They had all these sausages hanging by the window. Went in bought a pound. Threw it in my suitcase (which left grease marks on my clothes btw) and went home. These were the best damn sausages we ever had! My father "King of Bulk" admonished me for not buying more in bulk (dare I do that since I didn't even know if it was good?). This time I made the Sweet Sausage with some Fall veggies I picked up at Union Square: purple cauliflower (mostly because I love the color) and pan-fried then roasted fingerling potatoes. It's good to know that the meat doesn't have hormones or steroids, and is antibiotic free. Must be another reason they taste so good. Plus, did you know free range chickens are higher in Omega 3's and have a high protein content? Go on a Saturday and you'll get the friendliest service from Rochelle - she's terrific.

Every time I buy one for my dog, she basically goes to a corner and spends the whole day munching on it. A great way to keep her busy (and her teeth clean) without adding many calories. She goes through a couple of these a month. Great products. Just surprised they're not more popular.

This week I tried the strawberry shortcake and white meringue cake. The strawberry topper was a little old but the rest of the cake was moist and fresh. They really load it with a generous amount of whipped cream. I wish there was more cake and less filling. A minor issue though. This cake is way better than those offered by other large chain grocery stores. Very dependable. Love the elegant box and delicate orange ribbon - very nice touch.

Conscientiously raised poultry & eggs, and charcuterie are also available . I don't know the folks who organize this farmer's market personally, but I know they work hard to make it useful and inviting to a wide demographic and a focal point for local commerce and positive change. Before the neighborhood had municipal composting there were compost collection bins on farmer's market days, which I think were courtesy of the Lower East Side Ecology Center (If I'm wrong, my apologies). There is currently a garment donation area during market, and usually some tastefully handled (non-invasive) live music playing while people shop and talk under the trees and around the colonnade. I really appreciate this market and await their return in warmer months.

The good news is this Farmers Market is open through December 22 and they have my favorite Meredith's Bread. The bad news is having to go so far for my favorite brand. If you are in the neighborhood stop by this market. There's more vendors than my market at 97nd Street on Second Avenue. While you are there check out Meredith's! See you there 12/02/23.

I have passed this place several times, but never really had a chance to stop by to explore it, yesterday I figured that I'll give it a shot, and I was not disappointed at all. I arrived a minute after their closing time (As usual...) and most of the refrigerators where closed down already and some lights out, but the super nice Mr. Harvest (didn't catch his name) told me that I could come in and get my stuff... So, running around like a penguin, I grab some interesting looking produce (Mini baby eggplants, Wild mushrooms, Sabra etc.) and I ask the guy if he has some fresh clementine's and he's like, "Sure thing Abe" and opens all the refrigerators for me to browse through the other stuff as well, and although it was already all closed shop he was really nice and attentive, and then I spotted my new best friend, Mr. Pink! Now Mr. Pink is a Orange that is Pink from the inside (Orange is the new black?! me thinks Orange is the new Pink!) and has a sweet and refreshing flavor and definitely worth the extra quarter . So, in overall this place is a nice little place with a rustic interesting décor (Huge wooden wheel chandelier, brick walls and so on..) and they have all the "Cream Of The Crop" produce that you normally won't find in your local supermarket, at very reasonable prices and great customer service.
