Review #501 October…read more31, 2024 Welcome To The Neighborhood With Macomb's Newest Outdoor Addition called- Pitchford Park ! I finally stopped in this park nearby My home to walk around the sidewalk paths, take photos to help others see so they can visit and enjoy it too. It is located on 49699 Romeo Plank. a 1/4 mile North of 22 Mile Rd. The park was created on 1.4 acres of donated land from a previous resident. It has a unique fenced in area with a membership key entrance called Pitchford Dog Park. The history story of Pitchford Park was named after a family of long time and now deceased residents that generously donated the land in 2021 to use to create a park using their last name of Joe Kay and Pamela Pitchford. Their parents were Bill and Joyce along with brother Todd who loved nature and the community of Macomb Township. Since I drive a few times a week on Romeo Plank Road, it was interesting to watch the reconstruction of the land to create now a community park. There are plenty of parking spots throughout the different areas of activities too. My photos attached show the entrance, trees, shrubs, flowers, tennis and pickleball courts, playscape areas, picnic tables and restrooms too. The newest attraction is a Dog Park for residents and non-residents with a fee and key to enter to use the areas for dogs to run and play with each other or their owners. Dog Park Fee: Residents $40.00 Non-Residents $56.00 Seniors $25.00 Non-Resident Seniors $35.00 Your Dog must have a license first to apply. I liked looking at the sculptures at the front of the park. They add a nice touch as you're walking along. They're for sale too if anyone's interested in purchasing these cool looking works of art. A must visit whether you're a family looking for children's activities or wanting an area to sit and enjoy a picnic lunch or someone who wants to enjoy a walk on the trail. The park is well kept and clean which gets a high mark from me because I enjoy not only walking along nicely landscaped trails, but taking in the surrounding scenery. There weren't any games in play when we were walking, so it was a quiet and serene walk. But there's plenty to do and see for all ages including being a spectator in the stands for baseball games or sitting on chairs and watching soccer games. This I'm sure will become one of our favorite places to walk and enjoy for years to come. I won't take away any stars, but I will say, that I wish people would pick up their pet's waste along the trails, as we almost stepped in a couple of them. They supply the bags if you forget to bring your own, but please don't let your pets do this on the trail and leave it for others to step in. Also, this is the second park where the soccer teams or spectators are leaving their empty bottles and or trash behind on the grass instead of picking up after themselves when the games are over. So as a gentle reminder, whether you're a player, parent or coach--- keep our parks picked up and clean for everyone to enjoy. It only takes a minute to do your share.

The walking trails are well-maintained and also run alongside water, offering a beautiful view especially in the early evening. You'll find a walking, jogging, and even a relaxed bike ride. The natural landscape provides tons of photo-worthy spots. Number one thing is don't expect a playground or bathrooms at the entrance. it's clearly designed for people who enjoy quiet outdoor times. Me personally, my favorite part is for sure the serenity. It does not feel loud or crowded, it's a great place to clear your head, even journal, or enjoy some solo time. I would say one small area that can use some improvement could be better trail entrances, especially for first time visitors. Not only is there three plays capes, there are swings, walking trails with a big pond to watch wildlife, basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and a gazebo area you can rent for parties if you please. A couple play grounds, basketball court, tennis courts, and baseball courts makes it a very popular place to bring the family. You can also fish in the pond. Bring your camera and take plenty of breath taking photos. Heritage Garden is a perfect spot for senior pictures, family photos and even prom photos. The park is dog friendly. Please clean up after your pet. There is literally trash cans everywhere, so also don't litter.

This park is bustling at times during soccer and baseball seasons. With 2 play areas, a couple of covered pavilions offering shelter and shade and indoor restrooms in the front of the park, this is a perfect spot for small gatherings. There are two large grassy areas near the baseball diamond and in the soccer field where you can fly kites, or run with your pet or play any other activity. This is a park the whole family can enjoy with plenty to see as far as plants and trees and animals such as squirrels and birds and rabbits and we've even seen a couple of ducks. When you're in the wooded area walking the path, you forget for a few moments that you're in the middle of the township because it's so peaceful. There are plenty of picnic tables and grills. The bathroom is far from luxurious, I would stay away unless you really need it. Utica does a good job maintaining the park and keeping it clean and safe. Occasionally you will see police presence driving through or hanging out to keep everyone safe. They installed the blue light poles a few years back. Overall it is a great place to go for a run or walk or let the kids burn energy.

2019-09-18. Grant Park. Utica, MI…read more Nestled amid a residential area in Utica is Grant Park. While not the newest or fanciest of parks, its compact and bountiful. Just east of Van Dyke, Grant Park's footprint is bounded by Nancy Ave to the north, Hanh Ave to the south, Deshon St. to the west, and Grant Park to the east. There are two small parking lots, one off Nancy, and one off Hanh. Every time I bring my kids here there are plenty of people enjoying the public space, yet I never have a problem finding a parking spot. This tells me that many are locals, which is great to see that the city's money is well used. The park is not huge, but they make excellent use of their real estate. Amenities include 2 full size basketball courts, 3 tennis courts, two beach volleyball courts, and two playgrounds; one for the big kids, and one for the kiddies. There are also two large pavilions, one by each parking lot, and the green scape is dotted with mature trees, providing green canopies for those who prefer the shade. A walking path winds through the park, and there are a couple of swing benches by the larger playground. There is even a book house where you're welcome to take a book or leave one. The centerpiece of the playground is the large tubular slide. A rare three storey tube slide, which is the primary reason why we come; that and the rare playground roundabout. There is also a Wendy's within walking distance on Van Dyke for those hot days or when you're craving a frosty. All in all, don't let this mature park fool you. It packs plenty for all ages in a small footprint and would serve any community well. Whether you're looking to get active; improve your skills at Basketball, Volleyball, or Tennis; or simply looking for a relaxing day at the park, Grant Pack can accommodate. We had so much fun at the Easter egg hunt/jump. The timed event wasn't overly crowded and priced…read morejust right. We had open jump time and access to both bounce rooms. They also provided tattoos, a visit from the Easter bunny, refreshments, cake, a meat and cheese platter and fruit. The Easter egg hunt was fun with trinkets and tattoos inside the eggs (no candy). We will definitely go back next year!

When we walked in there was a bounce house only for crawlers. Bext they have one bounce house for walkers. In the pack theybhave a mega blow up slide. They have one obstacle course but I feel like that is more for older kids because my kids are almost 2 and they couldnt use that one. They also had thing little bowling pit thing in the back. Overall the kids did have fun. Make sure you have socks for yourself too. I made the mistake of not wearing and had to pay but it is super cheap anyway. They do have some balls and little tikes cars too.
