Yesterday, I found myself marooned at the check-out. Because I'm passionate about people keeping their jobs, I recently exchanged my contact-less card for the chip and pin variety. For no apparent reason the system rejected it without reading it. Repeatedly. With a 2 year-old alongside whose heavily pregnant mum, (a twenty-five minute drive away) needed the goods I had purchased for her, this was a potentially stressful situation.The customer care we both received from that moment on, was absolutely superb.Theresa at the till did everything she could for us with cheerful patience - soon joined by Nikki who exuded the same sense of professional care and efficiency. My little grand-daughter was brilliantly looked after while I sought a solution at the customer care desk. John then took over the transaction, and we abandoned the card for cash....he painstakingly helped me reduce the goods to the amount available in my purse, with the minimum of fuss. From the person who insisted I sit while using the telephone to those who came to my rescue in such a kind way, this was a team operating in a way truly compatible with the season.This is the kind of customer care which promotes loyalty.
