Erika at Aroma was a pleasure to see each night as I got a warm drink and tea to settle down for the evening. Overall, an absolutely great experience. I will definitely be booking another trip for next year.

The taco truck is great but doesn't open until 4pm.. a little late for lunch. I don't want fries/hotdog/burger/nachos for lunch. The Linux buffet was great, but it would've been nice to have a salad or tacos by the pool. Loved the shows and trivia every night! Can't wait to go back.

Casa Kenwal is located in Puerto Morelos, which is about a 30 minute drive south of the Cancun airport. The house itself is located a half mile from the town square of Puerto Morelos. There is no shortage of tourist shops and great restaurants! The property is managed by Walter who was such a gracious host. I was not in charge of the booking, but from what I heard everything was very easy to do. Walter is originally from the US, so there were no communication issues. He and his wife greeted us upon arrival and checked in with us several times throughout our stay. They live on the 3rd floor/back of the 2nd floor of the property. The house has a private pool, small private beachfront and is located directly in front of the ocean! There are 5 bedrooms, 7 baths and it was very spacious for our group of 6 adults and two small children (3 and 18 months). They even purchased a pack and play specifically for our group to accommodate the 18m y/o for sleeping. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the dishes and cookware you could need. We made all of our breakfasts and lunches there and went to 5-6 different restaurants for our dinners, all walking distance. Walter did some initial shopping for us to stock up on kitchen staples. There are a few small grocery/convenience stores that are walking distance. We did take one taxi trip to a larger grocery store to get a few additional items. Hands down the best part is the beautiful outside space. The pool was a perfect size for several adults and the 3 y/o to be in at one time. We spent hours lounging by and floating in the pool. The small private beach/sand area is sectioned off so the kids could play in the sand in private. The public beach is right in front of that with about a 20 yard walk to the ocean. A highlight of the beach was the My Paradise Beach Bar that is located just next door. We went there almost every day during their 2 for 1 happy hour that is announced via a blowing conch shell that we could hear from our pool! I highly recommend a Pina Colada! The whole family loved the trip so much that we plan to go back in the next couple of years!

OVERALL SUMMARY:…read more Awesome trip; great property, excellent food, friendly staff (especially Felipè, our pool server) * * * * * GENERAL SUMMARY: We book our trip and opted for the "Preferred" status with all the "extra perks" but honestly still feel that the perks were mostly hype. Having a newspaper and access to play with their computer is a waste; access to a "preferred" Club Lounge with continental breakfast and hors d'oeuvres are not as good as just walking over to any of the other restaurants, bars or coffee shop; and the worst perk to have "personalized" check-in was actually slower than regular check in because you have to wait for someone to get you at the resort entrance and then walk across the whole property the Club Lounge for check in. But I would do it again because the room location and views were worth it. I was a little annoyed by the "extras" we expected (since they were offered as promotional gifts and offers during the sales call to book the trip) since most were misleading, like the 200 dollar vouchers for use on the property turned out to be coupons. We also had a call that we had a "welcome gift" for us in the Club Lounge; that bullshit turned out to be an offer to access another property but you'd have to sit through a sales pitch. Our room's balcony overlooked the pool area that was at the pool's signature tunnel (large pool passes through one of the buildings to the infinity edge overlooking the ocean). Cabanas with lounge chairs and hammocks surrounded by colorful landscaping makes the surroundings quite relaxing. In addition to our room and view, the many restaurants, bars and entertainment were excellent. * * * * * SPECIFIC PROS AND CONS: PRO: Love the "Secret" pass thru box for room service deliveries CON: Afternoon housekeeper rarely showed up PRO: Drinks were on par for what you would expect from an all-inclusive CON: Our TV was limited to 3-5 stations that had english PRO: But Playboy was one of those channels CON: The Club Lounge wasn't a very welcoming environment to laugh or be somewhat noisy at the bar since the staff also worked in this small space PRO: Preferred hotel rooms include great views and comfort CON: Preferred check-in is not convenient or fast PRO: Loved all the restaurant and pool servers (especially Felipè) CON: Saw landscape/maintenance workers spit in the grass often (where the guests often walk barefoot) PRO: Air conditioner rattled but fixed immediately upon request CON: We passed on our "FREE" 1-day spa pass because we felt we'd be pressured with another sales pitch for upgraded services PRO: Plenty of areas for party scene and plenty of areas for quiet time CON: The newspaper was never delivered PRO: The international variety of restaurants was enticing CON: Cost for massages or a private dinner was a joke PRO: Frozen coffee at the coffee shop was excellent when we've had enough liquor (but then I had the bar spike my coffee anyway) CON: Told and verified they had bocce ball courts, but they did not PRO: Our room was great with jacuzzi tub and great bed CON: Welcome bottle of champagne was in 2 inches of ice so our wonderful thought of champagne was warm and unappealing PRO: Entire property is Smoke Free (even have a sign at the main entrance before stepping in) CON: Have an Ash Tray for smoking right under the No Smoking sign PRO: We had a stand with incense which we appreciated on the first night going to sleep CON: After the first night, they removed all the matches so no more incense PRO: The evening special shows were awesome CON: Paella was advertised for 1:30 PM one day but it was all served at 12:30 PM (sucked since I was quite excited to try it) PRO: Pool games and other day time events were fun to meet people when tired of just relaxing CON: Our room TV was tilted and maintenance couldn't fix it PRO: Had the best time taking Sushi Rolling classes CON: All offers and vouchers required us to spend more than you'd expect and the things to buy were already over-priced * * * * * * FINAL SUMMARY: Even though it sounds like the many CONS outweighed the PROS, at the end of the day, WE LOVED our time relaxing in our room or poolside, drinking frozen cocktails and taking tequila shots that were brought to us all day long, eating in all the restaurants, watching the evening shows and playing drunken bingo, taking walks throughout the manicured paths... Most importantly, I would do it again.

