Quite a small branch of 'Smiths' with the usual collection of books, magazines, newspapers, greetings cards, etc. Usually quite friendly - one lady in particular who always has a smile and a friendly greeting, however busy she might be. read more

Good traditional bookshop (it's even been in the Independent)! The staff are all very friendly, and…read morethe selection of books is good, if not extensive. In particular they have rather a lot of books on the local area (helpful for tourists, fascinating for locals). Like most non-chain booksellers the place is small, but what it lacks in size it truly makes up in character!

The shop also has children's toys and various interesting items for children. There are beautiful pieces of jewellery and unusual gifts, all packed into a small space. Well worth a good long look.

When I went I bought sinister 7 spiderman comic for 7.99 and I was also given a free comic book and a comic book full of reviews of other comics. I love this shop, being a self proclaimed geek and big kid. Although it's not very big there is a…read morelot of goodies packed into the store. There is all manner of comics and graphic novels on sale ranging from all your favourite super heroes from Marvel and DC to Manga titles to the more adult titles by Alan Moore and Frank Miller. I especially love the range of action figures that they stock which are hard to get hold of locally. My Mcfarlane figure of The Crow has got pride of place in my Cinema room. Part of the store upstairs is ofter closed off to the public which can be frustrating as I don't go into Swansea that often. Shame the store was'nt bigger so they could pack more stuff in.

Waterstones

As a Cardiff citizen I think I've been rather spoilt by our Waterstones branch. This Swansea store…read moreis unfortunately not as large as the one in the Welsh capital which inevitably means the book selection on offer is also not as good or extensive. Additionally whilst Cardiff seems to attract some prolific authors (and the not so prolific- I'm thinking Jordan), this branch never seems to get any. It does however have one advantage over the Cardiff store however, and that is that it houses a small Costa Coffee, which means if you're desperate to start reading your purchases straight away it is quite easy to do so.

The Works

Often, they are reduced to about a quarter of the original price and sometimes more! They also sell lovely stationery, address books and diaries, artists' materials, greatly reduced DVDs and CDs, and greetings cards and gift wrap. In the pedestrianised part of Neath town centre.
