If I could give this office a 0 I would. To be concise with my review, I would first like to say if you have a real gynecological issue do not go here. Luckily my request was minimal, and it was still a nightmare. I was in need of a script that I discussed with my APRN, at my first appointment. When I called the office the following week to follow up on getting a script, it took multiple calls from me to the office and 3 weeks for her to get back to me. When I called for a refill 3 months later, I was informed I needed to make a follow up appt. to get it refilled. I was never told this when it was prescribed to me and I could not get a refill. The worst part of this review is I was upset with the lack of communcation from the start with my provider. One week later I received a letter saying my provider was releasing me from her care. Instead of the provider calling me and discussing the protocol, she dismissed me placing the blame on the me, the patient. Such an unprofessional way to handle this. And again, if you had an urgent matter, you would not have gotten the attention you needed. I'm 67 yrs old and not new to going to the gynecologist. Unfortunately, my previous provider who was amazing was now only accepting cash pay patients and I am insured. I'm being kind and not listing the name of my provider in this office. We deserve better care and treatment ladies. Do not go to this office. read more

Words cannot describe how truly wonderful Dr. Desai is. I thank God he was on call to deliver my son. I had to have an emergency cesarean and without him, I don't know what would have happened. From the minute I left my room to seeing my son for the first time, it was all done within Six minutes. I don't believe there is a better doctor in this world than him. Not to mention how friendly the staff is. Especially Alicia and Shawnee. With 10/10 being the best, I still don't think that's enough to reflect these people. read more

The doctors and ARNP at this facility are amazing, which is the only reason that I remain a patient there. The office staff and nurse (Angie) are all extremely rude and act like they hate their jobs as well as their patients. I would highly recommend that the management take a survey of their patients and find out how they are treated by the staff, because they are the "face" of the business and can definitely lead patients to leave their practice. read more

There are a lot of bad reviews and experiences from others, but honestly, this is the best care that I have had in a long time. All the doctors and nurse practitioners I saw were amazing when I was pregnant. They listened to me and helped answer my questions as this was my first child. Even before I was pregnant, they gave me good care and attention. The wait can be a little long at times, but that's because they offer such good care and have a lot of trusting patients that want to be seen by them. Save yourself and go elsewhere. I was referred by a coworker prior to becoming pregnant and had none to minor grievances. Once I became pregnant and felt my quality of care was sub optimal, I began asking around at work and found a wide range of opinions about their care also. The doctors are okay. I wouldn't rave about them. They don't read your charts and do not take proper notes for the other doctors to be informed about you while you rotate through for obgyn care. If you have no complications, that may not bother you. They seem very busy and the comments about it being a baby factory can definitely feel true when you want a little more from them. The most important problem that affects essentially all parts of your experience is ythe way the office is ran. They do not fax your referrals unless you call and then they will lie and say they did. They will also say they didn't receive things that other offices have said and proven that they have faxed. Either the fax machine is broken or there is no procedure in place for managing paperwork. There is also no accountability and some professional development in customer service would be a valuable investment. Many of the front office staff are poorly informed about the importance of their job in regards to running a health care office. I have obviously received healthcare before in my life, and it is truly astonishing the haphazard way the office is ran. They will return voicemails usually, but that is really the only way to get ahold of anyone. The office manager, Tammy, seems to do her best but I think her main task is cleaning up after the shit job her employees do all day. I would agree with all the negative reviews and wish I would have read them prior to trusting them with becoming a first time mother. The rudest receptionist ever!!! She stated that she had " more important things to do " besides to look for my paperwork. I had been there for 2 1/2 hours!!! Asking to be let in the (locked) hallway to use the restroom was a task that she couldn't even perform without an attitude!! I am just so happy Desai is my doctor. He not only delivered my baby girl, but also my sisters son. He listened to my birth plan and really made me feel comfortable. He has a great calming way to make you feel at ease and not worry. He has years of experience and is at the new hospital Advent near Ormond. My room was great and so were all the nurses. It was a great experience all around. The staff was very nice. I would recommend Dr Desai to anyone who wants a nice doctor that listens, is smart, experienced, and makes you feel at ease. read more

