I've been going to Jimmy for somewhere between 5-7 years now, it has been so long that I can't even remember exactly when it started. When I first met him, I was extremely particular and nervous about my hair because I had already gone through so many bad haircut experiences in the Bay. Jimmy never made me feel difficult or rushed. He took the time to explain exactly what he would do, walk me through the shape and length, and answer every question I had. I'm the kind of person who cared about details down to the millimeter. Jimmy always had the patience to work through everything with me despite all the many questions I had each visit. Over the years, Jimmy became much more than just my hairstylist. Every time I sat in his chair, he listened to all my life stories, heard me out, and made me feel genuinely cared for. He took care of my hair, my concerns, and often accommodated me whenever he could. Getting a haircut became something I actually looked forward to every month or so because I always looked forward to seeing him. He has supported me through many different chapters of life and hairstyles. When I decided to grow my hair into a man bun, he shaped and prepared it perfectly for that process, so I haven't been seeing Jimmy for a while. I wanted to leave this review because I'm incredibly grateful for all the years of patience, support, and exceptional work he has given me. What stands out most about Jimmy is that he treats hairstyling as a true profession. He is always learning new techniques, improving his craft, and staying current, while still delivering thoughtful, responsive, and personal service. He understands how to create a cut that complements your face, fits who you are, and gives you confidence for whatever chapter of life you are entering. That is who Jimmy is. Jimmy is so good with hair and so nice to talk to (which is low key really important for a good vibe considering some hair appointments require hours in the chair). He also teaches me how to manage the haircut I got (eg color) and my favorite thing about his haircuts is that he does them so that they grow out nicely. I will forever recall the dark pandemic days when my bangs had grown out terribly and a hair stylist commented on the fact that it wasn't a flattering cut and Jimmy on the other hand has always been so kind - rescuing me from orange tones my previous stylist had done and horrible money pieces. This review is for Lady Dianne! She is the BEST hairdresser I've had so far :) I came in with waist length dark brown Asian hair that has some premature grey strands. She was very patient and knowledgeable of what kind of partial highlight suits me the best. I decided to get dark brown touch up for my scalp and do partial purple+magenta highlight for the end. Dianne is super easy to talk to, extremely thoughtful( water/Netflix/ frequent check in/ stun conversation,etc), and very through. After moving to the Bay Area, I was on the search for a hair stylist and I'm pretty particular in what I'm looking for. I had found a couple of hair stylists that I was interested in trying and Ly was one of them. I was seeing a different stylist for a bit, but thought it's time for some change and to give someone new a chance. Plus, Ly's beautiful work started to appear in my Instagram feed so it was a sign that I should go check her out. Booking the appointment was super easy through Style Seat. Initially when I had booked my appointment, I had wanted to go lighter with my balayage. But since I had 2 months until my appointment, I realized that I wanted to go darker instead. I had saved a ton of photos for Ly to reference. When I had arrived to the salon and finally met Ly, she was super friendly and sweet. She did a thorough consultation on what she'll be doing to my hair to achieve the look that I wanted, which was babylights and root smudge. Honestly I had total faith in her so whatever she suggested I was all for it. As the process began she communicated very well with me as to what her next steps were while working on my hair. I really appreciated that and it was really helpful for me to know what's going on. While sitting in the chair for quite some time, Ly was very accommodating to make sure that myself, other clients and even her staff were comfortable and of course fed since these sessions can be long. As my session was coming close to being done, Nicole, Ly's assistant did a beautiful job toning and styling my hair. She was very sweet and friendly as well. Both Ly and Nicole were so easy going and had great conversations with them. When I got to see the finish product both straight and styled, I was in love. Goodbye brassy hair! I got compliments from the other clients that were getting their hair done as well. There's something about getting your hair freshened up whether it's a cut or color and you feel like a million bucks. Ly did a wonderful job in achieving this for me. She gave me some helpful tips in maintaining my color and provided some great product suggestions, which I'm a total product junkie and always looking to try out new stuff. I left purchasing the Unite Lazer Straight Shampoo and love it! I would definitely come back to Ly for another session and recommend others to do so as well. It's pricey, but it was all worth it especially for the quality of work that you're getting done. Also, the salon is very bright and clean. I love it!
