There are four Greek restaurants in the tiny little town of Ilvesheim, but this one is by far the…read morebest. While we were living there, we quickly became regulars and Zur Krone wound up being one of our favorite restaurants in all of Germany... The owners and staff are (like most German staff) to the point.. but here, also friendly. They shake your hand when you sit down to welcome you, and there is always a complimentary digestif shot at the end of the meal (or suckers for the kids and pregnant women...) The atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and intimate. It is not uncommon for whoever is leaving to say goodbye to everyone in the restaurant on their way out. The patio area can be screened in or open, depending on the weather. Food wise... The 'Krete Teller' was my default.. a big plate of various meats seasoned to perfection, and a side of Greek noodles (closer to rice) or french fries. The tzatziki is the real deal here (plan to breath garlic fire for at least a day) and you can't really go wrong with any of the appetizers. The kids meals are generous portions... We didn't discover the notion of calling in for take-out pizza until the last few months that we lived there, thank goodness or we would have gained a million pounds. Their pizza is to die for. We loved this place so much, our son had a special 'tricot' (jersey) made with their name on it... I have literally had dreams about their food... If you are within like, hours, of Zur Krone.. it's worth going out of your way for!
