We tried this before it closed in 2008 and were so disappointed. After it reopened we heard it was much cleaner and better. We heard right. Their ginger salad was fantastic with the chicken incredibly moist and tender. The lasagna was heavy on ricotta and light on red sauce (unlike the way I make it) and we enjoyed very much the way hey serve it. Another guest had the hamburger and fries and thankfully she shared her fries. They were so good and the mushrooms reportedly were perfect. The meal was a dining experience and we were not rushed in the slightest. The ambience was so nice with the clean walls, murals and alcoves. We could have eaten outside as well. Our server was very polite and enjoyed our sense of humor. We will definitely be back. read more

I'm a little sad the decor changed so much from when I was a kid. I will say the server was very sweet and attentive, the food was delicious (pesto ravioli ) and the desert was awesome . The coconut cheese cake was delicious and homemade . I would love to help decorate this place professionally if allowed. Delightfully surprised. I have driven past this restaurant for years and finally a group of us neighbors went there for dinner a couple of nights ago. It's a small-ish restaurant with nice, cozy, romantic ambiance, very pleasant servers, and an intriguing menu. We all shared the Garlic Cheese Bread, which I enjoyed. I had the Chicken Marsala, which was delicious, and I'm rather picky. I took some left overs home, and the next day it was just a delicious. My husband had the Manicotti; the pasta was cooked al dente...we prefer it cooked more, but still it was good. Our friend ordered the tapioca and the chocolate mousse, which I tasted - both were delicious. A few of our friends had the Chicken Alfredo, which they said was also delicious. Wow I have no idea what other people who have been here are tasting or are experiencing. First of all the ambience is OK the tables look like they would feel more at home at an ihop than at a restaurant charging 20+ dollars for entrees. Secondly the food is a la carte and when I say that I mean it absolutely. No bread no salad and with the eggplant parmigiana no side of spaghetti. Very small portions and again NOTHING ELSE. Then let's get to the food. I lived in Italy so I know Italian food. But I was not expecting authentic Italian but Italian American. That is NOT what I got. I got little scraps of eggplant thrown into a pile with sauce on it and then some cheese. NOT eggplant parmigiana. It was not breaded or fried. Even Olive Garden ( which I would have preferred to this place) knows that. The sauce was awful. My poor son needed something more to eat on the way home. I'm so upset. 56 dollars for a horrible meal. Will NEVER GO BACK. read more

A tremendous treat to finally get to stop here for dinner. It's always so fun to try out a new place and find that it's as charming, warm and welcoming as you had hoped it would be. I've always driven by here and and wanted to try it out because looked so cute. So finally we decided to go with friends on a Thursday night. The ambiance is great even though theres room for improvement but i like the place because its old with that old cute building. There were mouses running around the outside sitting area. The food was disaster. IDK how this place got 4.5 stars, it definitely doesn't deserve it. The prices were high for the bad quality food they gave. I ordered Chicken Marsala with a side of salad. I didnt touch the salad because it looked awful and the dressing tested awful. The main food wasn't very bad but I would never eat it again. Then we ordered a cheesecake which was not fresh and we didnt eat. Awful...Maybe if they improve the food quality they can be a 5 star. read more

Intimate atmosphere, delicious food (that cheesecake!), and warm customer service. My sister recommended this place for a small family get-together because we wanted to meet someplace with: a) enough privacy for personal conversations, and b) good food. It's not everyday that we all love the same place, but each of us were beyond impressed with this hidden gem. When I walked in, I was greeted with a genuine smile and sincere customer service. I automatically got the vibe that this was a family run restaurant (which was later confirmed). The place was mostly empty at the time of my arrival -- there was just a couple at a booth and a father with his young kids. But within about 20 minutes the restaurant had filled up. There was only one waitress when it filled up, so the service maybe wasn't initially as fast as some other places, but she was sure to check in with us whenever we needed. There was also another employee who was available, so we never found ourselves waiting on service. Food was reasonably priced. I ordered a caprese (listed as a starter) and it was about $9 -- it was delicious. I was tempted to order another one since my sister stole half my dish. One of my sisters ordered a main dish (can't remember which, some kind of pasta) and it was priced at around $17 -- she loved it. We ordered a cheesecake to share, but once we tasted it, we immediately had to order a second....and a third for my sister to take home to her husband. I mean, yeah, we have a bunch of kids and don't get out alone much, but this cheesecake was seriously that good ;) All of this in itself was enough for me to rate the restaurant 5 stars, but really what makes me wish I could give it 6 is what happened at the end of the night. As I mentioned earlier in this review, my family and I were looking for a place with enough privacy for us to have a personal conversation. Well, some of their booths are *very* private (as in, there are walls around them, with only an arched doorway for the server to access. So, as we rambled on and on with each other, far outstanding our stay, I'm sure, we had no idea the restaurant had already closed. The servers were being so friendly and patient the whole time, we just didn't realize how late it was until we finally paid and stood to leave -- at which point they politely (and with a warm smile) told us that the front door was locked but they kept the backdoor open for us. Needless to say, we will all be coming back (and leaving on time ;)). read more

