Let me be clear, I ate Gerber baby food as a child, I fed my children Gerber baby food and damn near everyone I know has been a Gerber baby food patron. I just bought a jar just to make it current & very "clear" as a description of a customer experience! (My cat enjoyed it :-) As a customer for over SIXTY years, I was touched by the following news from this companies face for over 90 years. Ann Turner Cook, whose cherubic baby face was known the world over as the original Gerber baby, has died. She was 95. She was a Tampa, FL resident and her family says her legacy lives on beyond that infamous sketch found on millions of jars of baby food and were by her side during those final moments, but it's still a difficult loss. Cook was 5 months old when a neighbor, artist Dorothy Hope Smith, drew a charcoal sketch of her that was later submitted for a contest Gerber was holding for a national marketing campaign for baby food. The image was a hit, so much so that it became the company's trademark in 1931 and has been used in all packaging and advertising since. For decades, though, the identity of the baby was kept secret, spurring rumors about who it was with guesses including Humphrey Bogart and Elizabeth Taylor. Cook told The Associated Press in a 1998 interview that her mother had told her when she was young that she was the baby in the illustration. She said, "If you're going to be a symbol for something, what could be more pleasant than a symbol for baby food?" In the late 1970s, it was revealed to be Cook, who grew up to be an English teacher at Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida, and later a mystery novelist. A Gerber statement online: "Many years before becoming an extraordinary mother, teacher and writer, her smile and expressive curiosity captured hearts everywhere and will continue to live on as a symbol for all babies." I purchased a gallon of gerbers purified water from the Big Apple Market several times a week I buy…read morea gallon of water,I prefer the water for infants,if they don't have that I go with distilled water While I had never purchased this brand,like the gentleman before me I knew Gerber had been fed it,and gave it to the little babies in the hospital,I didn't even read the blue label cause if I had it would have told me that while it can come from springs,it can be from other sources.When I got the water home I opened it and noticed that it had a strange taste,then I looked at the label and it said minerals had been added for taste,which I thought was a strange statement cause how wound babies know how it should taste the next day I tried to make a cup of tea and noticed the water smelled like swamp water,truly gross,those of you who live in New York know how the Hudson River can smell at low tide.So when I searched on yelp at first I couldn't find a site,but I googled to find the company address what came up was Gerber was being sued because their baby food contains arsenic,mercury and other to toxins,they were asked to recall the products but never did this the law suit.Today I foolishly attempted to call their customer service to let them know about their water spoke to a nice lady,kim who gave me a number for some nice ladies in the Phillipines who said they only handle Nestle Products.So foolishly I called customer service again,this time I spoke to another nice lady Erin who gave me another number in the Phillipines where I spoke to more nice ladies.Finally sanity struck me and I realized that any corporation selling tainted food to babies mothers would not take responsibility for selling nasty water,when I checked further I saw that they sell to Amazon,Target and Walmart.All businesses that are probably unaware of the problem cause their trusting,they trust a household name.Shame on you Gerber,have you no conscious.

Can not thank this man enough for all of his knowledge, wisdom, and guidance. Love the pure eucalyptus oil, lavender oil, which I put in my diffuser as well as use to make my own pet friendly cleaning solutions for my floors. Corona has fresh burdock root, dried or powdered. I remembered Deluca's unbelievably rich chocolate dessert from years before. I can't remember what it was called, but it had chocolate mousse, cheesecake, and chocolate something else. There was no way for me to finish a slice. Trust me, share it with someone or keep it in the fridge and let it last you several days. Since I was visiting my folks, this cozy little shop was a no-brainer for me. It's Italian and no one bothers you. This is all about cakes and coffee. I had a slice of key lime mousse this time. My first batch wasted the $10 package (and left me without dinner). I spent much of the following day searching the web in ernest (I'd done a cursory search the night before) and found NOTHING. I did finally find a number, the story follows. I called, it picked up, I heard noise, but no voice, before I could say anything I was disconnected. I don't give up that easily, I called back. "Hello?" Me: Hello, I'm calling a number I found on the Goya site? "Yes, this is the receptionist." Not, hello, Goya, can I help you? Not Goya International? Just Hello? I explained why I was calling and she interrupted me [rude] and said, "I'll transfer you." The transferred call gets picked up by another woman. I begin to explain my situation, again she talks over me and I'm transferred again. About this time, I was wondering if I might perhaps want to dust off getting ticked off. Third lady picks up, she's the white lady. I can tell because she sounds very southern Kentucky. I explain my situation [in between her interruptions of "okay," "yes"; seriously, she sounded like the woman in the trailer park office in No Country For Old Men] My situation is, again, I bought their product and it has no cooking instructions, no preparation instructions. She says, "Can I have your name, please?" Me: Certainly. [give her my name which she both misspells and mispronounces. I mean, it's two syllables, but I let it go.] "Can I have a contact phone number?" Now, I'm smirking as I give my number adding, "so long as you promise not to call me at an inappropriate time." "What is the product name?" Me: Frozen grated yucca. "What?" Me: Frozen grated yucca, or cassava. "Okay. Is that uka U - K - A?" You're GOYA Foods. Me: No, Y - U - C - C- A. "Okay. Do you have the UPC code?" Me: Give me a minute, I'll get it. I grab the thawed product from the fridge, the package is actually slimy. I read her the code, she reads it back to me. "Can you give me the Lot number and Best Used By date?" Me: Hang on, I need to get a light. Okay, I see information in ink that doesn't say lot number, but here's the number, and the expiration is [give date, don't feel like looking it up for the story] "And the store where it was purchased?" Remember, I'm asking how to cook it or prep it because there are no instructions on the package. The slimy package. Me: Hannaford Brothers. [This has to be repeated three times, at which point I'm VERY close to saying, "You DID hear me when I said I just had esophageal surgery, no? Do you ask Stephen Hawking to repeat himself just for kicks, too?" but I don't. "And the city and state where the store is located?" I provide it, twice, spelling out E-X-E-T-E-R the second time. "And your mailing address?" That was my breaking point. Me: Can I ask why? I've given you literally everything except my bank account number and all I'm asking is how to cook the product because there is no information on the package. [by this point she's been cross-talking over me, the hoarse guy who just had surgery, since the word "cook"] Me: You know what, let me make this easy. I will NEVER use your products again and I will go OUT OF MY WAY to tell EVERYONE not to. Thank you, Goya. You're a disgrace.
