I had just arrived in Plauen and was walking around to get a feel for the city. It was too late for lunch but too early for dinner so when I saw this Biergarten, I stopped in to try the local beer. It was very straightforward: You order at the window and they hand you beer or food. There's a deposit for the glass. I used cash to pay. It was not expensive at all. There was plenty of seating, outdoors, of course. And also of course, they allow smoking so you have to be strategic about where you sit to avoid the disruptive and health-ruining smoke. The beer was good and it would have been very cozy to meet up here with a group of friends. I only got a few stares because it's clear that I'm from out of town even though I speak the language. read more
