On the top floor you will find DVDs, games and CDs. The till here is usually quiet and the shop generally empty. Downstairs it is a whole different story. On the ground floor you will find stationery, office supplies and their vast selection of books. There is two sets of tills downstairs and the ones at the front of the store are exceptionally busy, often queueing into the book aisles. The staff are friendly and helpful but the store is somewhat disorganised, for instance they have shelves of books behind the smaller till, hard for a customer to reach. Their book prices are reasonable but I think a lot of their stationery and office supplies are expensive.

They have a special till for where you can order books and collect them when they are in. The staff are lovely and friendly and will help you find whatever you are looking for.The store is vast and very clean and tidy, it does get a bit jumbled after people have read through stuff and just put them back anyway but usually it is tidy and well stocked. They also have a small stock of pop and confectionary.

Nothing could be more worth the spend than a really great book to get your grey cells going, be it non-fiction, biography or fiction, any good book can last a lifetime and be re-read more than enough times to make it worth buying in the first place! Just Books is great for just that, being as they sell exactly what they say, just books. There are hundreds to choose from at really good prices, although similar to a charity shop, you need to dig for your treasure. It's by no means a Waterstones or an Ottakers in here, so I wouldn't go looking for anything too specialist, but certainly for an impulse treat it's a great start. They do plenty of deals too so you won't be short on reading material after a little visit here! Expand your minds with some lovely reading - go and have a browse!

A small section for calendars so not just for books, the shop has a variable opening time on Sundays depending on weather or not the market is on and weirdly for an Otley shop it's actually open on Sunday.

It's a sweet little shop absolutely crammed with cheap books, aka three for a fiver. My only complaint is that they're not in much of an order (such as alphabetical) so you have to have time and patience to weed through them until you find what you want.

The classical music playing in the background gives it an austere feel and the window display of nature/gardening orientated books reminds you are shopping amongst the middle aged. Maybe I'm old before my time as this is what dragged me in most recently but when it comes to bookshops I don't even need a nudge. There is a large local section with books and maps about Ilkley, the Moors and Yorkshire, in historical, fictional and photographic form. There is a fiction section and I liked the 'our choice' stand that had books mostly about - you guessed it - Yorkshire, on it. There is a large cookery and travel section and apart from books they sell penguin mugs and bags. I didn't venture downstairs but I hear there is a classical music section selling sheet music and CDs, alongside British and foreign film DVDs. The building…read moreoutside is gorgeous and inviting, with stark royal blue woodwork, and it sits on one of the main high streets so it's easy to locate. It sells a good deal of standard titles. Selling a range of musical books, from contemporary, jazz, folk and more, as a musician (or budding musician) you couldn't want for more! The staff are helpful if you get stuck, which is always a bonus, so have no fear if you're not sure what it is you are looking for. They also have a whole host of fiction, classics, children's books and a load of lovely Yorkshire related titles. On a slightly more odd note, like I said - quirks, at the time of shopping they had a bunch of children's titles in the window for Christmas. All looked normal, cute and such until I noticed one most peculiar title. It was a picture booked called "Santa needs a wee!" Possibly the funniest and most bizarre Christmas related child's book I've ever seen. Awesome.

This is a really good book store with many bargains to be had. It is deep in the heart of kirkgate…read moremarket and seems to have been there for years. The assistant is usually an elderly lady who is very polite and helpful and treats you like her best customer. The books range from colouring books for little ones to encyclopedias to lots of fiction and horror books. There is a vast choice and the prices arent too dear either. They also sell second hand books at a cheap price too. You can also take back any book you have bought from the shop and get money off your next book which is a good idea too and saves you lots of money. Well worth a visit.

Absolutely fab for cheap wrapping paper, at around 15p a sheet, with 4 for 50p, it's a real…read morebargain. Some of the paper is gorgeous as well, so its well worth stocking up when they have a pattern you like. There is also a huge selection of cards, although in my opinion these are slightly more expensive then you'd expect looking at the rest of the shop, and I could find nicer elsewhere. The staff seem friendly and polite, and overall I would say it's definitely worth a look in.

The bead and finding selection (for jewellery makers) is quite good if not comprehensive, with the odd item I have had trouble finding elsewhere without buying online. I certainly have never been able to get out of the place without the odd purchase from this section! Their crafting books selection is also pretty good, with some items I have not seen in the likes of Borders or Waterstones, and I have found some good items in the art/modelling section too (great Fimo range).