If I could give this resort 4.75 stars I would. I normally do not do all inclusive resorts; so this…read morewas my very first experience. I'm afraid, this resort might have ruined me for any others. Service was exceptional - no matter where we were (beach, poolside) we had servers making sure we had drinks. Every concierge or hotel employee that we saw on our stay, greeted us to say hello/good morning etc. Many people have complained about the dress code - which I can kind of see. You are on vacation in a tropical climate, so long pants probably isn't on your list of things to pack. It's also a little sexist, as many of the women are in swimsuit coverups that can pass for dresses (albeit, trashy dresses) and yet men are required to wear dress pants. We were prepared, though, because we have a great travel agent who gave us the heads up - but our friends who traveled with us didn't have the same info. This severely limited our dinner options with them. There is seaweed on the beach - but there is a conscious effort to keep the beach as clean as possible. I mean, it's nature and there isn't anything anyone can do about that. We still spent many days on the beach enjoying the sunshine and sand. Paddle boarding and canoeing is also available. The one thing that I would complain about is the food service schedule. Room service is available 24/7, but it reminded me a lot of a college campus dining (not the food quality, but the dining room schedules). Non room service food is not available at all times - so I would get hungry at 3 or 4pm and nothing would be open. I learned to deal with this by taking a banana to my room from the breakfast set, but it would have been nice to have a salad bar or something for a light and healthy afternoon snack. It's also unfortunate that you are unable to take any food from any of the restaurants to your room. One night, my husband wasn't feeling well (tequila will do that to an Italian from Chicago) and he ended up leaving dinner before our entrees got there. If I wanted to eat what I ordered, I had to stay at the table and eat - I couldn't get a to go box or anything. In a dining room full of couples, it was only slightly humiliating to eat alone - but I had Reddit to keep me company. The best meals we had were the lunch picnic/grill outs. Fish tacos, chips and guac, paella you name it! Super local, very fresh and GLUTEN FREE! Gym is small but effective, entertainment staff seemed enthusiastic and helpful, bartenders poured a strong drink and were very nice, hosts and restaurant servers where very polite and knowledgeable.

