What a fun and unique experience right in our backyard of the burbs. When you walk in you wouldn't even know what to expect and as you walk through the museum it gets better with more history and more fun cars and exhibits to look at. From modern movies to historical sites, there's a little of everything. Heck you can even see Herbie there, or get on to a WWII car. I took my dad who isn't one for museums, and he had nothing but great things to say. He enjoyed looking at all of the war artifacts and even mentioned some that he saw growing up and shared some of his experience. Needless to say, this museum is great for all ages, boys and girls. The Volo Museum exceeded my expectations. There are five (5) showrooms of just vintage, specialty and historic cars and other vehicles. This is truly the place to visit for those that adore the quality and design of old vehicles of every spectrum. The Volo Museum is a treasure trove of fond memories, sparking our minds to recall for example The Good Humor man or a childhood Faris wheel or a family car long part of our distance past. The Titanic exhibit was well done as was the War Museum. Outstanding! Going to the Volo Museum in the off season or January as we did have many definite advantages. Kids are in school and it is practically empty of the mobs of people that could be there at peak times. There was very little interruptions of people getting in the way of taking fabulous pictures and being able to view every exhibit calmly, unobstructed and at your own pace. There is a lot to be said about freedom of movement without a crowd. Yes, you couldn't do much outside because it was closed for the cold season but most of the fantastic exhibits are on the inside. I would suggest arriving at 10am because you'll need most of the whole day to see everything and you'll want to see it all. We saw everything except the Jurassic Park display, but we were told it was pretty much for kids. We had no kids with us, plenty of adult things to do here. We ate in the car along the way as there isn't very many good dining options in the off season at the museum. The Volo Museum is super clean and well maintained. I think this is a nice place to visit one time. We came on a cooler day and it was still too hot and uncomfortable. I cannot get over how terrible it smells in all the museums... like an old musty and dusty basement. I understand the garages with the cars smelling like gasoline, oil, and car wax... but the rest of the place could sure use some air fresheners... or Scentsy warmers... It was nice to visit but definitely wont be back. So sad because I was really having high hopes for this place. Glad to see the Chuck-E-Cheese "The Beagles" and Show Biz Pizza Rockafire Explosion those were worth coming to see but wouldn't pay $24 to come here just for that. read more

Really great museum with a massive antique mall attached. If you love cars and American history, this is definitely a place for you. There are 5 buildings full of cars and, as a bonus, they have exhibits of old snowmobiles, motorcycles, tractors, train cars, and even RVs. I have to preface it and say their navigation is so well thought out unlike many other outdoor museums. You can't get lost here - the arrows are literally painted on the ground, everywhere. As you go through the museum, you can see old canestoga wagons, traveler's cabins, and... even jukeboxes. But the most impressive and memorable part is all the classic cars restored to perfection and their cinematic car collection. Batman, Back to the Future, Mad Max, Miami Vice, Knight Rider, Terminator 3, Fast and Furious, Gone in 60 seconds, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, James Bond, Ford vs Ferrari cars... I don't think I've seen so many movie cars even in LA at the Petersen Automotive Museum! A cherry on top is celebrity car collection like Britney Spears's Mercedes CLK, Princess Diana's Rolls Royce, or Elvis Presley's Cadillac. Pretty impressive! If you're an adult, you probably don't need Jurassic park pass, but get your Titanic add on. Really interesting stories and exhibit. Lastly, there's a big antique mall in the end. Like 3 buildings worth of stuff from the last century. From household items, to clothes, to gaming consoles. I think I spent 2 hours wondering around the mall out of 4.5 hours total at the museum. A really nice and extensive collection of cool cars including but not limited to the Mystery Machine, several Batmobiles, TMNT, Ghostbusters, etc. The torture museum part was a little underwhelming, but the little jail with the "I touched the cars at the Volo Museum" sign was a nice touch. If you are in the area, this is an attraction worth visiting at least once. Large variety to see here. Definitely a lot of cars, but also tons of vintage things to see. A whole display of vintage Disney items, and even an old, Disney Molderama machine that actually works. The real highlight of our visit was all the vintage rides. Our toddler had a blast riding those. Each ride actually lasts a while too, gives your kids a good value for the token. I visited Volo Auto Museum for the first time Saturday and WOW was I impressed. Volo Auto Museum is a pretty massive museum that has a ton of cars that were used in famous movies and TV Shows and a ton of other older throwback memorabilia from various points in American history. It's so awesome that a place like this exists to preserve these items - you will certainly recognize a ton of cars if you like movies. There is also a showroom of nice, expensive cars for sale as well (but not the movie cars). They also have an actual carousel and a dinosaur area for kids with mini golf, and a titanic exhibit. Right outside of the museum is an old antique shop as well which is massive. You can realistically spend about 2-3 hours here to see mostly everything in full. It's definitely worth a visit and is a lot of fun - highly recommended. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They are clearly all about the money and it very much shows. Everything was so cheaply made and the prices were extremely high and unrealistic for what you get. I paid extra for the torture room and it was a tiny little room with barely anything in it and everything was like plastic? Also don't even get me started on the military room!! You couldn't even BREATHE from the fumes from the paint, and I know it wasn't just me and my boyfriend being dramatic because the lady leaving behind us said she experienced the same issue! I feel like this place was made for very little kids, nothing for adults. They advertised that they had the "original Batman mobile" and it was definitely a replica, actually all of their cars are. All they are looking for is a quick buck and it shows. *EDIT* If you don't believe me that these people are just out for money, look at their responses and how rude they are to the one star reviews that they received. I've lived in the Chicago area for 40 years and never had the inclination to attend the Volo Car Museum. I'm just not a car person! However, today was a beautiful day out and I wanted to go for one specific purpose: to see the car that Johnny Depp drove in the film "The Fugitive". The museum and all of its offerings blew me away. It is not just buildings filled with fancy cars. There are high quality museum exhibits depicting everything from films to exhibits honoring the military from WWI through the U.S.'s current involvement in Eastern Europe. The museum's grounds are very clean. Parking is free. Admission fees are reasonable. This is a place for all ages. read more

