After the (a bit disappointing) stop at the Twins Falls we parked here quick to enjoy the views. There are very limited parking spots available, except you're in for a walk. But that day we've been the only ones stopping there. This stop offers you amazing views of the coast and you can see the Road To Hana for miles! When you see the coastline, you really have to wonder and be amazed, how this Road has been built. It's a quick stop only, but rewards you with really great views and pictures. A must-do!

"The Church by the Sea" is an open air church built in 1853, and was the first in all of Hawaii to have a Hawaiian ordained minister. Strangely this seems to be a quiet feature; I found the commemorating plaque hidden behind some half-alive potted plants. There's a small cemetery, and a simple but charming outdoor walk for the 14 Stations of the Cross. It's quiet, green and contemplative. Might be a nice place to attend a morning service, in the splendour of Creation. Certainly better than any crazy megachurch that looks more like a gaudy car dealership than a place of worship.

Vene and his wife gave us a brief history lesson and prayer and then got us into the outrigger. We were chanting and rowing away but unfortuantely it was a windy day and Vene turned us around. We spent the rest of the time wading through the large fish pen helping him repair the wall. There were 5 or 6 large sea turtles just hanging out in the sun. That was incredible to see. Vene is a great singer.

It's an historic building, designed by Maui-born architect CW Dickey, and opened in August 1929. It was the first public library in Maui County, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Inside you'll find a great selection of books in all genres, with varying displays of selected works that relate to current events or celebrations, and a staff of friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful librarians eager to help you get the most out of your library experience. There are adult and keiki reading rooms, a rack of books for sale (proceeds benefit the library), magazines, and much more. New automated checkout stations are super convenient and easy to use and offer you the choice of printed or emailed receipt for checked out items. As with all branches of the state library system, you can use their app to request and place holds on items and pick them up here (or any other location). The app also lets you see your due dates for checked out items, renew any if needed, and see where you are in line for items you've requested. The Wailuku library may not be physically huge, but it's definitely punching above its weight and providing great service to the community.

I've driven by a million gazillion times and today was the first time I've ever been inside. It clearly is historic and what a gem. Parking is on the street or in the County parking lot across the street. There is a crosswalk and a ramp in the back for handicapped and strollers. I have fond memories of going to my local hometown library as a child so I hope to do the same for my little blessing. The librarians and everyone were so nice. There is also a little one floor elevator to get down to the keiki area. I love that they have their own space. It is super cute. I can see so many more trips in the future with my little one. Not the fanciest library but still wonderful and for someone who loves books like me, it is one of my happy places.

11/29/2022: Snorkeling at Black Rock during high tide defeats smooth diving! The ocean swells…read morewere turbulent causing me a snorkeler getting smashed against the rocks despite, my location was twenty-feet from the rocks. The waves forcefully shoved me towards and against the rocks! I think I'll snorkel at the "Steps" where the ocean is similar to swimming in a calm, blue lagoon. Backstory: From 1993 to the early 2000's, the ocean was calm but now, due to water levels rising, Black Rock's shoreline is rapidly decreasing while the tides are egregiously rough and unpredictable. Therefore, it doesn't matter whether your a pro-diver, I highly recommend utilizing a Coast Guard approved, flotation vest for your safety, since the tides will drift you rapidly out to sea or smash you against the rocks. Be safe while swimming in the ocean: It's not a piece of cake when you get caught drifting out to sea. FYI: There are NO LIFEGUARDS at Black Rock! Finally, it's truly surprising not one Yelper has ever written a review for Black Rock~WOW! Finally, if you read my review thus far, please scrutinize studying the beach parking lot photo!
