There are never enough clerks at this store. The lines in the deli department is super long and the. The check out line is even longer. The store is always clean and clerks are polite but other than that I have nothing else positive to say about this location. And they shares a parking lot with Planet Fitness so parking isn't the greatest. My only pleasure is being waited on by the cashier named Milton. If it weren't for the fact that I work in the area I would never ever go in there. read more

Unfortunately I must come to this Vons everyday due to my relationship with US Bank, but please avoid doing business with this place. Today I waited 25 minutes to pay for 1 water. Overall service is horrible, the cashiers don't care, management don't care. I feel like we are here asking for free groceries but we are not, we are paying customers!!!!! This location is very profitable for the company but they don't want to hire more help, it's like the have a monopoly in the area cause there are no decent super markets around the area. So this review is about customer experience rather than goods offered. I work close to this store so I frequently pop in to pick up lunch, Starbucks or groceries for dinner before heading home for the day. Without fail, the lines are always unapologetically long and the workers appear to move at a snail's pace. This has been an issue for at least a year. I held off writing this review because I thought things would get better but nope....not so. I've also spoken to management on one occasion and that too has proven to be futile. When I walked in I had no idea what I needed and when I did decide it was going to be a little more than the standard basic request. This is my neighborhood market and the closest one to me. If you want reasonably priced items, my recommendation is to either get the app and check to see what's on sale, go online and see what's on sale or go inside and get the sales paper. Von's is sooo expensive and to me it doesn't make sense to buy high priced items that I could get somewhere else for cheaper. But that's just me. I only come here if I absolutely have to which would be for something that I forgot to get from another store far away. The customer service is pretty good so no complaints there. I don't particularly care for their produce section though. Every time I go I can't find what I'm looking for or it takes me forever to find it. Just go for the sales if you can help it. read more

I've had a love-hate relationship with this particular store for well over three years now. I still remember the assistant manager Marko; who since left for greener pastures. He was always exceptionally kind to us. Also, this store was first-opened in 1992; (same year I was born); so I've always felt a bit nostalgic whenever I came in here. However; life changes, and as we all know, not always for the better. Unfortunately this store is no exception. While getting some things right consistently, they are missing the bar way too much when it comes to other areas. The security; and most of the porters, are extremely charismatic; friendly, and helpful. Same with the security guard at the front; especially the one on night shift. This store is very safe, and the bathrooms and common access areas are always very clean and shiny. Also; the produce is almost never & I mean never, moldy, spoiled, or out-of-date. I can't honestly remember the last time (if there even ever was any); that I've purchased bad produce from this place. Now that's saying something. They also have a full sushi bar & in-store Starbucks. On a final note; and perhaps most important of all; - let's talk management. Needs to be changed; make that replaced. The customer service desk; the cashiers (most of them), & even the baristas, are abhorrent! I've been treated exceptionally rudely and flat-out disrespected more times than I can even recall to memory. There is simply no excuse for that; besides for one assistant manager in the morning and some various workers on the floor; I feel totally unwanted and unwelcome here. No matter how lousy your day is there is absolutely no right of you to take it out on the general public you are hired to serve. I'm going to leave it at that. This store has scammers. I ordered on the app and when I went to pick it up there were substitutions. I told them I didn't want it. So they took the food back and claimed there was no manager to process the return until the next day. They promised I would get a full refund. Lies....Several days later they refund me $5. My order was $35.02. Well, it turns out they made it seem like I kept the food and gave me a credit for $5 as an inconvenience fee. So shady. I called customer service and thankfully they believed that I didn't get the food and refunded me the correct amount. Where's the food I returned??? Probably stolen. That's exactly why food prices are rising. Terrible. I tried to speak to a manger and have been on hold for almost an hour. They need a mystery shopper to infiltrate this MESS of a store. read more

I have lived in Inglewood since 2002, and this Vons Market was excellent then. No expired food products on the shelves, fresh produce, fresh meat, and if you needed assistance, someone was always available to help you locate an item you couldn't find. Well, now it is 2019, and how times have changed. Actually it started going down at least 7 or 8 years ago. I was purchasing a bag of dry cat food, only to realize it had expired 3 years ago. I complained to the Manager at the time, a Hispanic gentleman. I not only told him about the expired cat food, I also told him about the expired dairy products, and stale bread. He assured me things would be corrected. Not so. In fact it has gotten soooo much worse. If you want quality fresh food, shop at the Vons in Gardena, their pies and cakes are delish, not to mention their fresh produce and meat dept. I would rather drive a few miles away than take my chances on the Vons Market at 500 E Manchester. One last thing, I must commend the pharmacy department, they are very competent and knowledgeable. There's a young looking heavyset woman with glasses that was there to assist customers but her attitude was disgusting and apathetic. Simply appalled that the security guard parks his car in the 15 minute Starbucks parking space when it clearly states for Starbucks only. He is at work for a minimum of 2 hours I'm sure. This is the 2nd time this week that I noticed his van in the Starbucks parking space, both times he was getting out of the driver seat. I stop here often just for Starbucks so it would be nice to run in and out and park close. Isn't that what the Starbucks parking spaces are for. The part that blows me away is the fact that it was a Sunday morning and it was plenty of other parking spaces available but he chose to park in the Starbucks space. So inconsiderate. Two out of my three grocery deliveries have been nothing but headaches...first off, this store does not answer their phone for either customers or their own customer service employees...this has happened on two different occasions on two different times/days....I received half my order this morning at 10 am....for some unknown and unacceptable reason, the balance of my order cannot be delivered until between 10 and noon tomorrow....If I wanted my order tomorrow I would have scheduled it so...This is terrible and I'm seriously considering doing my grocery deliveries from Ralphs...can't be any worse!!! read more