HORRIBLE! I will NEVER use this place again. I had an exam with a culture. I never got a lab result but I sure got a bill about 3 months later. I called them to pay the bill and ask for my results. The phone service is horrible. They take forever to call you back. They WILL NOT take a payment over the phone and referred me to pay on their site but it takes you to PAYPAL. I refuse to use PAYPAL due to all the scam emails I get from them. I have a HSA account they can debit. They refuse. NO one wants to return my call. Finally today a girl called me and said they will turn me over to collections if I dont pay in 3 months. Called me "DARLING". How OFFENSIVE to a client. I am 63 years old. I am no ones "DARLING". Gave me option to come in and pay ( I am out of state for 6 months) or to write my credit card info on the bill and send it in. NO WAY! That gets in the wrong hands and I have that fight on my end. But they dont want to take it over the phone due to "they have had to take people to court". Only company in Volusia county I have dealt with who puts the customer last. read more

if i could give this office 0 stars i would. save yourself a head ache and seek out a more competent obgyn to follow you through the most precious time of your life. this place could care less about their patients. absolute disgraceful the way my wife was treated. the subsequent failure of the medical staff providing service here lead to a major medical problem. trust this review, go elsewhere. i also want to add, after making my review i read through the other reviews. i absolutely believe they are made by staff. the response by "owner" stating to call to rectify a complaint is an absolute joke. just try to call, you will get a voicemail. and just go ahead and leave a vm, you will never get a call back. if you are okay with sub-par medical services- one that is a money mill that could not care less for their patients, this is the place for you. you will never get your patient profile read adequately, you will be treated with disrespect and rude staff, and drs that think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. read more

I went here for my first obstetrics appointment (for my second child), and felt entirely uncomfortable. The office staff was extremely rude when I expressed discomfort over some of the materials they had me sign. You are unable to select a doctor to see for the duration of your pregnancy, and you will be assigned whomever is free for your appointment, so if you have any preferences in your style or communication of doctors, it will be ignored. My care at this first appointment almost seemed administered as if I were a stupid cow and they had to shuttle me along into their mindset of thought. The first appointment consisted of simply meeting with a nurse to "assist" you in filling out simple paperwork about your medical history, and for the privilege, they charge you $100. You do not even see a doctor until your next appointment. Given how unwilling the practice seems to be towards any dissent, no matter how politely spoken, I would not recommend this practice towards anyone seeking obstetrical care. read more

I second the previous review. I would not recommend this practice. Just moved to Florida and found out I was pregnant. I went in for my first appt with the nurse, which really is just a nurse taking a pee sample and your vitals and that's it. I expressed my concern that I was bleeding and was brushed off, told it was normal. That evening I had a miscarriage. I was able to reach a doc after hours, who told me to go to the er if bleeding heavily, or make appt in the morning. In the morning I called the office to make an appt. I called from 7:30 to 9, finally reached someone at 9. She patched me through to a nurse, who's voicemail I received. I left a message. At 10:30 she called me back, I told her same thing I told receptionist earlier, she said she'll check with doc and call me back. At 11:30 I call back again, get voicemail, leave another message. Doc finally calls back and tells me they don't need to see me, she's pretty certain I had miscarriage and that's it. The whole thing was awful. Imagine having a miscarriage... I lost a planned pregnancy, didn't know what to do, if I was in danger, just scared and upset in general. And I have to stalk these people to get a call back, for them to just act like it was nothing, no big deal, like I'm hassling them. Ugh. read more

