There is another place like that further up on the Cowley Rd, whose name I have blocked from my memory. My go-to order for late nights when I just needed hot food was the Thai chicken curry. Good flavours, fills you up. We had spare ribs, pork dumplings and chicken chips for starters. The chicken chips were small pieces of chicken breast dusted with spices, fried and served with chillies and sugar an odd combination; everything else was as expected and nice. For mains we had crispy beef and Gung Po chicken with Singapore noodles: all of which was good. The food was better than you'd expect at this price, and the staff were friendly. There is ample free parking outside in the evening, but as it isn't far from the shops it is chargeable during the day.

I brought my flatmates here, almost couldn't find it, you can easily pass it as the sign of the restuarant is not that eye-catching. Walking in, I noticed that it was a very authetic place, everything was gorgeous! The tables were made of glass/wood and you can see every little detail, plus the showers of coins inside the table..*I'll include a picture once I do some uploads* It was filled with people, which is ALWAYS a good sign. I think there were one-two servers, which was fine, they attended to us in good timing. I ordered the seafood pad thai, wanting the best of both worlds, well besides the chicken since it is seafood, for 7 pounds. Also, i grabbed a milky iced tea for about 3 pounds, less though. My pad thai was good! It was moisted enough and easy to get through, nevermind the good portion size. I hate it when my pad thai is all dried and overcooked. It was light too, not overly greasey. The milky iced tea tasted just like..thai iced tea, so maybe is it that? Besides the fact it wasn't very orange, it did taste like something I can make at home though, but i throughly enjoyed it. Thank god our food came before that big party's.....cause we'd be waiting FOREVER if theirs came first--theirs came after. It's really warm inside..but the temperature changes when you walk into the loo, haha, unexpected.

The red/green make the place pop. I know that the whole bench thing bothers some people, but I quite like the idea, even though it seems very grade-school-ish. The food came out very quickly. My boyfriend and I couldn't finish our game of dots before the food arrived! I ordered a Vegetable Chinese Curry with Udon Noodles, and he ordered a Sweet and Sour Chicken with Egg Fried Rice. Mine was a nice change from a normal vegetable stir fry, which tends to be a bit boring. However, the description said it was slightly spicy, while I detected no spice. Mine came with weird tofu puffs, which I admit I've had better, especially considering I got 2 pieces of tofu. However, in all I think I enjoyed it, although if I ate there again I probably wouldn't order that. My boyfriend liked his sweet and sour chicken, and I admit now I wish I had gotten my vegetables with sweet and sour stuff. But oh well, there's always next time :)

I've visited Dragons (as it is affectionately called between friends and family local to the area)…read morefrequently and over several years. Its a regular place to go for birthdays if you're a bit low on £, and usually you get what you pay for. Dragons consists of two parts, a buffet and a serviced area. The buffet is much more preferable in my experience- more people go for it, as its cheaper, contains more items and you can go up as many times as you like for a plate refill! The serviced area is more expensive (well, it would be!) but lacks the greasiness that the buffet area is infamously renowned for. So, its positive points are: its cheap, its cheerful, popular for teenage parties- and I've even seen a few hen nights start there. Overall, a positive social gathering place. Even if the food does suck. However, the negatives are that the food is either overpriced or waaay too greasy (or both); the labels on food can sometimes leave you slightly puzzled, and there have been occasions where they've placed a food platter under the wrong label; the wait service often appears highly stressed; if you spend more than an hour there the door is mentioned bluntly and repetitively until you start moving for it; and finally every time I've gone, I've done some mental addition, and somehow (even counting in a more than generous tip, when were were mostly left unattended during our time there) every party I've been to has been charged more than we originally thought, leading to awkward scrabbling for spare change in everyones pockets and resentful muttering about either shoddy mental math skills or ridiculous pricing (usually the latter). It could be said that, however much we dislike the service, the unpleasant way we're treated like nothing more than a process for getting into our wallets and purses rather than at least pretending that we're valued customers- there is a humbling arrogance that comes with the place, and its a popular venue for mostly skint late-teenagers to swipe a bit of money off their parents and be a bit socially independent of said parents. Also, they do lunch buffets for those who just can keep away from destroying their figures, & early evening is great for stuffing fat and junk into kids- and, well, its probably better than ol' Mackie D's. but so is radioactive waste, IMO.

I have had totally different experiences to the other reviewer about this Chinese buffet…read more It costs around £10 per person for an all you can eat Chinese buffet - prices depend on when you visit. There is plenty to choose from with around 15 starters and 15 main courses along with dessert, if you go in the evening there is duck and panckes. I have never found a fault with any of the food that I have had here - always hot and never lacking in something that I wanted. The drinks here are expensive around £2.50 for a coke but there has never been an issue with just having a jug of water. I do agree that the waiters and managers of the restaurant aren't great. The manager just stands by the buffet glaring at everyone as you eat your meal - however he soon stopped when I glared back for just as long! Plates are cleared from the table regularly. You can tell it's a good value good tasting place because you will very rarely get a table if you just turn up at 8pm - booking is advised!!
