50-odd years ago, Waffle House was my go-to for late night munchies. Today was only my second time back since then, as I had left their service area to move West. My memories were accurate and/or they have not changed and have maintained their ability to put a very good meal on the table for much less than expected. This particular Waffle House was very clean, and the staff was great. Friendly, quick and accommodating. The food was very good. I ordered a waffle with sausage on the side, and two eggs over easy. The waffle was fluffy, the sausage was very flavorful, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. For the price, I can't think of a better spot for an early afternoon brunch. read more

Sure, it's greasy spoon cuisine, but it's served up hot, and cheap, and quick, with a couple extra butter pats worth of history, heritage, and friendly down-home grace. First off, we love Waffle House and have eaten at them in numerous states. Second, we will never come back here again. I ordered a pecan waffle and a side of crispy bacon. My husband ordered the breakfast with eggs over hard. Number one, my waffle was barely lukewarm and when I put their cold "butter " on it, there was no melting to it. Number two, I love crispy bacon. They brought me a plate of what must have been the rejected burnt bacon. I looked at it when she brought it and she said "You said you wanted it crispy!" Like a joke. I went ahead and ate it because I could not get her attention again, and she never came back and asked if everything was all right. It was so overcooked that it made a powder in my mouth and I couldn't finish it. Third, my husband ordered his eggs over hard, and the yolk was not even done. Fourth, their coffee is so horrible, that my husband went out to the car and got my "to go" cup of coffee for me, so I could have something to wash the bacon powder down. Lastly, I had to ask for a receipt after I had paid. She said "You said you didn't need a receipt. I looked at her and said "I never said that." She looked flustered and then remembered and said "Oh, yeah, right." Soooooo done with this place. I would have hated to see what it was like when it's busy. read more

This is a typical Waffle House. The food is decent, if unremarkable. The service is always good, even during peak hours. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only restaurant in Asheville that is open 24 hours. So if you're in need of a late-night meal, you won't have many other options. I mean it's Waffle House, the staff are usually friendly and funny, enjoy the staff at most locations I've been to. The hash browns are the star of the show here, so many options and they are just good, my favorite thing there. The waffles are pretty good too, the blueberry one is my fave. The grist however were lumpy and meh when I tried them, I wasn't too thrilled with the grit bowl I had. It's a good spot for breakfast, better than Dennys or most other places of the like. read more

The waitress was horrendous! She cleared my plate while I was still eating. I don't know if she was having a bad day but I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant before. She just couldn't be bothered with us. She dropped our jam in dirty puddle of water on the floor and placed it on the table! Who does that!? Poor representation of this establishment. The experience here was like nothing I could have ever imagined. It was similar to the diner vibes in a movie. The service was short, quick, and to the point. Food was cheap in quality and price. The temperature of the establishment was set to near freezing, as I assume it was to get customers in and out quickly. Not sure if we will return but we left feeling very satisfied and drove off with a smile on our faces (mostly due to the unique attitude of our waitress). Waffle House is an American institution and I had never been. So of course I had to stop for breakfast one morning while I was in Asheville. Inside was much smaller than I had imagined. We did have to wait for a table for about 15-20 minutes. Everyone who works here is very friendly and it seems like, based on the interactions I saw, that there are quite a few regulars that visit this location. I ordered my meal a la carte, but I was not expecting to get 4 pieces of toast with my meal, along with my waffle. All the carbs! I also was not prepared for how sweet the waffle was going to be. My body only went into slight shock. I could pretty much eat the waffle without hardly any syrup at all. The eggs and bacon were decent. I was definitely satisfied with the portion of food I received and I had to take leftovers. The price is also extremely cheap, which I'm assuming is the big draw here, as well. I would say that the food pretty much met my expectation for what I thought a Waffle House experience would be like. I do prefer other types of diners for breakfast, but coming here once for the experience was well worth it! read more

