For a small museum, there is quite a lot there, and the downstairs exhibits change quite regularly. It is on two levels but there's a lift, and it's very child-friendly. It's free too, although I think donations are accepted and should be considered to keep this worthwhile museum running.Worth a look just to find out about some local history. I would recommend allowing about two hours for a visit.

Yes, it's old, and yes, it's small (actually one of the reasons it's so special: I seem to remember hearing somewhere it's the smallest surviving theatre Frank Matchem built). However, it is really unique and has a character that I think exceeds that of the bigger theatres in London's west end. There is a real feeling of history, added to by the beautiful architecture and interior design. The small size means you get a decent view wherever you sit, and they have a good range of shows - from music tribute acts to serious dramas, comedy and pantomimes! The theatre also has a good (though rather miniature) cafe, and does sell absolutely fantastic ice cream during the intervals. Only small complaint is that they could do with a few more toilets to avoid the queues!

Even more of a shame is that this potential has not been developed - the gallery is small and cramped, has few exhibits and those that there are are not that inspiring, which I find incomprehensible considering that the area has spawned such artistic talent. They do run various workshops and activities for children, which I have not attended and may be worth a visit, but personally, to see art in the area, I would recommend visiting the sculpture park in Bretton instead.

Some art trolly's dotted round the place for kids to draw pictures and complete activities. Worth a visit if you've nothing better to do but not worth and outing in its own right (in my opinion). It is an old…read moreTudor hall, which is still run as a working Tudor house and hosts school groups throughout the week, allowing children to learn about the past by spending the day in character as Tudors. On certain weekends and some weeknights, it is open to the public for open days and special events. Activities include learning Tudor music and dance, making pomanders or marzipan sweets, having your fortune read or tasting things in the Tudor kitchen. The Mistress of the house also has many true stories to tella bout Clarke Hall's past It's a really unique experience - it'd be worth going just to look round the gardens and see the house, but it's also a great way to get kids into history.

The gift shop stocks tons of books, toys, and of course, tee/ sweatshirts. We are museum nerds so we needed two days to explore the Royal Armouries. Most people can probably do it in one. Pieces of art work in themselves! The collection is beyond extensive and beautifully displayed. I highly recommend attending the daily scheduled talks, they are engaging and informative, with a chance to ask questions and handle relevant items. During the weekday is less busy with general public, but can get busy and a bit loud with school visits, but we actually took advantage of this and listened to the teachers giving talks to the children! This is a free exhibition that does welcome donations. There is plenty of bathroom facilities, lifts as well as stairs for moving throughout the floors. Also, there Is a cafe on the ground floor. They do like you to book in advanced even though it's free, that way they have an idea of numbers.