The worst front office staff I've ever experienced! Wouldn't see me since I had a DIGITAL insurance card that could be emailed to them for them to print. Instead of listening to me, the front office rudely said she can self-pay or reschedule! Not a care in the world or anything to even listen to me. This office has gone downhill for years. Health was not well-monitored 1. Labs results were delayed- I tested positive for gestational diabetes 1 MONTH before anyone TOLD ME MY RESULTS. 2. Wait times in office typically 1 hour- 3 hours. NOT KIDDING 3. Was pressured into C-section due to my age and being at my due date, even though baby was not in distress and all else was normal. 4. Doctors did not address my clotting disorder. 5. Office staff was only nice if early in the day- they just look overworked and sullen. Each request was met with annoyance and difficulty. 6. Hard to get ahold of in case of emergency. 7. I had a UTI that went undiagnosed for 6 months into my pregnancy (a pee sample is supposedly screened at every visit, but they didn't catch it. Im writing this in hopes things will change at this practice. I really wanted to like this OB office, but I didn't feel they monitored my actual health and actual needs very well. I had my first baby at 41 years old. I am a healthcare practitioner. The doctors are mostly ok. Dr. Desai and Dr. Bagwell are the most thorough about reading your chart, but NONE of them knew what to do about a chronic clotting issue that I have (and 10% of the population has). I learned later that I should have been on a blood thinner and none of the 4 doctors I saw prescribed one. Between that and the missed lab results on gestational diabetes, I could have lost my baby. I went on to have an unnecessary surgery because Dr. Robertson was in a hurry and blamed my age for needing a C-section. I still have some pain and scarring from the operation and I was robbed of my natural labor. I do not recommend this current OB practice, nor do I recommend FL Memorial Hospital for delivering as the birthing rooms are gross, they won't give you peace, the beds are uncomfortable, and there is no place for your husband to sleep/rest except a terrible chair that won't fit most males' height. Positives of Volusia OB: -Dr. T did a good circumcision on my son (but schedule quick as they fill up slots! -Offices are decently clean -Good ultrasound tech -reasonable scheduling BUT I would never use their services or recommend any of my friends to use them. read more

I hate to see such bad ratings. It just isn't true. Dr desai, and tapia are by far 2 of the best obgyns I have seen. Two very different but both very good. Desai is upfront and honest and doesnt get personal but he knows what the hell hes doing and I trust him with my life. Tapia gets more personal and she is just as good. read more

Due to personal reasons, I don't want a male doing a pap smear or any type of physical exam on me. Yet, when I expressed my concern on my first visit, I was basically told to suck it up and that I wasn't able to stick with one provider but that I would have to rotate between all of them. That is completely unacceptable to me, if i'm pregnant, I need to be comfortable with the changes going on with my body, and to have someone tell me that I don't have choices in what happens to my own body, is ridiculous. There are many other reasons that I won't be going back, but what i've already said is my main reason. Not to mention waiting over an hour to see a nurse who basically did nothing but make me feel like crap when I had the first appointment time of the day. read more

After a horrible time with my first birth, I found Volusia OBGYN through a friend. I went with her to her appointment and was amazed at how kind the Dr was and that she even remembered personal details about my friend and her husband that would not be in the charts. The office is clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. I became a patient for the delivery of my second child, and even though I had to go with whatever doctor was on call that day, (I wish I could have chosen) it all worked out. Now that I am pregnant a third time, I am back! I wouldn't have it any other way! read more

I agree with the other post above. I have been treated with little care throughout my entire pregnancy (my first successful). I have had quite a few complications (being 37, gall bladder surgery, horrible other stuff requiring 2 outpatient surgeries, and to top it off - anemia). The doctors have known about the anemia since my 11th week of pregnancy (I am now 39 1/2 weeks), and one of the doctors told me 2 days ago that he didn't understand how all the other doctors missed it, and I would most likely need a transfusion once I deliver. I called yesterday because I had a question about some things that are going on (I think I lost my plug) but still have not received a call back. it seems now that I'm near the end, they care even less!!! You are nothing more than a payment to them, and I wish I had changed doctors back at 4 months like I was thinking about - but I wanted to be nice and give them a chance. I am so sorry that I did!!! I would NEVER recommend this practice to ANYONE - even my worst enemy!!! read more

Sad that people rate a doctors profession based on how they are"treated". Grow up. If you want warm fuzzy feelings go see your shrink. Doctors get paid v(very little) to take care of your ailment. And yes sometimes their staff are assholes but that dies not mean that the docs themselves are not doing their best. Dr. Tapia was amazing ! With that said I have never been pulled through the mud as much as the office has put me through. I paid for my son to be circumcised but then I decided I wanted a different doctor, the doctor that did my oldest son. I went to get my money back, they said I had to wait till after delivery and after my insurance paid. Ok, fine. 3 months after my son has been Born i called them wondering where my refund was they said " your insurance company hasn't paid them" so I call tricare. Tricare tells me that they submitted it for the wrong date. So I called voulsia back. She says oh yes sorry we submitted a new one wait a couple weeks and call back. So I did. This time I called tricare first they said they sent the check on nov.14 and they should be getting it soon! I said awesome! So I called volusia to make sure we were all in the same page but no they said they haven't received it yet wait a week. So I did. I call tricare first. They said volusia cleared and cashed the check so I call volusia to see where my check is and they can't find my money!!! Christine who I've spoken to countless times can't help me at all she says and transfers me to the office manager WHO NEVER ANSWERS!!! So I've left over a dozen voicemails ! And nothing! I just want to know what's going on and where's my money! That's 350$! I have two kids and my husbands in the army so I'm a stay at home mom. We need that money! Worse office ever!!! Office staff is always rude and even refused to let my husband be present during my ultrasound. Doctors spend as little time as possible with the patients and don't seem to care when there's a problem. I called with an emergency and never received a return call. 2 days later when I was finally able to get in touch with someone at the office and complained about not receiving a return call I was told that I was being released from their services. Don't go to this practice unless you're interested in sub par care and being treated rudely. read more

