I have been a regular customer of Josh Leonard at Washington Park Barber Shop for quite some time,…read moretypically getting my haircut every two weeks. Based on that experience, I can confidently say that the level of service I receive has been consistently excellent. Josh is always professional, personable, and attentive to what his clients want. He takes the time to listen, pays attention to the details, and consistently provides a quality haircut. Just as importantly, he is dependable and punctual, while also doing his best to be flexible and accommodating when his customers' schedules require it. Those qualities are very much appreciated and are a big reason I continue to return. My experience with Washington Park Barber Shop as a whole has also been extremely positive. The shop has a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere and provides the kind of friendly, professional experience you hope to find in a neighborhood barber shop. I really don't have any negative feedback to offer. Josh has earned my trust as a customer through consistent, professional service, and Washington Park Barber Shop is a business I am very comfortable recommending to others.

I go in for a clean up, which turned into half of my beard being gone, while leaving a long goatee. I thought I'd let it grow out a bit, and it wasn't a super big deal. But when I get home and lived with the beard a little longer, I saw a full clippers width of hair missing on the underside of my neck and how uneven and thin everything looked. I ended up shaving it as it really didn't not look great. And that was months of growth I had worked on.

I was told by Anthony it would be "just a couple of minutes," but he ended up spending well over half an hour with that walk-in--while I waited without any further explanation or apology. I understand things can come up, but when you schedule time with a client, there should be a level of professionalism and respect for their time. That wasn't the case here.

It was one hour before they close on a weekday so I knew I was kinda cutting it close but the owner was there and was able to take care of me right away so it all worked out. It's got a very old-fashioned barber shop vibe and decor which is pretty cool, along with a bunch of sports related stuff decorating the walls. Normally I like to get a beard trim too but time was a little tight so I just got a regular straightforward haircut for my first visit. He did a great job but he was also really fast, like genuinely the fastest haircut I've ever had in my life. I'd chalk this up to his experience, as he seemed to give a good quality cut in about a quarter of the time I've seen others take. If you need a reasonably priced good quality cut and appreciate efficiency I'd recommend trying them out. The only reason I'm not going with 5 stars is because I've only been there once, but if future visits are like this I'd probably bump it to 5.

They earned my respect when I walked in for the first time, unsure of their policy, and informed me someone was ahead of me but they hadn't showed up for their appointment and offered me the chance to wait and take their place. I did. When the customer showed up (LATE) they refused to service them immediately. It was mostly polite but I pride myself on being punctual and respecting others, no matter how "little" it seems. That small gesture won me over big time.

When I called to see if they took walk-ins, they got me squared away. The barber even told me that there was a spot right across the street in front of the restaurant. When I walked in the door, the barber did a double take. I asked if it was because he didn't expect this head, or that I was literally around the corner when I called. He laughed me off and told me to grab a seat. The haircut is top-notch, in my conversation I found out that they've been cutting hair at this location since 1990.
