It's an older and smaller Vons but there's not too many choices in the area. The prices are ok but the selection is limited.

Vons offers a great selection and value, especially if your a VonsClub member. Whenever I go to this location, I can find pretty much what I need, and sometimes as a bonus, the have the meats on clearance...AWESOME!!! The 50% sticker is like a magnet for me!!!! So honest! I arrived probably around 11pm, shopped, and left. Silly me, only to realize the NEXT morning that I've left my wallet in the cart outside! I went back and was handed off to different people only to be sent home later because "it might be in the safe upstairs" but nobody could know for sure until the guy that has access to the safe comes in for his shift. Went back the next day and they had it for me! I guess one of their employee's found it in the cart & returned it. Not sure what it is about this location, but I really don't like it. There's another one up the street that I like a lot more. Vons always seems to have a problem with their lines. There's not enough check stands open and it takes forever. The main reasons this store gets 2 stars from me is their produce section, and the meat section. The produce just doesn't last long when I bring it home than from other stores I buy the same thing at. They do have decent prices for their veggies but the fact they don't last long is always concerning. Their meat is also INSANELY expensive. I go to Stater Bros all the time for whatever meat I need. Their steaks and everything else are constantly $2 or so cheaper a pound... not to mention the quality at Stater Bros is much better. This Vons is also the only one I've ever been to that has problems with getting stuff delivered. In the last year I've been to Vons twice and they were completely out of chicken breasts. Last time I was told to just go to another chain if I needed some because they had warehouse issues. Probably not a bad idea. read more

This was my Go-to Vons/ grocery store because of how close it is to home. I usually have a great experience here, but the last few times have been horrible. I went in for a late night ice cream run, and surprised the fiancé with some flowers. They had a nice section of flowers, and it looked well kept. Upon check out, I felt like I was a burden in line. I wasn't even acknowledged by the cashier, and he just rang me up and said the total. I gave him the cash, and he slammed the register shut after getting my change. For now on, I will go the extra mile to get good customer service. read more

This Vons is one the most convenient locations around town. It is pretty easy to get into from several avenues and parking is almost always easy peezy. The store is artfully laid out with a nice selection of specialty deli and bakery items and the staff have always been friendly. My only gripes would be that the aisles are relatively smaller than normal I would say, making the passing maneuver on the elderly lady hanging out by the Velveeta, a risky maneuver. Also, the meat area here is pretty limited...compared to other even lower end markets. Other than that...If need some groceries, or olive marinated buffalo mozzarella...they have got you covered. read more

This establishment is the closest supermarket from my home -- a whomping 2.9 miles. However, I would gladly drive past this Vons to Trader Joe's -- an additional five miles -- to pick up my grocery needs. Horrible, dirty, unsanitary...........not a place where I would ever again go to purchase food, nor would I recommend anyone else go there, either. Service Deli staff DID NOT wash their hands before handling food, when coming into the Deli area from outside.......just put on gloves with those dirty hands, and proceeded to slice cheese. Needless to say, I didn't buy any. I only went there for convenience sake, as I was already in that center. In retrospect, I should have gone to Albertsons, and will NOT make this mistake ever again. Picked up two bottles of Orange Juice, which were covered with some black substance......also pick up 4 naval oranges, which were mostly rotting or old and dried out. Vons will never see me again.....and I feel badly for those who for whatever reason have to frequent what in my opinion is such a substandard grocery store. read more

Okay, this is my first yelp. i am only doing it because i believe in the three strike rule. first was rasberries that seemed fine, but had mold on the bottom few. second was black berries that had mold throughout the center of the container. third happened today jan-3-2012 bought a "selected" brand frozen dinner kit it was dated for Dec-20-2011 with another Vons right down the street, maybe 1-1.5 miles away i will be going there from now IF I MUST USE VONS!!!! with other supermarkets around my area i don't think i will have too!!!! totally dissapointed! read more

Worst Vons I've shopped at. Normally I use Vons as my go to source for flowers and special occasions. I usually have great experiences with beautiful results. NOT HERE. I just went in to purchase flowers. The bunch I selected was tied with a pathetic string. I went up to the floral counter and stood waiting. The employee lady (standing two feet from me) refused to acknowledge me until I verbally asked her if I could please get some help. I asked only if I could buy a larger bow or pay to have the flowers wrapped like similar bouquets sitting at the counter and throughout the store (Is gotten this same help multiple times at other Vons). The lady then rolled her eyes and told me she couldn't sell me a bow or redo the flowers. And that I should go buy gift wrapping. Keep in mind this was sad while she stood surrounded with wrapping of all types, bows and ribbons. She then walked away without another word.......So ridiculously rude. If you can't even do the bare minimum you don't deserve my business. I will go somewhere that doesn't make me feel humiliated for shopping there. read more