I was not approached by anyone offering to sell me anything or attend presentations. Staff were super friendly and helpful during our stay. There's a main pool and a quiet pool. So you have an option where you want to be based on your interest. Night shows were great with some fantastic performers. I wish that there was more Mexican themed shows or music but I guess they try to accommodate that the majority of guests were from Canada and USA. Some of the restaurants rotate being open for dinner. Your best bet is to make reservations ahead of time. You can always show up but might have to wait depending on the time. Overall food was good. Drinks were ok but as a social drinker, I wasn't impressed with my 1-2 drinks/day during my stay. I think I had one drink that I found really good. Beach area is not private and you might have people approach you to sell you stuff or services. A polite "no, thank you" works great. Location and proximity to 5th Avenue made it a great place to explore the area. Although filled with tourists, you also get some local interactions. I would come back to this resort in the future.

Ownership has changed, and this property is now known as Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen…read more My boyfriend planned the trip, and my only request was an all-inclusive resort. While the property has a lot of potential, it ultimately missed the mark, especially for a resort of this size. The biggest issue was the constant selling. I understand upselling is part of the business, but having to say no repeatedly throughout the stay was exhausting. Even after interacting with the same staff members multiple times, nearly every conversation felt like a sales pitch. We also received early morning calls to the room for non-urgent matters and promotions, which was disruptive and frustrating. Despite being advertised as all-inclusive, there were frequent pushes to upgrade to higher-end alcohol, exclusive experiences, and add-ons. I would much rather pay more upfront for a truly inclusive experience than feel harassed during my vacation. It really affected the overall vibe of the trip. The food was average and not memorable. The highlight was the coffee shop, which was open most of the day and consistently good. Poolside dining is very limited. You cannot casually order snacks like chips and guacamole while at the pool and instead have to go to one of the restaurants. Also be cautious with food near the pool, as wildlife grabbed my pizza while I was sitting there. Overall, this resort could be great, but the aggressive upselling, average food, and limited poolside service made it disappointing for an all-inclusive experience.

If you're an adult booked at Hideaway, you have access to the full complex, that side and the family side. Kids, of course, can't go over to Hideaway--which is nice; you can go back and forth between families and semi-loud music and a more quieter atmosphere, in just a short walk. Check out Agave and Taj restaurants; some of my favorite food that I've had at an all-inclusive, to date. I think you'll find the staff is very accommodating and friendly as well. Truthfully I can't say enough good things about Royalton Riviera Cancun; since completing renovations this past December, they've moved up to the top of my list of A-I's to recommend.

Good, but not 5 star resort…read more I don't leave reviews often, although I personally felt that I needed to leave one as I struggled to get an idea of what I was in for. From what I experienced I had mixed thoughts coming here. If you're reading this you likely do too. You've seen the videos and reviews about food poisoning. And I've come here to tell you that they are both right and wrong about. Firstly, if you are traveling to any part of Mexico take Dukoral prior. Yes, it's expensive. Although I strongly believe it works and can help keep you out of the bathroom. Food: I am not feeling my best. No vomiting or serve pain. The best I could describe it is slightly inconvenient. I do typically have stomach problems in the morning although they have persisted throughout the day on this trip. Not due to food poisoning, I'd say it's likely from the fact that's there's so much my body is not used to, including the heat. Now going through reviews I was often thinking to myself that many of the people getting sick are just people getting far too drunk and blaming it on the food. And yes, it's very likely. In my opinion I believe it's the variety, not the fact it's "bad". When you eat a plate of beans, next to sashimi, salad, tacos, and a bunch of other dishes I'm not all that surprised about the stomach issues. If food is your main concern I wouldn't be worried. I'm in a group of 7. Nobody has had a serious problems, including me. Although I can't say it's 5 star food. If you're really worried you could play it really safe by just picking more strategically with your food. Props to Hugo at the Hibachi Grill, he's got some serious knife skills. Food was really great. Atmosphere: The lobby is immaculate and pools are immaculate. Definitely 5 star. The public spaces feel well thought out and modern. Love it! Rooms: Not impressed. This is supposedly a five star resort. Although the rooms feel much more like a four star. The fan rattles and sounds like it may fall on your face at any given moment, and the AC is not good for somewhere that can get to 30 degrees. The best way to sum up the rooms is like a very heavily used five star room. The Marriott Cancun All Inclusive has much better rooms for comparison. Drinks: I'm not much of a drinker by any means. But from what others around us were ordering the selection was very limited. In most restaurants you couldn't get a mojito. Although the drinks they could serve were decent. Marriott Status: We are titanium elite status with Marriott. Although with royalton that pretty much translates to "we don't care". No special treatment, no room upgrades, nothing. They barely recognize the fact they are a Marriott hotel. Unfortunate to see. Beach: Water is warm, nothing like the light blue water at the Marriott All-Inclusive in Cancun. It's quite murky. Although we still had fun. Service: 99% of the staff are lovely. We had a poor experience at the Italian restaurant. Besides that everyone was great, friendly, and attentive. Night Life: If you're looking for a party resort this is not it. Simply not. Adults only is the only way to go. After 10PM the hotel is dead and everything closes. This includes the pools, they close very early. Verdict: If you've got a family with younger kids I can recommend the resort. Don't let the food poisoning reviews scare you off. Go and have a great time. There's variety for everyone. Now if your group is 18+ book at an adults only and enjoy your vacation. Best of luck

