They had a great drop-in deal of 19 Euros for the first class. Mat, mat towel, and shower towel were included for the first class as well. The yoga instructor was very nice and friendly. When she checked me in she asked me what language I preferred, and she spoke English to me while she got me acquainted to the space. Mod Yoga was a lot bigger than I thought. It had a few rooms - I think I saw a total of 4 rooms - for practicing yoga and perhaps other fitness oriented styles like pilates. The locker room was big. I would even say probably the biggest one I've seen, and the first I've seen that included showers. I took a vinyasa class at 9:30am. The room was heated, and the class was full. The teacher taught the entirety of the class in French, which was totally fine since I understand French a little and was able to follow along easily by listening to Sanskrit and watching her demo. I had a very wonderful experience, and I would certainly come back to this studio next time I'm in the area.

Ever since I took my first class with Modo Yoga I knew it was the right place for me. When Modo Yoga came to Paris, I can't even begin to explain how excited I was! This was my chance to get back into my practice, and pick up where I left off after leaving Canada 6 years ago. Doing yoga in a hot room is definitely a bit different if you're used to practicing at normal ambient temperatures, but I truly believe it has so many benefits. These are the reasons why I love practicing in the hot room: 1. Improved Flexibility. The heat warms up your muscles, allowing you to have better range of motion/flexibility, ultimately allowing you to move at a quicker pace to more advanced postures 2. Breathing. The heat actually challenges your breathing, making it more audible and more importantly, making you more aware of it. 3. Mindfulness and acceptance. You learn to accept yourself, when you're drenched in sweat, when you have a tough time doing a posture as well as your neighbour. You become mindful of your thoughts and your body's limitations, the drama of the ego - accept and let it go. 4. Meditation and relaxation. The more I practice, the more my body takes control and my mind is freed. And the these are the reasons why I love Modo Yoga Paris! 1. Exceptional, inspiring teachers and staff! They always make me feel so at home, exude so much positivity and even after such a short time since they opened I have this feeling of knowing some of the staff for a very long time :) 2. Feeling part of a special community. It's like Modo Yoga has a filter at the front door, only positive energy and lovely people seem to walk through! 3. We have been in…read moreParis for 6 weeks and have been attending yoga classes w/Letitia and private Pilates sessions w/Isabel and Dominic. They communicate in English as our French is insufficient. We have attended the 7:30 and 8 am yoga class which have not had more than 3 people in it -apparently the French are not early morning practitioners. The class is labeled ashtanga. Letitia is gentle and provides individualized adjustments. The class is gentle but provides a full body work out. Her chanting is beautiful and worth the class by itself. The Pilates/feldenkrais/Franklin body work has been excellent. Isabel and Dominic are excellent at observing your body and providing specific instructions tailored to you to improve the efficacy of your practice, strengthening your particular areas of weakness. We highly recommend them to anyone interested in strengthening their body with efficient safe instruction. The facility is clean, pleasant and filled with a lot of toys used for various types of body work. The reformers in Pilates room have also just been upgraded. There is also a new Cadillac. Other classes also look cool but we are only here for six weeks so have to make time for culture and restaurants too!

They have one big studio with a huge skylight that is absolutely gorgeous. It is a very peaceful place to practice. I took an early afternoon class, so the room was not dark at all, so if you are looking for a dark place to practice, maybe try the night class. This studio provided mats, blocks and blankets at no extra charge. I believe they have straps too. The mat was clean and every one cleaned their mat after class with the adorable CLEAN colorful washcloths and cleaning fluid provided. I thought that was a nice touch. There are changing rooms and clean restrooms and the staff is incredibly helpful and nice. Silke was an amazing instructor. The class was 1hr and 15mins. I have been practicing for years and she was able to teach me a thing or two. I was even able to accomplish moves I had never been able to do before. She broke everything down step by step and even provided demonstrations. I also liked her opening and closing to the class- her view on the practice of yoga and how that carries out in your day to day. Overall I had a great experience at this studio and plan to return again during my stay in Paris. I highly recommend this studio to Americans passing through Paris and wanting to get their yoga fix -'or to anyone that is looking to practice. Could not find the right time frame and took my chances at Paris. Very nice clean studio. Did not tell the teacher I speak no French until after the class. I guess I did ok since she did a lot of adjustments. But very few on me. Came back for another class following day told the teach I speak no French but I dont think she spoke any English, which is fine. It's amazing that the sequence is almost the same of what im used to. Even the inversions at the end. By the way I'm a 74 yd old man.

It took me a while to finally get to Yogafactory, but I have since become a regular here. Classes range in intensity and are conducted in French. If you don't understand French, you can follow the other students, but you lose out on the adjustments and encouragements in the dialogue. The room is heated, but not as high as the temperatures in Bikram or in Hot Yoga Studios in NY. The studios are clean and fully equipped with showers, lockers, and hairdryers but you do have to bring your own soap or bring/rent a towel. The instructors have always been very helpful and open to answering my questions. I would have to say that in France, instructors generally do not physically adjust students very much, but they will do so verbally and some have been more hands on. The level of ability of the students here is also above average for the city as I have found other studios to be too easy. I would recommend this studio to anyone who has a regular Vinyasa practice. For French speakers, the range in levels offers a great introduction. They have really challenged me over the past few months and helped me develop my core and arm strength through inversions and lifts. And I am far more well versed in anatomy in French now as well! Consider French lessons a secondary benefit!

