If you haven't heard about the Vineyard Church of Columbus yet, you will. It currently is the second largest church in the State of Ohio with over 10,000 members and infinitely more visitors. But don't let the size fool you. This isn't any ordinary Church. Pastor John Wimber founded the Vineyard movement out in Ahaheim, California back in the early '70s as a result of the Jesus Movement when hippies were converting to Christ in droves. The Vineyard movement came to Columbus soon thereafter through the leadership of former Ohio State Law School Professor, Rich Nathan. Rich is still the Senior Pastor today. If you're looking for a small fellowship, Vineyard may not be your choice, but don't let the size fool you. Within this mega-Church, you will find a very close-knit group of believers who only want to include you within its loving community. As a matter of fact, the latest building addition is their "Community Center" which incorporates after school programs along with sporting events and all kinds of family services. This is a remarkable outreach ministry which has allowed the Vineyard to open its doors throughout the week to every citizen of Columbus as a safe-haven for recreation and family activities. The Vineyard has something for every walk of life from Single Parent Fair to AA meetings to Golf Leagues. If you can't find something you like, you won't find it anywhere else either. In order to keep the "close-knit" community environment alive, Pastor Rich strongly encourages Church members to get involved in "Home Groups" which meet throughout the week at members' homes. Again, diversity is the key to success. There are Home Groups for everyone from Singles to Parents to Seniors. The most amazing part of the Vineyard movement is that nobody is excluded from participating in this community. Everyone is welcome to worship and celebrate in a very unencumbered environment where people come as they are. The dress is casual. The music is wonderful and the messages are life-changing. If you're seeking a Church that "has-it-all", your best bet is Vineyard Church of Columbus.

Pros: senior pastor Rich Nathan and relevant messages. Such as; welcoming refugees with love. Beautiful building and lots of opportunities for worship at all ages. Cons: sometimes the music isn't the best engaging and flow of service at the end is awkward.

11:30am service, one of two every Sunday.

I came to this church in the summer for the Vineyard National Conference, it was awesome. The volunteers were really nice and helpful.

Rich Nathan used to teach at OSU, so it makes sense that he'll bring in all kinds of knowledge into his sermon.

But, Nathan, our tour guide was friendly, personable, fun, helpful and a font of interesting information regarding some of the places on the National Registry in this area, and historic landmarks all of which I sadly knew nothing about. He was funny, took time to answer questions, and was very patient and supportive of the inquisitive two elementary-aged kids on the bus. Russ, the driver of our small, but very comfortable, AC bus, was also very helpful as he assisted me with my walker to get on, off, and about the different stops along the tour. It was also pretty amazing to see how Russ was able to drive our small tour bus through some of the narrow entrances and exits of different locations like Blendon Central Cemetery off Hempstead Rd. One of the other staff members on the tour bus, Will, went above and beyond to help my wife and me get into the buildings and locations available to us on the tour. Sometimes assisted me with my walker fin an effort to allow me access to some of these beautiful churches, a log cabin and other places that I otherwise would not have been able to see. It was especially fun when we went in to the old, historic landmark of the Central College Presbyterian Church, where we learned the history of this beautiful church with the stained glass windows. There's still time to view the amazingly beautiful and touching display of flags this Memorial Day weekend at the Flag of Heroes commemorative during this weekend. And, if you have the chance, say hello to Nathan, Russ, and Will who will take you on the Heritage Tour of Westerville at the Field of Heroes at County-Line Rd. and Cleveland Ave.