It is a huge resort with 18 included restaurants, bars, pools, and beaches. You also have access to all of the different parks which is an amazing perk. Our room was pretty big with two queen beds. It had a jacuzzi and hammock in the balcony. We didn't have a stellar view, but I can only imagine if you did. I also never thought that I would say this, but room service came way too many times. They would come 2 to 3 times a day, and once even asked if we needed room service at 9pm LOL. We mainly ate at the buffet, which did not need a reservation, and it was pretty good. Our overall consensus was that the food here was very diverse and yummy, but was too salty. We don't drink, so I have no comment on that. The infinity pool was pretty nice, but I wish it had a direct view of the beach. There was a river surrounding the hotel, which blocked the view. The beach was pretty accessible though, and the water was very clear. There was a lot of seaweed in it though and it was more rocky than sandy which made it hard to lay our towels down. Overall, though, the service was great and we had a great time here. I would definitely recommend it because we didn't pay for the trip haha.

I was pleasantly surprised how clean the resort is and how courteous the service was. Most employees speak English. I speak Spanish fairly well so I had no issues communicating. There are extensive food options including all day buffets, restaurants, group dining and room service. The buffets lean toward traditional Mexican / Yucatán fare, however, it's not overly spicy. The bakery items are fantastic and not overly sweet. The only Michelin restaurant in Mexico is here at Xcaret. So check that out if you happen to visit here. There are several parks which include water adventures, ATV rentals, zoo & aquariums, history, zip lining etc. I was able to go to the Xplor park for an afternoon when I had some downtime. It was interesting and I had a good time. The cemetery was fascinating. I posted some pictures below. There is no shortage of pools here and every hotel section has its own. The main one that over looks the beach area fills up quick in the am. There are two gyms I believe and a spa which books up quickly so plan in advance. The beach is small and it's a bit of a walk to get to. Chairs and loungers get snapped up quickly early in the day. Security here is "air tight." What I mean the grounds are patrolled by armed guards and there are several checkpoints on the roads going in and out. You have to present your wrist band when entering and leaving with the exception of being on the bus. I was there for a corporate trip and we utilized a rental car to transport our executive staff to and from the airport. Even with the stringent security, the process was fairly easy for us. Checkout is a little odd. You go to the lobby with the letter (bill) that they slide under the door the night before you leave. If you owe nothing, you hand over the letter and wrist band and you're on your way. Large groups that arranged transit via bus was a whole different matter. They had those people wait on long lines to hand over the letter and wrist band and then wait for the bus. It looked a bit convoluted and confusing. Overall I personally had a good experience. The food and service were top notch in my opinion. The time I was able to enjoy the pool and park were nice as well. This was a work related trip and I'll definitely keep it in mind for a future vacation.