I moved to SoCal recently from Sacramento and I've been a Safeway customer for many years. Safeway is VONS parent company and when I say the customer service at this location is non existent please believe me!! Safeway in northern Cali understands customer service should be top-notch. I actually had to argue with the night-time supervisor regarding MY money for items that I was overcharged for.. I was having issues with my J4U and needed a refund. It took the cashier AND the night supervisor 30 minutes to figure it out, I told them to just give me my money back since after all that time waiting for them to adjust my total my deli hot food was cold and the salad was warm. They lost a sale by their sheer unprofessional behavior and ridiculous responses as to why I was overcharged. The supervisor tried to tell me I hadn't entered items correctly in the app but I pointed out to her almost all of my items were j4u and everything in my cart was processed correctly except for the 2 items that I was overcharged for, instead of her adjusting the price and using corporates price guarantee, she tried to tell me "I didn't know how to use the app, just like her mother" SMH DO BETTER! Ive been shopping at this store for at least a decade. It was once my fav store. It went from one of the best grocery stores in the vicinity to just a bad store. Parking lot has issues: Its shared with Planet Fitness. Their patrons take up at least 1/3. There is a lot of commercial carpooling vehicles who use this lot as a pick up point. The carpool patrons park their vehicles in lot for at least a good 8 hours. There are homeless people who have made this parking lot a permanent parking location. Local residence who cant find limited street parking will park in lot. Downtown Inglewood patrons will also park here to avoid meters. If there is an event at Forum, this lot will be full of Forum patrons as well. If you come here, chances are you will have to hunt for far and near parking. Stock availability issues: They dont stock stuff a lot of their advertised sales. NOT that they ran out of stock of such items. THEY DONT SELL THE ITEMS, period. I had to go to other Vons stores to grab such items that are not available here. What is the whole point of advertising sale items in local paper when store doesnt even stock them? Expired products: Before I fill my cart with any groceries, I always check expiration dates, condition, etc. This store has a HUGE issue with moving products and/or discarded expired products. I have to fish through at least 3 of the same item to get one that has not expired. A lot of times they put "managers special" on expired products. Dont buy this stuff. Saving bucks is not more important than your health. PERISHABLE GO BACK products have gone bad and are mixed with good products: This store has issues with "go backs." "Go backs" are items that are removed from original location and discarded in a discarded cart or left in another location. ALL PERISHABLE GO BACKS should be discarded. Thats not this stores practice. employees are told to put them back in original location, regardless of how spoiled, rotten, etc, they have gotten. Ive picked up several items like this and put them back immediately. Available cashiers are scarce: You wonder why lines are long? Why have all these cash registers, but only 20% opened? Then when a cashier try to call on someone to open another cash reguster, the person takes his or her sweet time. If you go to them, they give you attitude. This is your fucking job. If you don't like it, quit! Available baggers are scarce: They must think this is Food4less or Superior. Because Im always doing my own bagging. If i allow the cashier to do it, he or she usually use one bag, like they are paying for bags out their pocket. Also, i have to tell them to separate food from chemicals. They will put bleach with your meat. Cashiers: Most of these cashiers have attitudes. Especially that bitch Keisha R. Shes a black light skinned big lip fat ugly anti-social four eyed women who looks at you crazy when you greet her, give her coupons, ask her relevant questions, try to be nice, etc. I dont see how she got pass the job interviewer to even land this job. I know her name because its on my receipt. Not to mention I read her name tag. FYI I dont have a problem with big women. Im attracted to all sizes. I just dont like this big ugly mean woman. Security: Look at my pics of the old light skinned fat security guy. Ive seen this guy harass every one from teens to elderly. Yet every time I walk down an aisle, i see evidence of theft (opened groceries, etc). One time i was walking out store with my groceries. This guys stopped me like I was at walmart. He wanted to mark my receipt? He didnt do that to anyone in front of me. I ignored him. The only good thing about this place is they have new shopping carts. But i just came from Gardena location and they have the same new carts. All vons locations may all have new carts. So this location is nonexclusive to that. Only reason I go to this Vons is geographic convenience. Otherwise, i would head to Gardena, etc. Two stars for the few nice cashiers and employees. Otherwise it would be 1 star. read more