I had a pap sent over by my primary Dr to be read after she found suspicious cells. They convinced me I had HPV to the point I was cursing my boyfriend at the time and sobbing (I had the rounds of Gardisil vaccine when I was younger). I called my primary Dr to find out why she didn't tell me -only to find out Volusia hadn't even received the pap yet and that I DID NOT have HPV because my primary Dr tested me and she told me the results came out negative. She was just as outraged. I didn't have it at all. I brought it up at one of my follow-up appointments with them and they brushed it off and denied everything, saying they simply said it's "usually what happens" based on the circumstance they've encountered before. I've never been so humiliated. I also wish they were better at calling to confirm appointments. If I have a Monday appointment, it would be nice to get a friendly reminder on Fridays to see if I can keep my appointments or get a sub because I have my own schedule of patients and my location changes weekly. read more

Let me start by saying that I absolutely loved Dr. Desai. He was very professional and made me feel totally comfortable as soon as I stepped into his office. I am sorry that I cannot keep him as a doctor, but I could not handle the unprofessional office staff. They were extremely rude, and totally incompetent. I work in the medical field so I know it's not this difficult.... Three weeks after my appointment I called to find out why I had not heard anything about the IUD that Dr. Desai ordered (he said it would probably take two weeks to come in and that the nurse would call me). I left a message on the nurses line, and received a call back saying that they hadn't even ordered it yet because I needed to fill out a HIPAA form for my insurance company. No one noticed three weeks ago after my appointment that I was missing a form? And they couldn't contact me? Seriously? I went to the office the next day to fill out the form (I had to print my name and sign....), and a week later I still hadn't heard anything. Another message on the nurses line lead to another call back, but this time I had to contact the pharmacy myself because after they order it, apparently they don't get any confirmation until it's delivered. When I called the pharmacy, they said had been trying to contact the doctor's office for a week because there was something wrong with the way the prescription was sent, and I ended up cancelling it anyways because they sent it to a pharmacy that wasn't in network with my insurance (I was not paying $626 for something that my insurance totally covers!!!) I called the very next day (Thursday) to try to get it switched to the correct pharmacy, left another message, received a call back a day later (Friday) saying that the lady I needed to speak with was out of the office until Monday, called and left another message on Monday when I hadn't heard back from anyone by 2:00PM because they stop taking calls at 4:00PM and have yet to hear anything back from them (27 hours later). Today I faxed over a release for my medical records and made an appointment with a different doctors office. Hopefully I'll be able to get my records before my next appointment. I can't even imagine using this group if I was pregnant.... what a mess!! read more

Horrible, I actually agree totally with the first reviewer, but went back to a second appointment to meet the Dr. In fact, you still don't meet a Dr. you see the head nurse. The Dr. apparently looked at my ultrasound and found a cyst and had the NURSE come to talk to me about it! Her answer, "I have never seen this before so I don't know what it means, but the Dr. says it is normal so don't worry". After getting the results back from the CVS, I called to make an appointment with a Dr. I was told I had to wait three weeks! I finally saw a Dr. when I miscarried and on the follow up session when I asked when I could start trying again, the Dr. said "God, will let you know when you are ready". I've been here since August of this year since I found out I was pregnant. I will most likely stop coming here after I have my baby. Unfortunately I'm already to invested here and I rather not switch doctors. The only good experience I've had has been with Dr. Tapia and Dr. Bagwell. The ladies up front always have an attitude. It's unfortunate that most doctor offices are low rated due to the customer service that is received. I will not be coming back for sure. On top of that, the wait time for a scheduled appointment is 30-45mins. Seriously? Dr. Tapia needs to make changes there. And I'm also rushed during my appointments. I don't see these doctors other than once a month and I can't even get a full 10 minutes with them. read more

