A cold winter Wednesday saw me trying Wa Ha Ha for the first time. I have driven by it thousands of times. It resides in what was Edmond's original (or one of) Taco Bell. But that was a long time ago. I ordered a daily special. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with egg drop soup, fried rice and an egg roll. The building is crumbling as you might expect a very old fast food structure to do. Surprisingly the food does not belong in such a place the prices are not bad considering the quality and quantity I was served. Chicken was firmly coated with a light batter around the hot and tender chicken. An almost bland seasonless that depended entirely on the the slightly sweet and sour sauce that deserves the name. The fried rice amazingly sticky but not gummy. It had little flavor but was impressive in its texture and size of the grains. The egg drop soup tasted very eggy and smooth a well made version of the ubiquitous Chinese diner offering. The egg roll was smallish with a thick crust and mildly flavored filling. I didn't fall in love with its flavor but I could not fault it on quality. All of the food I was served was of the highest quality. When I was approaching the door of Wa Ha Ha I was a little afraid of what I might find inside. Instead I was blown away by a level of quality that exceeded practically every other Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. While the flavors are nothing to write home about I was impressed with the care that went into the food. Even the quality of the chopsticks was way above the norm. I would agree with the person that said don't let looks fool you. I have had veggie fried rice and the crab rangoons and the delicious soups as far as food from here and they were all very good and the portion size was huge as far as the veggie rice. To add to that, I got all this through their drive-thru. Wahaha isn't normally very busy which I think might explain how they are able to provide service through the drive thru since the food usually takes about 5-10 mins to make it's way to the drive thru depending on what you order. But I don't mind waiting. What I usually go to Wahaha for is the bubble teas. The flavor is very rich in the bubble tea mix and it's thick like I like it. I think someone mentioned frozen boba clumps. I've only had that happen to me once and that was because I didn't drink the bubble tea quick enough and thus a few of the bobas froze, but you can just let the bubble tea melt a little or take off the lid and scoop the tapioca bobas out and munch on them. I think the owner is really nice and he always smiles and says come back soon and actually seems to mean it. read more

Soooooo good! The seafood and tofu pot was okay, as well as the dumplings, but the stars of the show were definitely the cumin lamb and the garlic eggplant! Never had cumin lamb anywhere before, but that was absolutely delectable. We're Vietnamese, so we eat at Asian restaurants all the time--especially down in the Asian District. But the eggplant here was the BEST eggplant dish I've had hands down. Great flavor with a slight crispiness, but still soft. My mom really liked the flat noodles. Oh my, I have been ordering take out from here for years! I sat in the very outdated dining room once with my mother and it was semi clean but nothing I wanted to go back to. But, omg TODAY WAS THE ICING ON THE CAKE! I will never be back! Just yesterday I ordered exactly what I ordered today: shrimp fried rice, hot & sour soup, and 2 orders of spring rolls. The fried rice that was made today was NOTHING like what I have ordered in the past. The color and all was different, it was just thrown together and missing the green onions. I took one bite and also noticed they did not add any seasoning. I started to get my quick chef on and add some on my favorite seasoning to help the bland taste. After sprinkling seasonings like I was Salt Bae, I noticed something moving in my rice! It was a small brown spider! That spider started wigging out and crawled out the box! I'm guessing the seasoning was too much for the insect! I freaked out and I tried to get a picture but Ofcourse it was blurry! (I will still post a picture of the spider on the now bottom of the box and when I killed it) I called to speak to the Manager and this man's professional is NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! This man did not apologize once but instead told me "I keep going and going" "We have never had a complaint about spiders before" cutting me off, and just being downright rude! Great local spot in Edmond. Unassuming from the outside, food is some of the best Chinese we have found in the area. We get: Jalapeño spicy chicken Vegetable pan fried flat noodles Orange or sweet and sour chicken Crab wontons Every time we have eaten here, they are consistent with quality and overall experience, you know what you getting kinda thing. We think it's one of those often overlooked places as there are fancier places, but with the pandemic changes, it's nice they have a drive thru window, for less contact experiences. read more

The food is the best Asian food in Edmond I always get the lamb it has cumin on it and it's so dang good

