I came here after reading reviews from my fellow yelpers. Here's my take: #1: Don't come here for the ambience. There is none! It's old fast food restaurant, redone; clean, but not glamourous. #2: The food is kind of plain. I ordered Sweet and Sour chicken. I got Sweet and sour chicken and some gummy rice. The chicken was deep fried and came with sauce to pour over it. That's it. There was no vegetables at all. I found it good, but lacking enough sauce. I didn't like the rice at all. I prefer mine fluffy. Personally, I didn't think it was all that great. Perhaps I didn't pick the right course, but I won't be back. read more

Everytime Jeff M. and I are on this side of town, we end up at Wahaha. Words can't describe how much I love the food here. It's like.. Asian soul food. This little unassuming spot that looks suspiciously like a Burger King has some of the most warming, flavorful, authentic, stir-fried, wok-style dishes. Everything we've tried has been a win, especially the Wahaha Special Fried Rice and the Hot and Spicy Chicken. You would think fried rice is just..fried rice. But at Wahaha, there is depth to it, layers of flavor that plays with your senses. They don't skimp on the proteins either. The shrimp in the rice are plump and juicy, the beef is slightly caramelized and the chicken is marinated just right. Occasionally you'll bite into bits of what seems to be shrimp paste. For me it was a pleasant surprise, like little bursts of flavor. The Hot and Spicy Chicken and the Jalapeno Spicy Chicken are two of my favorite dishes. They are different enough that you'd want to get both. The Hot and Spicy uses the sichuan peppercorn to give it that peppery, tingly mouthfeel, whereas the Jalapeno Spicy Chicken tends to be milder. The Dan Dan noodles are great too. That chili oil and sauce is on point. By the way, don't let the waitress tell you that one bowl isn't enough for three people. It is more than enough. We made the mistake of ordering two bowls for three people to share and we hadn't even dug into the second bowl. If you're tempted by the bubble tea, go for the Thai tea. It's one of the best I've had in the city. Not only do they have a fun name for a restaurant (who doesn't like to say Wahaha?), you can tell that the chefs put thought and effort into *every* aspect of *every* dish and they successfully roll out plenty of rich and succulent flavors. Be warned, the ambiance is by no means romantic, or modern, or cool. In fact, I don't think they put any thought into the ambiance at all. Be prepared for American retro diner meets ethnic mom and pop shop. I took off a pretend 'half star' for the bathroom that is outside of the restaurant. The building looks like an old taco joint, but inside is some of the most amazing food you'll find at a price point that's remarkably low for the quality. Our family loves this Asian restaurant. It is not an upscale location but a diamond in the types of authentic Asian family style dishes it offers. One of my favorites is seafood in pot. So good...it comes cooked in a clay pot with a seafood mixture, vegetables, light sauce and served with white sticky rice on the side. I love that I can choose from rice dishes, noodle dishes, soups, or combination dishes and not have a similar meal even if we go more than a couple of times a month. Prices are reasonable $-$$. You will see international students here, to me that says a lot about authenticity. read more

Excellent authentic Chinese food. Very pleasant staff. The hot and sour soup is very peppery. When you see hot on the menu, items in red, they are spicy. We had the Spicy Chicken, Oil dripped noodles, spicy, and Shrimp with Vegetables. The shrimp stood out, perfectly cooked and very flavorful . Came back here with my father for lunch. Definitely worth the 25 minute drive from the metro. This time I had the lamb strings which are definitely the best thing I've ever eaten. My brother recommended them but I was hesitant to try them because I've never been blown away by lamb. Those were life changingly good. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Just fatty enough to be rich and succulent but not so fatty to be offputting. They had a great cumin spice blend on them. Tried this place for the first time tonight to go. Got home and found that I got no rice with my beef and broccoli. Called and they said I could come back and get it. By then my food would obviously be cold, no thanks. It's a shame we won't be back because the food isn't bad. read more

I might give this place a second chance via the drive thru but my "hot" tea was very bitter and served tepid in a coffee mug with no tea bag - I expected a pot for that price. I asked to exchange it for some green tea and the young waitress who had been overtly flirtatious and focused on the boys at the table next to me said, "Jasmine tea IS green tea..." in an argumentative tone so rather than telling her it was cold and bitter in front of her lascivious admirers I said please take it off my bill and bring me some water. My appetizer would've also gotten cold if I hadn't gotten up to get my own chopsticks after waiting several minutes on the same female waitperson. I had no desire to navigate further bs by the time my noodles arrived and asked for to go boxes. I don't digest food well when I'm angry so I sat in the parking lot to write this before leaving on an empty stomach. My waitperson was impatient, rude and impudent; she didn't deserve the dollar I gave her so I'm calling back to tell her that was for the cook. read more