Again Agreed, horrible office staff. I was actually referred to them by several nurses. After speaking with the 1st office person to help me set up my first new patient appointment, it was very bad. She interrupted me several times while trying to explain to her my first day of my last period, she says "oh you're 6 weeks!", I said i don't think I'm that far along, "yes you are!". Come to find out you're on a "rotation" of nurses not doctors, flipping a coin gets you a better idea of who will be delivering your child. I found another doctor who own his own practice, so it'll be him and I throughout my first pregnancy, and I love that! He also confirmed be to be only 3 and half weeks. Hopefully these doctors listen in on some of the phone conversations with their new/existing clients in hopes of retaining some more patients. After all the office staff was my FIRST impression of the office, so if these doctors are as good as I hear them to be, I'll never know it. read more

I happened upon this site as I was looking for medicines I can take for a cold and decided to read this post about YELP. I was curious because I've complained about the phone service to whom I believed to be the office manager and while it felt great to vent I wasn't really feeling like it went somewhere. I'm not one to complain easily but I will tell you this: I am a current patient and I think Dr. Robertson is great. I think this facility offers very fast service, it's a nice facility, and I have been pleased that the ultrasounds are taken care of on site. HOWEVER... if I could go back to my previous doc whom delivered my last two girls I would probably do so but it would be a very hard decision. And all this because of the service you recieve on the phone and as of last week I also recieved a nasty letter from the buisness manager regarding payments not recieved. Essentially this letter read in a manner that they would gladly transfer your records to another physician... doesn't really seem like they want to keep me as a patient and at the end of the day it makes you feel just like you're another number pushing out another number they can claim to have delivered and no one wants to feel that way especially an emotional mess that most pregnant women are. My first dreadful call was to make my first appointment and I was very leery of wether or not I'd like to stay with Volusia OB after that but the doctor turned out to be great and I felt comfortable. The second phone call was regarding a missed appointment which I had thought was the following day. I had recieved no reminder call or letter. My bad, ok, but the lady on the line brought me to tears over it. I was made to feel like a teenager who doesn't need to be pregnant and is irresponsible. I was in the military for four years AND worked in the medical field which included reception for a time. I have my degree from UF but choose to be home with my kids. I'm 36 next week, and am a married mother of 3, 10 yrs, 3yrs, and 2 yrs. SO I have this process down pat thank-you very much. My previous doctor was a one doc shop, not that I mind seeing more then one doctor here as previously stated been there done that. I don't really care who's between my legs when the baby comes out so long as someone knows what they're doing I'm fine with that. BUT the previous staff is completely different, the friendly service started when you were greeted at the window or spoken to over the phone. They knew who you were or at least acted like it and you were always treated respectfully. If there was a payment to be made you were asked for it at check-out. Not once has that happened at Volusia OB aside from my very first appointment but somehow skip from being asked for a payment to this crazy letter. On another note, while the ultrasound tech here has grown on me, at my first ultrasound visit my husband and 3 kids were in tow to see our baby, after having asked permission from the reception mind you, and it was much to her disliking, very obviously so and she began asking the personal questions about vaginal discharge, etc. while walking through the halls. Seriously? I would have lied if I did have an issue! My husband thinks I should have said as loud as possible that indeed I did and that it burned like hell! HA- while we got a good laugh about that later it was one of those shocking moments that you think to yourself if you need to go somewhere else. Eventually I think she became accustomed to us and I do like her, she's been very nice and patient after that visit. The staff at the front seem nice enough but very unattached. Who is answering the phone, I have no idea, but it seems it's hit or miss. Just be prepared to have a meltdown. The doctors are great, not one bad thing to say but to me the great service should start on the phone and with reception. At Volusia OB it's just feeling like you're no one special, doing nothing special and there are places out there that will treat you better then that. If you don't care about that then this is the place to go. Luckily for me I met the doctor and felt ok about staying put but I don't like having to call, check in or out and honestly I anticipate rude behavior when having to deal with anyone there. If my insurance changes again I can't say I'd be terribly upset about having to find another place and that's too bad for the docs because they deserve better reviews.
