Nice park across from home. I always see people with their dogs, or running or cycling. They tend to have fun events here throughout the year & the town stays on top of maintenance so it always looks clean On colder days, its much more chilly/breezy when you're by the big water feature in the middle. The only thing it lacks, is a fun playground area for kids. read more

This is my favorite park in the DFW area. It is never too crowded and there is generally parking available. Sure there are prettier parks with more to do but I mainly use the park for jogging and it's the perfect distance. You can easily run 3-5 miles depending on what you do. I trained for 2 half marathons here, repeating the trail a few times to clock in those miles. The jogging trail has a very scenic start, with a pond, a cute bridge and some ducks. When you get into Brook Haven college, it can get eerily quiet at certain times of the night and it's also a bit dark. I don't run around past dusk but if you come before the sun sets, you'll run into other runners and walkers. What I love most about the park is the change in seasons here. I love in the winter, the stillness of the park. Everything is sleeping, from the trees to the animals. Then in the spring, wildflowers bloom along the trail and pretty crepe myrtles litter the paths. You also run into many bunnies and even see baby ducklings! In the summer, I see fireflies! It is such a treat to see fireflies nowadays in the city that my heart swells when they flicker around me. In the fall and early winter is when the leaves change color and you see the trees glow. And in December, the famous Vitruvian Lights make this park a winter wonderland. No matter how many times I visit the park at this time, with family and friends, the lights never get old. Love this park! I only come here during the Christmas season for their pretty lights :) Free admission and parking! Addison is about an hour away from me, so I don't think the lights are worth the drive unless there's more going on. I always go online and search up the special event days where they're doing concerts, Santa photos, and food trucks. It's much nicer to listen to good music, see families/couples dancing, and try new street foods instead of walking around a quiet park taking photos and then going home. If that's your better cup of tea, gopher it. I like to make the most of my long trips with a lively, upbeat environment. But if I lived closer, long serene walks at Vitruvian Park with my lover would be romantic af. Make sure to plan ahead accordingly! Some nights are FREEZING, so you won't be able to take photos unless you desperately want one and are willing to make sacrifices haha. The line for Santa photos are normally too long, so don't have your hopes up high for that one. I've always skipped out on it because I can just take one at a brightly lit mall where there aren't any gusts of wind blowing in my face as I wait. For the food trucks, I recommend going to the sandwich ones. They've always tasted bomb! It can be pretty pricey, so expect about $10 a person plus drinks. If you want, you can bring a canteen of homemade hot chocolate or coffee with you so that you can save on drinks. The hot chocolate I bought this evening had the weirdest aftertaste. All in all, really nice place to view colorful, stationary lights on trees. I do think it's nice to go at least once, and bundle up in layers! :) read more

My friends and I have made it a tradition to come here every year for Christmas. It's absolutely beautiful with all of the different colored lights reflecting off the water. There are always a ton of people and families walking around the park even after Christmas since they leave the lights up a few days after. The only issue I had with this park is that the trash cans were overflowing onto the ground, which took away from the overall experience. read more

How could Ive never taken my dog here?!?! It is an awesome park; it has a lake and a lot of people bring their dogs here to walk and exercise. By walking around here, you probably gonna see ducks, geese, and turtles. I just love it read more

Visually, I would give the park a 4 or 5 stars BUT they get 1 star because: (1) people are not picking up their dog's poop - there is quite a bit along the edges of the walk and w/in a leash's length...but then you don't want to try to walk or sit in the grassy areas... (2) the two drinking fountains (on either side of the central pedestrian bridge) are not being maintained....the one on the east side doesn't work at all, and the doggie drinking bowl on the one on the west side doesn't drain and is filled with yucky standing water (great if you are a mosquito but not so great for us)... (3) the hose bib near the south end of the park (near a concrete wall) is FULL of wasps...tried to turn it on to water the dogs but....instead of water...wasps...my friend had to run as fast as she could to not get bit..... If those things are fixed, their rating would be higher. read more

We live across the street from the vitruvian park and for us it's the best gateway in the city. The park is very peaceful and quiet. Even though not as clean. People don't always pick up after their dogs and plastic bottles are in the water (shame) Other than that a great place to walk and relax. read more

Before dinner, thought of checking out the lights in this park. Wow....so beautiful. Definitely a must see during the holidays. Never got a chance to visit this park during this summer, definitely on my 'To Visit' list for next year. read more

Great park! They have lots of events in the summer time. The best one by far was the Salsa nights. Great live music and the food trucks that come out have a little bit of everything. But for the most park I workout in the park. They have a small hill that's great for running and 2 sets of steps I use as well. And there aid a great trail to run and a lot of dog poop so be careful out there! read more

This park is Romantic, with a capital R. The boyfriend and I like to take cute strolls around this park, hand in hand. It's super clean, well lit, the people are friendly but not creepsters, and not once have I stepped in doggie poo. To me, those are the definitive signs of a great neighborhood park. The only thing keeping this from being a five-star park is the lack of a playground-- this is a cute park, but it's definitely meant for the adult people living in the Vitruvian apartments (who are mostly young professionals and single people, as far as I can tell). Bummer, because I could definitely go for some swings! It's especially adorable during December, when every tree is covered in lights. My guy and I risked our lives during Icepocolypse to see them, and I almost slipped and broke my tailbone. If you like awkward moments, those are sure to be had here, too. Just be sure to be holding hands with your brand new boyfriend, stop to pet a cute dog, and then be ready to field tons of questions about your "husband" while he coughs and blushes. Fun times! But seriously, everything is lit up in December, there's a cute nature preserve-y section of the park with tall grasses, and the trees are gorgeous. Awesome Park! There are two parking lots with enough parking for everybody. The trails connect with Brookhaven Community College and continue passed Spring valley road all the way up to Beltway/Addison Athletic club for those who like to run or take a bike ride. Great place for a nice first date... close bar, nice scenery. Make sure you stop by the dog daycare, can't remember the name of it, but the dogs on display are so beautiful and playful.
