If you take the fish home to heat up in the oven it might be ok, but I advise against eating warm fish that's been heated up in the shop.

It's a quick ride on the train to get here and we happened to be having lunch around the corner (Restaurant De Kas) but got there a bit early. We had specifically come during spring to ensure we could eat as much new catch herring as possible... so even though we had lunch in just a few minutes we felt that a few herring wouldn't spoil our appetite ;D We ordered three herring (€2.25/each = $2.50), which were sliced, split amongst two plates and garnished with chopped onion and pickles, the standard accompaniment. We went outside to a bench in front of the store to consume them as there isn't really any seating inside. Plus, the place isn't really a restaurant as they mostly sell fresh fish for cooking at home. These were absolutely delicious; the little fish were by far the best we'd ever had (and actually the best - and cheapest - we would end up having over the weekend). We had eaten new catch herring back in New York previously at Grand Central Oyster Bar and Russ & Daughters, but nothing can compare with eating it in Holland. The man who gives the tour may come off creepy and offensive, but as long as you take this tour as educational entertainment, you'll find him as hilarious as I did. He knows a bit of every language, I guess it's what you do when you know you will be giving tours to tourists of your farm all day. This was the last stop to my Amsterdam tour, and what a great end to it. At the end of the tour was cheese samples when you enter the shop. I bought a mature pepper cheese and the smoked cheese. They're delicious and I really can't wait to crack them open (the wait is because I'll most likely eating it all in one sitting). And ladies, he might... no, he'll probably... no... he'll most definitely make a pass at you. Just laugh it off, it'll make your experience more enjoyable, and I think that's really how he makes his job more fun. If he calls you little woman, just call him little man. That's what I did.

We had a hilarious guide at Rembrandt Hoeve Clogs and Cheese. This guy cracked jokes in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. He was kind of flirty, occasionally boastful, occasionally self-deprecating, and did not fail to charm.