First, the actual restaurant. Some people may find it cute, quaint or homey. I found it old and a little dirty. The carpet is palm trees that clearly needs to be replaced or steam cleaned. Also not a big fan of having some semi professional play keyboards and sort of sing. The food though is pretty good. The waiter did not tell us that soup was an extra dollar, played it off as if it came with the meal. I had chicken Marsala. Not as good as Cheesecake Factory. Also the sauce was a dark brown. Always saw this place driving by and thought it was so cute. Read all the yelp reviews and decided to check it out. We came on Mother's Day but not for brunch. For dinner. I am giving two stars for ambiance and friendly staff otherwise it would have gotten one star from me. The photos posted look delicious. I ordered the trout because it looked so great in the photos. It had no flavor. No seasoning. The mashed potatoes and the vegetables lacked flavor and were cold. The minestrone soup was so salty and tasted like canned soup. Even the garlic cheese bread was lackluster. I will give credit to the ambiance. Very cute indoors and outdoors go for the drinks and ambiance not the food. The peroni beer was the best part of our meal. Husband had the halibut and it was basically all butter yet no flavor. read more

Villa Terraza is a hidden cozy Italian restaurant with delicious garlic bread. The outside seating area is perfect for a casual date night underneath the lights surrounded by trees and flowers. Few things which could have improved my dining experience: 1. Possible renovation? We sat inside and the furniture and carpet seemed a bit outdated which effected my dining experience. But then again- it's Tujunga so can't expect much. 2. Limited menu options: For an Italian restaurant the pasta section of the menu is limited. I didn't really see anything I liked so I created my own dish - spaghetti with pink sauce and a meatball. The pink sauce was delicious and the meatball was moist. For a quick Italian dish fix I will go back and stuff my face with pink sauce and garlic bread. read more

A Disappointment on Valentine's Day. I was so excited to visit this restaurant on Valentine's Day, especially with such glowing reviews. I would also much rather support a local business than a chain restaurant, but unfortunately, it did not go well. We walked in with a reservation and were sat down quickly, which was great. However, things quickly went downhill after that. Ten minutes go by and no one walks over to service us. No biggie, it's Valentine's Day and I completely understand it's a hectic night. Another five minutes go by and then another five. No one approached our table for twenty minutes. Finally the waitress comes over and tells us she'll bring waters - still doesn't take our drink or food order. Another ten minutes go by. Now it's been thirty minutes and we're barely getting water. Okay rough start but the night is still young, what else can go wrong? The waitress comes back, doesn't greet us but just straight asks what we want. Well, for Valentine's Day they have this prefixed menu so your options are limited and the price is set. I didn't have a problem with that but when I asked for the Lobster and the waitress replies with "Oh we don't have that we're about to run out"....so I'm assuming I can't have it. I order a different entree and then you can either choose a Green Salad or Split Pea Soup, fine I go with the soup. The meal also comes with a glass of house wine which she never offered and scooped up our menus to leave before I asked about the wine. "You can only have the house wine" she replies gruffly and I ask her if they have any sweet wine which she then says "No". Okay well can you refer some wines that are and I'll pay them separately? Appetizers come out after another twenty minutes. The salad was decent but the soup was definitely not soup, it was mush. At first I thought it was mashed potatoes, but alas it was not. Food comes out soon after and a nice gentleman asks if we'd like cheese. After we say yes he leaves and neither he nor the cheese ever come back to the table. The waitress also doesn't come by our table to check in on us but I see her frequently checking in on the tables with the older couples. Food was okay, nothing special. My boyfriend finishes his plate and being the slow eater that I am, I take my time. I am almost done when the waitress finally stops by our table. At this point, I'm starting to get annoyed. But dessert is about to come by and my boyfriend's been eyeing the cheesecake everyone seems to be receiving so at least that's something to look forward to. NOPE! The waitress tells us they're out of cheesecake and then begins to tell us how great the cheesecake was and that they had just given away the final slice before us. Yup, that finally did me in. So basically I just paid for a meal that 1) had horrible service, 2) did not have items that were advertised, and 3) mediocre food that was absolutely not worth the price I was paying. But hey, they get a star for the nice parking attendant, the attentive busboys, and the manager who was handing out roses to the patrons. Oh and the marinara sauce that came with the garlic bread was pretty good. All in all, I should've just saved myself the headache and some money by going to the Olive Garden. read more

