I'm Japanese and I've been craving for sushi so I tried this restaurant. I ordered assorted sushi plate, gyoza and salmon sashimi. Salmon was the best! I loved it so much! And they also have really good yellowtail and white tuna. For gyoza, it was not real Japanese gyoza. The gyoza sauce was Chinese sauce which wasn't good. I don't know other dish is good or not, but I really recommend sushi especially salmon, yellowtail and white tuna. I wanna try all sushi in this restraint someday. read more

This place has amazing food. Unfortunately their take out service is awful. If you eat in the restaurant they will make the food how you want it. For example they will take onions out of the fried rice as some people do not like them. But when you try and order the exact same meal I always do over the phone they will not do it. It seems like everyone is reviewing this place from their sushi experience, so I want to first off say that we didn't order sushi, my review is of the sesame chicken and beef with broccoli with fried rice my husband and I ordered. The overall feel of the place is nice, clean and quaint. It was small but decent seating, we sat at the sushi bar so we didn't have to wait. The waitress was hard to understand but we got our order in without any real problem. My chicken was alright but my husband's beef dish was totally cold when she set it down. The fried rice was interesting, definitely didn't taste like any fried rice I've ever had before. We have been here many times. For Odessa the sushi is good. The presentation is always great they even draw a fun character on my sons sushi plate every time we go. I really enjoy the dynamite roll it's spicy and they light it on fire. I also like the pad Thai. The food is pretty pricy but it has always taste good. The only thing I'm going to complain about is that they don't actually have a wine list and if you order a glass of wine it's always $10 and you don't know if you're getting Sutter homes or Kendall Jackson for 10 bucks. read more

Overpriced and I am not impressed. I guess this is okay for Odessa sushi standards. The General Tsos chicken was good. The sushi outside of the tuna seemed and smelled old. I asked the server for nigiri sushi and she said, "no, you pick either sushi or sashimi.". Come on guys- at least train your staff on what they are serving. I'm not going back. Also, no lunch specials on the weekend. This place would close if it was competing in Houston. Update: Dear Shen, There are different types of sushi. Nigiri is a sub type of sushi. When a customer asks if it is nigiri then the server should be able to answer. Your waitresses are hard to understand. I'm giving you 2 stars because you throw away the light, which I find interesting because the waitress refused to let a customer keep it during my visit. I don't need to submit 2 reviews. I'm not a big fan of room temp sushi, but it is not considered unsafe if it is fresh. Some of the fish did smell old. If you are there all day then you shouldn't need a customer to tell you what is wrong- you should know. One tip on customer service- never engage a negative review on social media with your own comments. This only reiterates that your staff share similar attitudes. You have no competition in Odessa. Only had it once, first time tonight and it was carry out. They were extremely busy, had to wait 30 minutes for our food. But the whole time, they were apologizing for the long wait. They offered free drinks and even gave us a small California roll for free. I ordered the ramen with shrimp, the container was huge and I loved the flavor. Reviewing for Sushi/Sashimi only. Of course Midessa cannot have a good sushi/sashimi place. The fish was not at all sushi quality. This was exaggerated by the fact that they cut the fish very thick. Allowing the dry/freezer burned parts of the fish to grind on your tongue instead of melt in your mouth as it should. The caviar had a bizarre crunch instead of a burst as it should. When I ordered sushi the thick cuts of fish would not stay paired with the tiny ball of rice that accompanied it. Wasabi was not real (ground from Wasabi root), just horseradish wasabi paste. The caviar and salmon row was daftly wrapped in seaweed around rice and also was falling apart. True sushi lovers won't get their fix here. But if you are the type that likes your fish disguised wrapped up with other items and colorful sauces, maybe you won't notice. If you are a classical purist you will not be happy. read more

Sushi was alright, nothing too fancy- though I imagine that the specialty rolls have a little more spunk than a normal roll (I could get the quality basic rolls at HEB... yum, firecracker roll with hot cheetos sprinkled on top... drooool). Then I had the Rainbow Roll. There was something missing with this... 1st the roll was not tight and was falling apart. The crab chunk was HUGE and I do not like that. We were just passing by Odessa on our way to Big Bend and happened to google this place. The reviews were a bit mixed so we weren't too sure but decided to give it a shot. We ordered online for pick up and it was a bit tricky because no descriptions or ingredients were given for the dishes available but we went with our gut and ordered California rolls...crab rangoons...shrimp hibachi...and seafood delight special. A few people in the reviews mentioned that the hostess wasn't very personable and they were correct...she wasn't warm or welcoming but that didn't bother me too much since we were picking up the order and my review is for the food. There was a young man who was very polite and wished me well as I walked out. Once we got the food to our hotel and unpacked it...it looked beautiful. It was freshly made and the ingredients were fresh. The only surprise we got was what all came with the seafood special which was a small salad...a soup (which was egg drop)...and the actual entree. That was nice but it would've been nice to have that described online before we ordered extra stuff and I also didn't have a choice of type of soup I wanted because there were no options for any of those things. Over all...the food was wonderful so I gave the 5 star rating but the greeting and online ordering could have been better. read more