Her rock and roll hard attitude is best suited in a bar not a yoga space. I've never walked out of a class thinking wtf just happened. I chose Big Apple mostly b/c of proximity & class time (fri 6:30pm). I easily found the class in a non-descript bldg off an alley. The studio is clean, neat & stocked with all props. Mat rental is 1€. There is a shower too I believe. The teacher Tatiana checked my boyfriend and I in and was extremely pleasant & spoke perfect English. Class was not cheap but the level of teaching was commensurate. Although the other students (only 5 of us in total but it was August holiday) were tiny, very fit & clearly seasoned yogis, my boyfriend with little experience (but fit) and myself (a therapeutic yoga teacher with many injuries) were still able to follow-along with a bit of neck twisting to see. Class was 95% beautiful French w/a few English cues, for us I assume. Expect a serious vinyasa class for moderate-advanced practitioners. This is NOT a class for those with injuries/illness unless you can safely modify. We are still sore & achy (from muscle pain) 4 days later!!! Tatiana taught a head & shoulder-stand with assistance. The moderate pace was very nice with time to move carefully but definitely a tough workout.

But the spin studio is back outside the big door, maybe 5 doors down the street. Weird arrangement, but the spin studio is in a bright, lovely storefront that was quite nice - cobblestone walls, etc. Bikes weren't the newest, but were totally serviceable. The French don't seem to love the concept of spinning (they're like - go outside, ride a bike, d'uh) so this was the only studio I could find where you could just take a class without a full-blown gym membership. Charming street, studio was clean, teacher didn't really speak English but he tried very hard and, btw, the studio IS in France, so I give him credit for even trying. Less cool was that the teacher was late, and I understand that's pretty much a regular occurrence, per the other student. There were only two students in class, including me, which was actually just fine. Class was a pretty decent workout, with good music and a nice interval training section, though no upper body work like I've grown to expect from spin classes. Super nice perk was that the studio has a nice private shower and the people at the desk, etc. spoke perfect English.

Expensive for what it was…read more Rituel Studio is situated on the other side of a courtyard and not visible right from the street (except for a portion that doesn't seem to be connected to the main studio that is sometimes used for spinning classes). I arrived in front of the door and all I saw was a digicode and a sign with the studio's name and number. I checked my email to see if the code to open the door was in the confirmation email but it was not. I guess you have to ask them for the code? Anyway, I was about to call the studio to open the door when some guys were leaving, so I slipped in before the door shut and saw the beautiful studio across the courtyard. It had a couch, some merchandise for sale and cubbies to store your shoes. Upon arriving, I let the woman at the front desk know it was my first time and she showed me where to put my things and directed me to the studio. It was a nice space with a mirrored wall and ballet barres on the wall similar to barre studios in the US. I chose a spot at the back (non-mirrored wall). Also, something I found different was that the floor was not carpeted like barre studios in the US. I had socks on but some people were barefoot. The instructor was English and most of the people in the class seemed to be native English speakers as well. Being American, I had no problem with a class in English. But this wasn't noted on the website when I signed up, so if I was a French woman who had no English skills, that might put me off if I walked into a class taught in English without knowing ahead of time. It was my first time doing Xtend Barre so I don't have anything to compare it to. We started out with a warm-up, then used light hand weights for upper body work (I grabbed 1.5 kg after the instructor's suggestion), worked our legs, butt, abs and all the regular things you do in barre class. I noticed the instructor didn't point out any modifications for the exercises so if you weren't able to do a particular move, you just tried your best or modified it on your own. Our instructor had perfect technique and was really fit. The music was fun and fit nicely with the flow of the class, but the instructor didn't use a mic and sometimes it was hard to hear over the music despite the room being small. As I mentioned, I chose a spot on the back wall without a mirror. This wasn't the smartest move because I found myself having to turn around when we were doing moves facing the wall to see the instructor. If my wall had been mirrored I could have seen her in the reflection without having to stop and look behind me. While I had sweat dripping off my face (room was really hot) and enjoyed myself, the class wasn't super difficult. I wasn't sore at all the next day and was disappointed about that! I never found myself looking at the clock and really liked the pace of the class and that we didn't stay on one exercise too long -- each move was maybe only 10 reps so I never got bored. I feel like we only pushed ourselves 70% of the way, though. I never felt like I was pushing myself until failure. Overall, I felt I did work my muscles -- the class wasn't easy and I found myself taking a quick break and then jumping back into a few exercises. There were challenging moves, but I don't feel we did enough reps to get a real burn going. I wanted more!