What happened with the Vons cakes? My husband purchased a cake for my birthday. It was a frosting cake! There was a thin layer of cake and the rest was frosting. When you cut into it, it just mushed right over, like you were just picking up globs of frosting. It was a waste and disaster. My 8 year old didn't finish a "slice" and he loves frosting. He said it was too much...SMH. Ended up throwing more than half away. Everytime I come here, there are not enough checkers and lines are looooong. I gave 2 stars for the clean store and nice selection. But you have to have a lot of extra time to shop when you come here because more than likely you will have a long wait to check out. I have gone to this store for over 20 years. I have been through their strike, and remodels. The recent remodel was very nice although it was just a facelift. The very core of what's makes a store successful is the quality of the food and its service. Why is there still expired items on the shelf!? I have had to return foul smelling chicken, expired chips and sauce. This is worse than a discount store like the 99cents store. At least there were know to inspect the expiration in exchange for the low price. It's shameful other customers are buying items and may not be aware that they must check the expiration dates. I am writing this review because I emailed corporate and received a response back that had so many grammatical mistakes that redirected me to call the store. Even though I had attempted to speak to management one Sunday, I was told she was on a long phone call and couldn't be interrupted. Upon receiving their letter , I called the number to the local store as requested and I was out on hold for 9 minutes before I just hung up. I hope with the new Stadium more quality store will come. Planet Fitness is right next to this Vons and I come here sometimes for a post workout snack. I really love that they carry organic products. Love their fresh juice and cheeses. Future deliveries are between $6.95 and 12.95 depending on time window/day of week/etc. I chose the 2 hour window (more expensive but since my first time, free!) 7-9 pm time slot, and they were here by 7:15. They also have a no tipping policy. No more painful trips to the grocery then even more painful trips up the stairs to my 2nd floor condo (which has 4 heavy fire doors before you get to my place). Don't know about anyone else, but my time is worth way more than $13 an hour - bring on the premium delivery times! P.S. They even deliver alcohol and cigarettes! read more

Another complete waste of a trip to this store today. It's all about the unbearable checkout lines here, and it always has been. Having shopped (or tried to shop) at this Vons for about 15 years, I know that the worst times to come are between 5 and 7 pm. The after work crowd comes and the store never staffs the registers appropriately. On one most scary experience here that taught me a harsh lesson, I came during those hours only to find just one checker open with the line stretching ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BACK WALL OF THE STORE. This could have easily been a Saturday Night Live comedy bit. Upon me aborting my mission here and leaving, I saw one of the lead checkers hanging out at the Starbucks counter and I asked her "why the long line?". Her response - "Well I'd like to help but I'm on my break now and they'll just have to wait". That pretty much sums things up here. "Union mentality" is alive and well here. So I'm a quick learner. I NEVER come here during "evening rush". Today I happened to be driving by around noon and in need of a few items. I do my parking lot scan. Yay! It's not full at all. It looks safe to do some shopping without an hour long wait in the checker line. Upon entering the store I get my first ugly jolt- The checkout line stretches halfway to the store entrance, about 30 people long. That's a good half hour wait. I decide to brave it. It's really hot now and I desperately need to get a fix for my Cherry Coke addiction. I spend about 15 minutes shopping and upon reaching the checkout line I'm horrified to see that it's doubled since I got here. I just can't do an hour wait so I abort the whole mission. And sadly that's happened way too many times at this store. read more

If you're looking for something specific, you might want to look elsewhere. Although this Von's has a better selection then a lot of the other groceries in the area, they're still seriously lacking! I've been here on a number of occasions and at all various times of the day and evening, and the lines here are horrendous! You're going to wait in a line at least 4 or 5 people deep, no matter what time of day. It's like they limit the number of cashiers just to screw with their customers - or give you just enough time to remember something else so that you can add to your shopping cart. I like to first start off by saying, I am appreciative that this store stays open until 1 am. However, it does not matter what time of the day you come in guaranteed you will be waiting in line for a while before cashing out. The store does have a nice selection of organic produce as well as a wide selection of alcohol beverages. But there selection of fresh seafood or variety of meats is few and far between. But, they do have a selection of frozen meats and package seafood available but not a huge selection. The aisles are clean and well kept and the restrooms are semi decent with no trash on the floor but sometimes theirs no soap in the dispenser. I come to this location only if I have time to spare since I know I'll be waiting awhile. read more
