Inept service. Apparently I was rude when I brought up their efforts to overcharge a party member. They also insisted that a member of the party bought two beers that the servers could not account for. We ate at the Hole in the Ground place about 3 months ago and it was a HUGE mistake. The food was mediocre at best, wait staff was so slow mine as well give them walkers to see if they would move any faster, they are more concerned about after work, boyfriends, clubbing, etc... it was crazy. Wait staff does not know the menu at all they always have to run off to ask someone else, then you hear them say they serve fresh food B.S. I ordered some chicken and it was freezer burnt I asked about things being fresh and they stupid I'm sorry to say. They said they took it out of the freezer that morning thawed it out therefore it was fresh I was like WTF so confused trying to explain it to these people. Fried pickles for appetizer. In my opinion, too salty, but my daughter and fiancé loved them. My daughter had corn dog and fries . Can't make that wrong. Kids corn dog cake with 2 and a bunch of fries. Definitely worth the money. Fiancé and I both had dinner salads, which was good but I wouldn't say 2.99 extra good. Wagon Master's food is mediocre at best. Our appetizer, south western egg rolls, was decent, but far from great. The rolls are good. The 1/2 slab of ribs was a joke, maybe a 1/3 slab probably more like a 1/4. They were way over cooked and the BBQ sauce tasted like cheap grocery store BBQ sauce. The habanero burger was good, roll was good, spice could have been a lot more for me, but overall was good. The service was good but the cook doesn't know how to cook a steak. I ordered my filet minion medium and what came to the table wasn't even close, it was so rare that it was still moo'ing. Not only was it not cooked but it was sliced down the middle so either they don't get quality steak or the cook sliced it and saw it wasn't done correctly and didn't care, you would expect more out of a $28 steak. I was stuck in Leesville for a few weeks staying at a hotel near this joint so I ate there a few times while I was in town. The first time was nothing more than mediocre. My steak tasted alright but was definitely more medium well than medium rare and the mashed potatoes were pretty cold. The second time was salt overload. The fried pickles would make your mouth pucker they were so salty and the steak tasted like it had marinated in sea water for a week although at least it was cooked somewhat properly this time. This will be our last time coming here, as it took 10 minutes to get our drink order. We had a hail and farewell here. The worst mistake ever. We had 2 table that didn't get there food until exactly 2 hours later. The food was cool and disgusting. The owner came to our table and apologize for the incident and picked up the tap. ( which was appreciated). My mother in law ordered a country fried steak and got two huge helpings, but due to the amount of salt in the batter she might need to change her blood pressure regimen. I will not go back or suggest this place to anyone. Do not go and waste your money. Dropped over 130 bucks tonight when I would had done better at the grocery store. Though was a bit chewy, had a great Chicken Fried Steak. Good gravy on the side, and great Onion Rings (along with a great dipping sauce, though the sauce was on a bit of a small serving size). The Onion Rings reminded me of those served at a restaurant frequented several years ago in Illinois. The other meals served to the party looked good and plentiful for what was served. However, the service received from the server was severely lacking. When a party member arrived late, she took a looooong period to acknowledge they were there, though had been told that another member was coming, (her attention had to be called for from a party member) and get their order. Then only saw her a couple of times while dining, to drop off two of the meals of the party, only once asked if anyone needed a tea refill, the last was to drop off THE check (Of which, she never asked if anyone of the party desired separate checks or all on one). She put all on ONE CHECK. The tip left, reflected for the size of the party and the fact that there were only had three denominations of bills in my wallet (one small ($5.00) and one way too large ($100.00)). A joke was made in the party of a tip of $0.02 (two cents) should be left due to the lack of service received. Though there are not really that many restaurants in Leesville/New Llano to choose from, not really sure when we might return to this establishment. read more