Heard a lot about this museum, so we had to come here. It sounded better than it was is a nice way of putting it. The Volo Museum is what this town is known for, better or worse. Best part is maybe not having to take a long time to look around. This certainly isn't worth the money though. Crap ton of old cars are the main exhibits. It has tons of these from ordinary to those in movies. There's some of these even worth looking at and paying the high admission price. Most of these look like old junk. There's lots of overpriced classic old ones. Who appraises these? A lot of them are actually just replicas. They pass these off as classics though. Had a "1957 Bel Air." The fine print said it was recently built from scratch. Has famous customers who have no problem shelling out for overpriced cars. There's a few highlights along the many vehicles. A few pretty familiar ones to people who watch movies. Yes they have the Griswolds' station wagon from National Lampoon's Vacation. Beyond that, it's pretty boring. Too high of a price. It's about $25 for adults. Then add more to see the Jurassic Gardens, and even more to see the Titanic exhibit. Basic exhibit with a few artifacts. This is like a single room, and it's just way to get money. Got to visit it at least once and see what they have. It's basically like a used car garage and lot. It's a showroom. It's a museum. It's both! Yes, many if not most of the vehicles on display here have prices on them. Whether you're looking for a 1957 Chevy Bel Air or a 1968 Pontiac Parisienne, they have clearly displayed prices. That's pretty awesome. And there are quite a lot of other vehicles that aren't for sale. The hearse that was used in the Terminator movie. One of the Back to the Future Deloreans. The racecar from Ford vs Ferrari. The Flintstonemobile (that you can actually sit in and get a picture!). A General Lee signed by the Dukes of Hazard cast. A Batmobile signed by Adam West. Yes, this is legit stuff. It's almost overwhelming. I will tell you, you need to get here early. Expect to spend at least three hours peacefully walking through the galleries. I took my 8 yr old nephew here since he is a car freak! Oh it was so cool I even got into it! They had tons of movie cars (my personal favorites) my nephew loved all the interactive displays and that day they even had a reptile show free for all quests of the museum. The DH had been asking about/whining/begging to go to the Volo since he first learned about it. I finally had the chance to make his desire a reality. We're about an hour and a half away, so this was a nice little day trip. It's hard to believe how big this place is until you start walking around. 5 warehouses of classic cars and movie cars, a Titanic exhibit hall, Crime and Punishment museum, antique trains, RVs, snowmobiles, and bikes each have their own smaller warehouses. And while we didn't visit it ourselves, there's also a dinosaur park called Jurassic Gardens. In addition to the paid exhibits, there is also a huge antiques mall which covers an additional 4 buildings. We spent a solid 4 hours wandering around and reading descriptions and watching video clips. DH is already talking about going back with his brother and nephew. The breadthe of things here is breathy! Lots of stuff! Too much, so much so I found an old airplane machine pop a quarter I rode as a kid at Chucky Cheese/Showbiz Pizza that still worked and the kids were jumping in it flying around! F ING AMAZING! Carousel, cool pipe organs, train cars, there's just SO MUCH to discover here it's neverending like a story. Go here and have fun, and they have a lil bake shop that's okay but presentation is off the chain! Cool cars of course it's their real thing as famous Youtubers about cars the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Speed Racer custom cars were the coolest, but I'd like to buy the Munsters carriage and Dragula to ride around in in style. read more

