The San Rafael outpost of Groundfloor is a clean, well-lighted place and then some. I come often…read more Pablo, my dog, sometimes joins. The coffee machine can do many things. Lattes. Cappuccinos. The rest. Black is enough for me. Strong. Simple. It's quiet, but not empty. The hum of others working, softly talking, is a companion--not a distraction. There's a calendar of events: walks, talks, writing nights, yoga, new-member hours, dinners, creative meetups. You can move from work into laughter without leaving the space. The app echoes the calendar. It nudges you into things without pushing. It reminds you there is always a next thing to connect around. Here, you work alone--but not lonely. You sit in quiet--and step into company. You drink coffee--and sometimes wine. You write--and sometimes join a book club, a run, or a gathering of new faces. This is how work was meant to be: rooted, open, full of potential.

I don't think I realized how much I needed Groundfloor until I was here…read more I missed the water-cooler chats, brainstorming, shared lunches & background hum of coworkers in an office when my job went fully remote. I finally realized that those things make a big difference in my energy, engagement and fulfilment in work & everyday life. This is no ordinary co-working space. People are friendly & welcoming: open for a casual chat during Community Lunch, willing to help you think through business or personal challenges, and a blast to hang out with at events both in and outside the club. It's great for work: noise levels are rarely distracting, there are phone booths and a conference room for private calls, a library quiet space, and a gorgeous outdoor patio to shake up the scenery. The socializing is great: book club, hiking club, AI learning sessions. Need a friend to go to a baseball game or music festival with? How about a potluck backyard party with twinkly lights and laughter? Done. When Jermaine, one of the founders, told me that their mission was "to end loneliness" (rather than something like creating just a place for work) it finally clicked for me why this place feels like home. See you at the Club!

My wife and Dianne at the club help organize a surprise birthday party for me during the Super Bowl…read moreSunday game at the club Pot Luck. I was not just surprised. I was Gob-smacked. Great fun and surrounded by old friends And the game of games. So much fun Cake and the party boy. Yaaaay. The coolest private club which supports conservation on the San Francisco Bay. Brilliant views, awesome members, fun, chill zone. Expensive to join ... NO. Glamorous and opulent? NO. Its well designed, clean, spacious, great members, and a fun place to hang. And NO ... there is no shooting range here as it is in the city limits of San Rafael. But with a pier that goes a few hundred yards into the bay, it's hard to beat for fishing or just a picnic over the bay. The website says about its history: Founded in 1926, the Marin Rod and Gun Club is one of California's premier outdoor sporting clubs. The club was formed for the purposes of conservation, preservation and propagation of fish and game in Marin County, the State of California and the United States. We have grown from our original membership of 35 to over 1200 active members. We are still tops for conservation. From their website it states: Membership is extremely affordable and gives exclusive, year round access to the clubhouse, bar, fishing pier, BBQ patio and boat ramp. You will also be able to attend member only events throughout the year. Visit the Club any day of the week between 12:00PM and 6:00PM to take a tour, meet a few members and pick up an application. You can also CLICK HERE to download the membership application form and return via email to office@marinrodandgunclub.com. You can also drop off in person. Your membership requires the sponsorship of two actve members. If you do not know any members just come by the club from 12:00PM to 4:00PM to introduce yourself and meet our membership. We are a volunteer powered organization and members are expected to contribute their available time and valuable talent. Many hands make light work. Once your application is submitted you will be contacted by our membership chair for a candidate interview and then upon approval of the board attend your initiation ceremony at the next scheduled general membership meeting. It's misleading, as this place isn't a gun range at all. One can become a member, and the dues are feasible. Really cheap strong drinks with the best waterfront views. Great place to gather & chill with friends, family, and colleagues! Good times in an unpretentious atmosphere. Highly recommend planning your next party here i.e., birthdays, weddings, fundraisers, retirements, etc. Spacious kitchen, huge parking lot, outdoor areas, nice stage, and cozy bar. Note the average age range for people attending these events is 40 and above…read more... My OOT friend and I happened to be in one of the hotels where they where hosting an event. We walked passed and heard DJ music and decided to check it out. I inquired with the folks monitoring the check-in desk and asked if we could peek in the door for 5 seconds to check out the crowd. It was around 11:30pm and the music was retro (80's style). The woman "screamed" NO! I thought "geez lady" relax.... Entry fee was $20. So we paid and checked it out. It was very clear why now she did not want us to preview the event---as there were only 2 dozen folks (including the DJ and bartender). The majority of the crowd was female. We stayed for 1 drink and no more people showed or left. We deserted the event about midnight. Overall, RUDE staff, not well attended and a waste of time and money. Definitely PASS on these events by this promoter. YELP the fact that you allow this review to be filtered shows that you are no more than a paid site!

We had never been to a singles party, so we thought it would be cool to check it out. The party was going to take place at the Golden Gate Yacht Club in the Marina. So far, so good, right? Um, yeah... So, it's the day of the event, and we finally make it to the parking lot. FIRST THOUGHT - OH.MY.GAWWWD. ARE.YOU.FKNG.KIDDING.ME? NO, FER REEEEEALZ? FER REEEEEALS? ARE WE ON CANDID CAMERA??? THIS IS A JOKE, RIGHT? IT'S NOT?!!!! We're sitting in the car in the parking lot, and I swear to you, everyone walking around, parking, leaving...had to have gone to high school with our grandparents!!! I believe the flyer we saw had read 30's and up crowd. WOW, THIS CROWD WAS DEFINITELY MATURE. Worse yet, these old guys were in button downed polyester shirts with chest hair flowing out!!! Yes, these guys just time-warped back into the 70's!!! *THE.FKNG.HORROR.OF.IT!* *MY.EYES.MY.EYES.ARE.FKNG.BURNING!* Needless to say, we sat in the parking lot for no more than two minutes and high-tailed it outta there!!!! We have since never attempted attendance to any singles party. ONE STAR = SUPER FAIL!!! THE NIGHT'S LESSON - I best stay a cradle robber, than a grave digger! MEEP-MEEEEEP! ========================= UPDATE: Aww, it looks like some of you are offended. When I say old, I definitely don't mean you folks in your 30's and 40's!!! I'm generation X, too! Duh!!