What a gem! The inner booth provide great intimacy. You should ask for the lights inside to be dimmed if eating at night. The grounds are flowery and spacious.The food is amazing! Do try the lasagna! Went with a group of 9 for a friend's birthday late dinner last night. They setup a nice long table in the outside area that was really cute- the restaurant looked like an old stylea castle in the back that you were able to take stairs to the top. I ordered the chicken alfredo with broccoli- came with a soup or salad. Food came & was pretty bland but after adding Parmesan cheese & crushed red pepper, was pretty tasty. Halfway through my meal, I realized that there wasn't any chicken & thought to ask but hardly anyone checked on our group, so I chose to forget about it. read more

We conveniently made our reservation online and had a confirmed reservation within minutes to celebrate my wife's birthday dinner at Villa Terraza Restaurant. Back in 1936, it was originally called the Old Vienna Gardens Restaurant. We were greeted upon arrival by the CEO Jorge Valladares and it had been years since our last visit to this unique Italian restaurant. We had a nice bottle of Napa wine, Ceasar Salad and chicken parmesan. We had an enjoyable evening at this one of a kind restaurant with lots of history since 1936. Our server was outstanding and the quality of the food was excellent. We will definitely be returning in the near future and looking forward to another evening at Villa Terraza. Took a party of 9 there, with two babies. Not only were they on top of the high chair situation, not only did we get not just good but great service, but this was some of the best Italian food I've ever had. I could just eat the garlic bread with marinara sauce and it would have been a meal, but we also tried the fried mozzarella, which was perfect. And the entries were next level good as well. I was browsing thru Facebook yesterday and saw a beautiful post with photos of a gorgeous wedding that was recently had at Villa Terraza and they had said how wonderful the owners were throughout the whole wedding experience and said yes to every request and it just reminded me that I had forgotten to write this post until now so here goes... I live in Shadow Hills and have always been curious about this lovely place every time I drive by. It has a certain ambiance that speaks to you and sort of "draws you in with curiosity". I heard it had recently re-opened for lunch & dinner so I figured what better time than on my birthday to try it out. My good friend who was a chef at some of the finest restaurants in West Hollywood was visiting me at the time so I wanted to be sure the food would be gooood wherever we ate! The entire experience was delicious and beautiful in every! The owner was very attentive to all of us throughout our dinner, the food and presentation was so down home delicious in every way! From the cheesy garlic bread to the salmon to the chicken picatta. The free birthday dessert and the awesome tour of the grounds by the owner himself (the most gracious host) at the end of our lovely meal was the cherry that will keep me coming back from years to come! read more

When I first moved to Sunland, this place was gated up. One day, as I was driving by, I noticed that a little sign had appeared which just read: "RESTAURANT." Hmmm, what could this be? Over the next few months, the "RESTAURANT" gradually began to take shape and they opened up this past summer. Been meaning to check it out so came here for dinner on Xmas eve with friends and family. Was not disappointed! They had a special on blackened salmon with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. It was delicious. Cheesy garlic bread was mm-mm good. Others in my party ordered the shrimp scampi and spaghetti with marinara and everyone was satisfied. In fact, one of our friends said she'd dined at an Italian restaurant in Bev Hills a couple of days before and preferred Villa Terraza's interpretation by far. Wait staff was friendly and attentive and accommodated special requests with grace and ease. Prices were mid-range for the Valley but reasonable for a good Italian meal in L.A. generally (about $12 for a no-frills plate of pasta on up to about $35 if you're seeking steak). The history here truly infuses the atmosphere and I loved the quaint little booth-in-a-room. Would've liked to wander around a little more but it was FREEZING and windy that night, so I may do a little more exploring on our next visit...I think it will be soon! read more

We ordered their meat lasagna, chicken Alfredo, spaghetti w meat sauce and of course the cheesy garlic bread all to go. Just one look at the color of the sauce and I knew I was going to good ...it was actually delicious.