Most people complaining about this place are griping about either the building/restaurant itself, or are out of towners applying their own standards to this restaurant unreasonably. For the price and for within Oklahoma, this is about as good as it gets. Sure, it is not better than southern California or whatever place you came from - but for Oklahoma, it is pretty darn good. Cliff's Notes: Legitimately one of the top 3 or 4 Chinese/Szechuan places in the entire metro. It's nice to find a place that goes full bore Szechuan. If you do not want heat, do not order spicy. It may be a painful lesson, but there is a reason "Ma La" and chili heads exist in large numbers around the world. Sichuan peppercorns are not as common as they could or should be with more run of the mill Chinese restaurants, so that is a pleasant surprise. There are many menu items that are Not spicy, at all, and this kitchen seems to take pride in everything they make. The egg drop soup is an excellent example of what this soup CAN be when made with love. SO! Order with awareness and enjoy a true gem of not only Edmond, but the metro. And not a second too soon as this is by far the best Chinese in the area. Regarding spicy, keep in mind this isn't ghost peppers or even habaneros. It isn't going to kill you...grab an extra napkin, wipe your brow, and perhaps you will stumble upon one of life's greatest joys and that is the endorphin rush/high that you get from heat. This is a little quaint hole in the wall building that has awesome food. Don't let the look of the building or the inside turn you off. It might be outdated but it's very clean and the food is delicious. The service is great too. If I lived closer to the area this would be my go to place to eat out. Skip the menu they give you and order only from the paper under the table's glass labeled "real chinese food". the handmade noodles are insane-the real Chinese deal. Also called "dao xiao main", these noodles are hand-sliced, satisfyingly chewy, and served in a delicate broth with greens and sliced beef. Also go for the fried handmade noodles and the dumplings. Don't forget to ask for the special chile oil sauce-it pulls the whole thing together. Wahaha is not for the timid or faint of hard. Sure, ordering is confusing and the place looks a little run down, but the soup is worth it a thousand times over. If Pei Wei is your idea of good Chinese, stay far far away. I have been in Edmond ever since this restaurant first opened, and I knew the owners and they were great cooks and produced amazing authentic chinese food. And in Edmond, authentic chinese is not easy to find. But when the restaurant was bought over by another couple, the food just downgraded majorly from being way too salty to just plain old greasy food. I went here with one of my Asian friends (always helps when they can order Chinese food in Chinese...) and tried the hot and spicy chicken with white rice, the green bean platter (it may have been fried green beans) and a special handmade noodle with beef. All things were pretty delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked and tender, the green beans had ground meat in them and were super tasty, and the handmade noodles with beef really hit the spot! I wish I could have had more of them, but I had to keep stealing off of someone else's plate... The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the egg drop soup, and that's not anything bad about them...I don't really like egg drop soup, so not really sure why I ordered it. Next time I'll be sure to try the Sweet and Sour. I'm sure I'll be back in the future. read more

The food here was amazing! It's the most authentic food I've had here in Edmond. Customer service was fantastic. Always refilling my water and asking if I needed anything. Listen, me and my kid love this place. I went in last week on Friday and I was definitely in shock when I saw how disgusting this kitchen is. I literally watched this older gentleman in the kitchen drop a whole veggie tray in the trash and pick it up and looks over and sees that I saw it, and sneakily proceeds to use the vegetables. Also, no gloves at all, just bare handed grabbing food ingredients. No hair net. Ran his hands through his hair and proceeded to cook. This is during Covid too! Then has the audacity to say I need to leave because they aren't letting customers in. Um...I had just ordered $67 in food, plus you saw me waiting for food the entire time and I honestly think he was more concerned about what I saw him doing. Look, after reading the health inspection, I get it. I have seen people be more sanitary cooking on camping sites. As much as I love the food, it's only a matter of time before someone gets super sick. They were handling money, making bubble tea and cooking and everything without any sanitation at all. Got take out while at work today. Spicy chicken and hot and sour soup! Probably the best hot and sour soup I've ever had. It was perfectly "hot" and very flavorful. The spicy chicken was enough for 3 lunches and came with fried rice. It was also very flavorful and different than any Americanized Chinese food I've had. I am thinking it was more authentic. The building looks horrible, without a doubt. It's like an old Taco Mayo. We almost didn't go in. So glad we did. We got lamb strips (ok), spring rolls (very good), white rice, hot and sour and egg drop soups (both splendid- hubby said eggcellent), general tso chicken (awesome), and Hawaiian fried rice (fabulous). If you haven't had the worst service, you should go there. I have been there several times. It always been the same waitress. She is just setting at her "spot", and play with her phone. She laughs out loud when we were having lunch there. If you have been there, you know it is a small restaurant. What she does and her laugh is pretty obvious. The food is ok, they kinda over charged for some very cheap food. I would rather go to szechuan bistro for some real Chinese food and much much better service.
