A local bakery with 5 stars and I can see why! I screwed up and enjoyed my sunrise morning coffee for too long showing up here about 30 mins after they opened. With approx 50 people in front of me I knew I wasn't going to be able to grab everything I wanted. So come before opening and get in line if you have your heart set on something specific. We got a few croissants, Muesli sourdough bread, potato buns, and pretzels. All FANTASTIC! Fresh and some items still warm. Pro tips, grab some country dijon mustard for your pretzels. Life changing. And some French butter for your bread. Splurge, it's so worth it. The bread has no preservatives so enjoy it fast (up to 3 days) or freeze some of it. I missed out on several items such as cheese croissants, kouign amann, and seasonal Danish so that just means I'll have to come back here and extra early. The bakery has an open design so you get to watch everyone hard at work. The aroma... Maybe they can bottle up all the amazing scents happening here and begin selling them in perfume bottles? I think my fav of the four was the guava cream but all 4 were AWESOME! I've come here about 3 times and the bread and service has always been very good. It's obviously fresh but it also tastes good, the guy at the register seems like a genuine good dude, he gifted my wife a baby loaf. Gotta say, the pastries were a hit, stopped by over the weekend on our way to Palm Springs. Although the pastries were great, the coffee side of the shop wasn't it. The coffee person was so rude. Seemed rushed to order and had a nasty attitude towards us, honestly tainted the experience overall. As for the goods, we got a chocolate cherry sourdough bread that was bomb and we loved, not heavily sweet at all, believe it was a special for Valentine's Day! Coffee wise, we got a shortbread latte that didn't quiet taste like.. coffee? Absolutely no coffee flavor, kinda tasted like just milk and syrup, let alone the shortbread wasn't really present. We've picked up baked goods from here a few times, and I have to say that I can see why they are so popular and sell out pretty fast daily! We've tried a couple of their sourdough loaves and tried quite a few of their pastries. Everything is so fresh and consistently tastes great! Their croissants are fluffy and buttery, the pain au chocolate uses chocolate from a local shop, the pain au fromage had a great pastry to cheese ratio, and the cookies are a must try (they rotate flavors). I was planning a trip to Calimesa to get sausage, etc. from George's. Another yelper suggested I stop here too. Glad I did. My SO is European and hates all the bread available in the US. When we saw the line for Village Bread (at 8am!!), we almost didn't do it, but we figured these people must be on to something. Waited 20 minutes or so, then got the the front of the line. We decided to get everything imaginable: Classic Sourdough, Vollkornbrot, Batard, Croissant, Pain au Chocolate and (never heard of it) Kouign Amann. All were good, especially the Vollkornbrot, but I have to say the sweet stuff was out of this world good. So much butter in the Croissant and especially the Kouign Amann. So...if you're in the area, go there. Make sure it's early as they sell until they run out. You will not regret it. read more