We love cars so we loved the Volo Museum. Huge variety of fun rides from those in movies to classic muscle cars for sale. That being said, we will never return because of the neighbouring Village of Lakemoor's lucrative red light cameras. Beware if you drive to Volo. We never saw a sign, but the cameras are at Rte 120 & US 12 monitoring NB, WB, & EB--all on the way to and from the museum. This ruined our one and only trip to Volo. Word to the wise. read more

Interesting place. Wonderful for kids, as long as you can keep them from touching all the amazing items there are to look at. We visited the the "museum" only, not Jurassic park, so I can not speak to it or the "package" of doing both. Volo Museum 1 Day Pass Adult - $22.95 Children 5 to 12 - $12.95 Seniors 65 and older - $20.95 Military - $20.95 4 & Under - Free For me, I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of "stuff" in just the museum. I had anticipated only cars, which we did see both "sales" (see other review) and display items, but there are all sorts of other things to look at and read about. Sadly the path is not chronically by any stretch of the imagination. Meaning you go through cars, antique jukeboxes, boat motors, steam engines, covered wagons in no particular order. We went to car museum and it was the best ever where I'd love to go back again soon. The view of all the beautiful dated cars are an amazing site to see. The cars from the 60's and 70's took me back to my era. Last year we visited the antique stores there and it was a site to see . If anyone is interested, it's the best place to visit. I was going through my comments that I made regarding Volo classic car sales. I just happen to watch the video again. I know there was an argument between me and the sales manager regarding, the front driver side tire. When I received the car, there was a huge side wall failure, a visible bulge. The sales manager told me, " Those tires were fine, we replaced the front driver side tire. It must have been from the transport company tiedowns." Like I said above, I just watched the promo video made by Volo on this car I bought. In the video, you can see visibly, the bulge on the front tire side wall..!! I guess I'm still angry about everything, and when you revisit the thing that you are angry about, and find that you were right about everything you were angry about. I've seen the car collections in Deer Lodge, MT, Tacoma, WA, and Murdo, SD, but hands down the Volo Car Museum is definitely the best of the ones I have seen. First things first- It's a big Auto showroom. Everything has a price on it. There are sales offices galore. Some of the "specimens" are of questionable provenance. It's a bunch of small buildings very crowded with cars. If you're not into cars, there ain't much for you to look at. There's a big snack shop/souvenir stand you go through on the way in, and on the way out. Of course. As far as the assortment, it's a bit puzzling. There are a bunch of really cool cars/vehicles that's for sure; and there are a bunch of "why is THIS thing in a museum?" I'd recommend to go on an "off" day, 'cos I'd hate to see this place when it is crowded. Is it worth it? Sure, if you're into cars. You'll see some things you ain't seen in a long time. You'll also have to endure some stuff you probably won't give the slightest interest to. I'm glad I went, but I'll not be in a hurry to return. read more

We went today to see the Ghostbuster's exhibit and what a crazy let down. The actors sat in their chairs and didn't move and they walked around and did nothing. They don't even pull the car out! The museum was pretty massive. There are different kinds of tickets. We did the combo with the Volo museum and Jurassic gardens for $35. The Volo museum by itself has a lot to see so you can easily spend a few hours with that. You will see many classic cars as well as cars from movies. Jurassic gardens is a lot smaller and kids will enjoy that. We spent like 15-20 mins in there. It's worth checking out. read more

My love and I had the opportunity to visit the Volo Auto Museum as we were camping at a nearby site last September. The town of Volo is quite a distance from the big city, but the campground was conveniently located a quick drive to this sprawling campus of cars. You can easily spend a couple of hours checking out all of the cool vintage cars, specialty vehicles (campers, snowmobiles, boats, etc.), and displays of celebrity items and old-time memorabilia (pinball machines!). The admission is $20 a head ($13 for kids) but it's a fun visit for young and medium and old. The vehicles will bring back old memories and create new ones for you. I must have taken over a hundred photos during our visit. Not sure if I have a fave, but I did enjoy seeing a bunch of classic Corvettes, a few versions of the Batmobile, and wheels from movies like Back to the Future, Blues Brothers and Ghostbusters. If you really have a favorite and have the cash to burn, then some of the cars are available for purchase. read more

This place is an overpriced tourist trap. We used half off museum passes from our library and still paid 60.00! That didn't even include the Jurassic park. We saw the cars and the Titanic museum. To watch some of the movies or do "extra" things they charge you tokens. There are some interesting and cool cars to see but the cost is outrageous! read more