I have eaten at more Asian diners but this one is the worst I've EVER been too!!! I ordered 3 meals and 3 crab Rangoon 6 in each order and a large egg drop soup.... the fried rice in my daughter meal was frozen, my grandson could not even eat his meal it was way way over cooked he could not eat it, and the 3 orders of crab Rangoon had nothing in them!! I have 5 dogs and I could not get any of them to eat them!!!! The refused to put the money I spent back on my card!!!! I NEVER ORDER OR EAT THERE AGAIN!! We been here way too many times.. This time we tried Boiled fish with pickled cabbage and the Oil sprinkled noodles. We love them both! The boiled fish with pickled cabbage also comes with fried tofu. It has a little sour to the broth but lots of flavor. The pickled cabbage taste kind of like sour kraut to me. Love eating this dish over rice. The oil sprinkled noodles is a dry hand pulled noodle tossed with a vinegary oil sauce with a lot of red pepper flakes. The dish comes with a chicken, beef, shrimp, and assorted veggies. They also carry bubble tea here! This place is a hole in a wall restaurant but with delicious authentic Chinese foods! There's roughly 8-10 tables inside. There's also table outside but we have never seen anyone outside. Service was fabulous, fabulous every time we come in. The food comes out very quickly. This was my third time to try Wahaha.. Two takeout and once dine in. The dine in was fine and the food is excellent. However, when I ordered take out, both times when I arrive home, something was missing or it was incorrect. Very frustrating to say the least! The first time one item (the fried calamari) was missing. It is too far to drive to go al the way back to get the item although they said they would replace it. Yesterday, I ordered Pepper Steak and fried calamari. I asked for the full order not the half order to split with my wife. I also asked for some jalapeno to be added to the order. The jalapeno was $1 more. When I got home, and opened the the sack, I had the 1/2 order (very small mount) of pepper steak, and it should have been called onion/carrot steak as there was very little bell pepper but an abundance of jalapeno. VERY disappointed! So if I ever go back, I not only must check to order to make sure it is all there, but I must check each item to make sure I got what I ordered! Great service and great prices but not great good unfortunately. They have very reasonably priced boba tea but I did not care for the flavor I got at all. I had mango and it was way too sweat and kind of an off-tasting flavor. The sesame chicken was too sweet as well. Their fried rice was kind of hard in some places and didnt taste super fresh. Best fast food Chinese I've ever had. I've been driving past this place for years and never thought to go in. It's not the prettiest place on the block but don't let that deter you! I loved this place. They have a great menu with the standard Americanized Chinese fast food and then an additional part that has more traditional Asian dishes. Tons of dishes. Everything is good! If you are a China House only type of person, I'd recommend not ordering off the traditional menu. I got hot & spicy chicken, which was delicious but used more spices, maybe cumin or coriander? I added the leftovers to lentil soup and the flavors paired really nicely! Long story short, if you're with picky eaters be prepared for richer flavors in the Authentic Chinese menu. Yes, the facade is ugly. And yes, the name is, for want of a better term, patently silly. But this place -- and trust me on this, kids -- is superb for those who want a filling meal on a budget. Don't be a wuss, either -- go ahead and order the most fiery dishes you can handle. (Believe me: I know piquant and love piquancy. If I wanted to eat milk toast and tapioca, well, I'd eat milk toast and tapioca.) You can get your "flames" mild (e.g. jalapeño) or wild (e.g. bird chiles, Sichuan peppercorns, etc.). ME? I like mine as "wild" as they come. The Dan Dan noodles (a longtime favorite of mine) here are served up in generous portions and are very, VERY good. It both cracks me up and saddens me all at once to think of how many years we'd passed this place by and sneered at its ugly facade and ridiculous name. Thanks for the primo reviews and suggestions, fellow Yelpers! (I really wouldn't have even ventured into this wonderful little Edmond hole in a wall had it not been for your many reviews/recommendations.) Pretty good for a hole in the wall place. Don't judge this restaurant from the outside. Swung by for dinner and ordered hot & spicy chicken and combination fried rice. The hot & spicy chicken was delicious! Slightly salty, spicy, with this celery like garnish that was so good! Chicken might have been very lightly battered, but perfect amount of seasoning and sauce. Fried rice was MEH. Filled w/ toppings and LOVED how they have bean sprouts, but rice was on the clumpier/wet side. I usually like the rice of my fried rice on the drier side. Good place. Nothing too wild and crazy, just good old Chinese comfort food. The portion of the menu titled "Authentic Chinese Food" holds some of the best things on the menu. These entrees are much more authentic and fresh than some other things on the menu. The pricing is extremely good! You get a large portion of good food for a relatively cheap price. I would recommend Wahaha, but do not expect anything extremely fancy or overly authentic. I would recommend the Twice Cooked Pork Slices, Sweet and Sour Spareribs, Oil Sprinkled Noodle, and Dan Dan Noodle. They also have very good Baozi Buns for CHEAP!! read more

After finding the more authentic items on their menu, I started loving this place. Yes the basic Americanized Chinese food here is subpar, but the authentic Chinese mainland type of food is awesome! You-po mien, literally translated as spicy noodle, is amazing. The hand-made noodles when are tasty and the dan Dan mien is just ok. The stringed lamb is quite good, great flavor and not too spicy. Very good. Noodles are super tasty. We have been there a few times and occasionally the spicy is melt your mouth spicy. I consider myself "able to handle spicy". Usually 3 star at thai, we add thai peppers to most things we cook, but the heat sometimes over powers the flavor. Only reason it's 4 not 5. Even hot the flavors are excellent. Portions are hearty. I know I butchered that spelling, tofu okay was not my favorite but one doesn't know unless they try it first. super nice that I could order online through Apple Pay. THE BEST in Edmond! I have ordered off of the family menu (traditional recipes) during the new year many times and love the sweet and sour soup! When I was still going to UCO I would go here for lunch, one of the BEST deals you can find! If you are a fan of spicy food I would ask for the spicy oil. They will bring you a little serving tray with hot chili oil, fish sauce, hoisin sauce and a sweet / spicy peanut oil. Order something bad ass off the specials menu and you won't be disappointed! Not sure why the people have given low star reviews for such good food, especially a 2 stars for the decor? AND they haven't tried much on the menu?? Are you that pretentious? Don't let the old small building scare you! This is by far the BEST Chinese food in Edmond and quite possibly OKC! Wow! My husband and I ate here on a rainy cool evening during the week. Was not real busy but all the people in there were regulars and all said they had never had a bad meal here! My husband had the hot and spicy chicken and I had the jalapeño chicken! The jalapeño chicken was absolutely amazing! I ate until I was stuffed! The hot and spicy chicken was really good as well but because I loved the jalapeño chicken so much it just couldn't measure up! We also had the spring rolls which were fresh, crispy and delicious and their spicy dipping sauce was delicious as well! When you go don't forget to have a chai tea! We have finally found a great Chinese restaurant! Our search is over... it's been a very long search! They have a great menu! Lots of variety! I cannot wait to try many more of their dishes!