I have nothing against this Vons, I just prefer the one that is literally a stones throw away. This Vons is a little less stocked and... well... I just prefer the way that the other one is organized/set up. The flowers at this one are a little better stocked though, I actually was in a pinch on Mother's Day and checked a couple of places and it was only here that I found descent flowers in stock. I am not sure I will be going back here! it is the closest to my house. The last two times I have been there I get a hand basket and gather my items as normal. Once I get to the front and the lines are long. there is always one express lane open (which has 3 times more people in it than other lines) then TWO other lines with people waiting down the aisles . F.Y.I there is a vons about 1.5 miles west on El Norte, I will be going there from now on. I am not sure if the manager is new there, budget cut backs... but it needs to change back to the way it was last year.... read more

The only Vons we shop at. I do not have a problem with the lines, I know what the peak time is and I go later on in the day or earlier. I like the meats most the time here but the problem I have is the meat that is on sale usually looks grey, which is why it is probably on sale in the first place. The employees are pleasant and helpful, even when they are short staffed that they try their best to move the lines and help customers. I know Mr. Paul has worked hard to make this Vons a great place to shop at. I see him everywhere, scraping stuff from the floors and moping so they remain clean, helping other employees with stocking and display and especially on the register when they are short staffed. The line was long, and I believe the cashier was the manager she was so nice, polite and really friendly. She was so profesional that wasn't rushing any of the costumers at the register like other stores. I was carring my baby and the nice young bag men helped me to take my groceries to my car. I didn't go often there but now i do. I went there in the evening and I felt safe. Costumer service was great "A+. ". Thank you. The store has continuing issues with products being sold past expiration dates. I'm not talking a couple days, I'm talking MONTHS. And this has been going on now for over a year. I've spoken to the Manager, Supervisors, Produce Manager, etc. and nobody seems to care. I spoke with Andrea today regarding the Motts Apple juice that I bought yesterday that has an expiration date of APRIL 7th. The only words I got from Andrea (Manager) were "I'm sorry" well sorry isn't working now. She also informed me that the store does a weekly inventory inspection. I questioned how she can explain why a product I purchased on 6/14/18 has an expiration date of 4/7/18. I've been going to this store for many years and I'm sorry to see how much this place has gone downhill. From cleanliness, to lack of customer service, unprofessional staff and now EXPIRED FOOD. As is usually the case, when I go to leave a negative review on a business I notice that I'm not the only one, so I'm not really adding much to their overall rating, however, I did want to criticize Vons because I'm tired of having to go on a wild goose chase every time I want to make a strawberry shortcake. I know they deliberately try to get you to walk around the entire store by having the shells in the bakery section sometimes and in the fruit section other times, however I'm tired of it and it's a waste of time, especially when they're entirely out of them. read more

Pros: Convenient location Ample parking Fairly clean Cons: High prices / Poor value Beggars/loiterers in the parking lot that make you feel uncomfortable Customer service is a hit or miss, long lines. I can see why people would go here for the convenient location (There are many apartment complexes just across the street). But it's not really worth it in my opinion, unless you're really trying to save on like 2 bucks of gas money. I don't really mind bagging my own groceries, and for awhile I figured that higher prices were worth it for the convenience. Despite being a block away from the Escondido Police station, there are surprisingly a lot of beggars around? They can be pretty aggressive, I've had a guy pull right up next to me on his bicycle asking to "borrow" my phone so he can "meet with his friends". I refused, and he continued to bother other shoppers with the same request, pulling right up beside them/blocking their way, etc. Similar situations have happened on multiple occasions, and it's just bizarre how commonplace it is. For the prices, you're better off shopping at Winco or Costco. read more

This store is frequently out of stock on items, and the lines are long. There is another, nicer Von's a few blocks away. Customer service is non-existent. The Answer to pretty much EVERYTHING is "I don't know." No offer to check or resolve s problem. A number of the workers here are overweight,and in my experience that means doing as little as possible to collect your pay check. Snide remarks, nasty looks and rolling eyes complete the experience. The reason this store remains open is simple - a captive audience of over 500 Senior apartments within a mile. A lot of seniors will go to the closest place. read more
