And that requires looking for bargain stores such as this. The range of products on offer is quite generous both in quantity and economically. You've probably driven past this on Stockport road and dismissed it for its underwhelming front of house Aesthetic. (The big shop sign currently reads Ever..) But don't be fooled by appearances this place is misleadingly HUGE once you're inside. They sell everything from timber for your gardening needs to cheap bathroom units incase your bathtub collapses for whatever adventurous reason (using it as a stepping stool while tiling?) The service is what I come here for though. And I'm not talking about cheesy smiles and being asked about your health every two seconds. (Yes, for the umpteenth time, I'm ok really!!)It's very direct and to the point! So just tell them EXACTLY what you're dilemma is and they'll help you find the most innovative and cheapest way to solve your problem! The staff are DIY'ers which explains it all. This review is bring written on the go on my mobile so apologies for the lack of substantial body of text. The furniture isnt up to much either, it's mostly the rustic look that was popular a while ago. Then, Dave the owner (these guys are always called Dave. Even the Polish guy in my local tool shop is called Dave) will go directly to a shelf, as if he possesses some kind of DIY satellite navigation system and produce what you are looking for. This is just so alien in a world where customer service is almost non-existent and most other shop assistants do not even attempt to apologise when the object of your desire is sold out and you won't even be able to get it online. "You can always try Ebay though." Frustrating!! Homecrafts is not just any run of the mill hardware store though. Yes it has the obligatory nails and paintbrushes, chisels and hammers,( and the bloke who works there may even be called Dave) but what I want to draw my Yelpers attention to is the excellent framing service that it operates. Recently I had a professional photo-shoot of the little ones and the picture that I had enlarged was an enormous and irregular size. I looked long and hard for a suitable frame but I had to admit defeat and commence my quest for a bespoke framing service. These are few and far between in Manchester so I checked out the net and they were perfect but expensive. A chance encounter when I needed some picture hooks led me into Homecrafts of Davyhulme and I was astonished to see that it sold a range of frames that can be custom made for you. There was a good choice of frames and mounts and my frame was ready and waiting for me to collect within 5 days. The best part was the price; the total cost was £55 and the only other quote which had come even close to this was £135. Total bargain and quick friendly service. I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else now.

They are friendly but more importantly they realy know their stuff. This is not the cheapest DIY store but by no means hte most expensive either. The advice is good and freely offered by staff that really care.

They're basically a kitchen/home ware shop, specialising in quality bits and bobs. The shop is quite small but is literally packed with bits and bobs. These include kettles, pans, toasters, knife sets, chopping boards, cups, plates, utensils, other crockery and cafatieres etc. They are middle of the road in terms of their prices, and you could probably get everything that they sell, but poorer quality from the likes of Ikea! But they do sell quality stuff, and stylish items that help you kit out your art deco pad. Definitely worth a look if you're passing through Heswall!

Besides your usual kitchenware and interesting gadgets, you will also find some pretty dishes and teapots, cute oven mitts and tea cosies, potato shaped veg brushes (so cute!), cake decorating items and cake toppers, wedding favour items (including spools of ribbon, ribbon roses, mini horseshoe charms, etc.), and so much more. I would say that if you are ever in the area and love this kind of shop it would be a really nice thing to do to buy your stuff here rather than at Lakeland. It does the general diy stuff you'd expect with some gardening stuff, furniture, and a good selection of homeware such as crockery, bedding, and they do plenty of nice things to decorate the house. The best thing is if you sign up for a free spend and save card so every time you buy something, you get points and these add up to vouchers to use in store. Another bonus is that they have 10% off days quite frequently where everything, even reduced stuff has 10% off. We've dropped on some great savings here and often wait for these weekends to save money. Customer service is great here and if you need to return something you can do it without much trouble at all. All its missing is a coffee shop!

The items are always kept well stocked and well organised. The staff at Home Bargains are friendly and are happy to help you find what you want within the store. The queues at the till are sometimes quite tong, but the staff often open extra tills at these times. Once you are at the front of the queue the staff serve you quickly and will help you pack your bags if you need the help. They are happy to chat whilst doing this. Things to look out for here: cheap hair dye and bottles of wine :)