This is one of the best (read: clean) Waffle Houses I have ever been to. Service was very fast and friendly and the food was pretty good. The manager was waiting at the door for us and held it open as we went in. Also, later during our meal, he brought out a little Waffle House hat for our 4-year old daughter. Service was fast and friendly, food was great, space was clean. Disgusted that three short-staffed people were stuck serving the entire 20+ customers in this establishment. These people were working like dogs. Increase wages so it's worth it for people to actually work there. I tipped 120% on the bill. The owner should be ashamed. Nobody should have to work under those conditions. Watching those employees give it their all with no support made this an uncomfortable and miserable experience as a diner. This Waffle House made me jealous. The WHs in Indianapolis are filthy and scary. This place was neither of those things. It was spotlessly clean, including the restrooms. Service was super friendly and very fast. The food was no frills, done well. Breakfast for three was less than $25. Bonus, we brought in our refillable mugs and they filled them with tea and coffee for us. read more

Not my favorite Waffle House visit, but A-OK. I don't have high expectations for a Waffle House, but most are pretty reliable, at least in my experience. This one had a slightly different vibe - more rundown than down home. I was weirdly disappointed by my hash browns not coming out in circle - it's such a dumb thing to care about but it just wasn't the same getting my potatoes in a flat pile instead of the perfect circle that I found so cool as a kid. The Grand Slam is our go to breakfast including a chocolate peanut butter waffle. This place is super busy; however, they have good service so the tables turn frequently. It's pretty consistent; however, depending on who is cooking the eggs they can vary in doneness. read more

I went in around 1 a few nights ago and this server betty something was very rude. I ordered a hash brown bowl and only wanted banana peppers and got everything but that. When I told her she then refused to complete my order and made another server take our order. Just very rude service read more

The staff tonight crushed it! There was a blonde female server-I wasn't able to catch her name, but she was very friendly and professional with all the customers and even helped the cook on the grill when he stepped away. I believe I heard the name David, and another gentleman working at the register who took our drink order-I believe his name was Marcus, I am so sorry if I got the names wrong! All of the staff were friendly and helpful and crushed it with as busy as they were tonight! I wanted to leave more than the 22% we left, and I will definitely return to pass forward the gracious hospitality! My husband and I have worked 13+ years in food and beverage (myself as a server, my husband as a chef), so we appreciate the quality of food and service we received this evening! I love this WH location! The breakfast crew is super friendly and energetic. You never have to watch some nut job playing with their phone while your food grows cold behind them. They run like a well oiled machine. The employees are so super devoted that when we do get an actual snowfall they stay in a hotel across the road so that someone will be there to cook food for you when you have no power! The food? Well it's WH, but I love it! I'm sure I'll never bump into Gordon Ramsay there, but I doubt I'll ever bump into him anyway. The food is super consistent and the waffles are among the best I've ever had! We come at least once sometimes 3 or more times a week and have never had a single issue with service, food, or even the cleanliness of the whole property! I'm not sure who the overall boss is, but they should be super proud of their team! This is how you do customer service right! read more

About a year or so ago they demolished this place - I'm talking razed to the ground. It has since been rebuilt (I'm assuming it must have been cheaper than a remodel) and represents part of a new era for Waffle House. I've always been a fan especially when travelling - you have an idea of what you're getting. Mostly it's the staff that makes it a hit or miss. The outside of the building has a cool mural of images from days past in Waffle House. I guess it's supposed to make you feel nostalgic and remind you that this place is a part of the American landscape - not a bad marketing angle. This location is easy access from I-40 off the Smokey Park Highway Exit (44). All of my experiences here have been good ones. Never seems to be that busy because it's surrounded by so many fast food places. In reality, a meal here isn't that much more expensive than a drive thru (tip excluded). read more

This is one of the best Waffle Houses I have ever been to. The manager, Yahoo, is always watching the floor and helping both his team and his guests. Even on a busy holiday like Labor day, where they're one of the few restaurants to keep regular hours, all of the employees kept great attitudes, and most of them were smiling.
