Fantastic "Fish Handle" or vishandel from Volendam in the heart of the Ten Katemarket street. It's a really a clean, organized fish wagon with every thing from fried kibbling, sushi (mostly tuna) and scallops the size of an orange! My favorite there is the white fish prepared with shrimp inside. It's €3 and I take it home and stick it in the oven for 20 minutes. Super lekker! I also sin like the devil when I order the deep fried, breaded oysters. OMG! They are sooooo good. The kibbling (fried cod) is the most Dutch thing you can get, and so delicious, but can't go wrong with the mussels. It's a real treat because they are difficult to find at these stands. They aren't too breaded or greasy. It's a busy place (especially at lunch time and Saturdays) and they mean business! It took them a month or two to warm up to me - just the way the fish mongers are from Volendam. I eventually broke them in and they laugh at my jokes. :) read more

Terrible experience. Two ignorant and prejudiced old men that started mocking me because I'm not native and don't speak the language as well as I wanted. If you're an expat or tourist, avoid at all costs. I've had better fish elsewhere and didn't have to be humiliated to eat what I want. read more
