I wanted to take my mother-in-law to a great restaurant to celebrate her 97th birthday. I live 50 miles north and after researching restaurants near her home I found the gem!!! I cannot understand why they do not have 5 stars across the board. We dined in cheese ravioli cooked to perfection and covered with a delicious marinara sauce. The pear salad with spring mix lettuce, walnuts, crumbled Gorgonzola was served with the most scrumptious mustard dressing. The eggplant rolatini had the perfect amount of ricotta, fresh mozzarella and again the spectacular marinara sauce. As soon as I returned home, I told my husband that we must make the trip down to this great find. P.S. our server Johnny was most attentive and one of the owners was quite gracious when I told him how wonderful this find is and that he made my mother-in-laws day!! read more

The food here is good but I'm annoyed at the fact that I'm sitting in the dining area with my children and my disabled 8 year old son did not want to order the kids personal pizza and just wanted a slice and I was told it wasn't allowed. I think that's ridiculous and annoyed that you can't order what you want. Shouldn't a restaurant be pleasing their customer instead of pissing them off. I will not be eating here again! ! read more

Villa Positano is still my favorite Italian restaurant in this area. I've been back several times and have not been disappointed. The salads are cold and crispy and I love their balsamic and Italian dressings. Their rolls are warm and doughy (I love them!) but if you prefer the Italian loaf it's warm and crusty. We usually get the veal or chicken parm, which are satisfying portions of delicious traditional food. Their sauce is so tasty, it's made for dipping the bread into. The waitstaff are top notch - helpful, friendly, and efficient. Prices are fair. Who could ask for anything more? read more

I was in the area with my coworkers and we stopped in for lunch. We shared a pizza and got side salads. The salad was fresh romaine - not the typical iceberg many places serve as side salads. The blue cheese dressing was amazing! It had chunks of cheese, was creamy and tasted homemade. The salads came with warm semolina bread out of the oven - yes these details make a huge difference! The pizza was cooked perfectly. When a restaurant uses quality ingredients even a simple pizza and salad can be off the charts! The service was prompt, friendly, AND the place is impeccably clean. Very good pizza in a town that desperately needed it. Haven't tried the entrees yet, but was pleasantly surprised by their use of real sausage & good quality pepperoni. As the previous reviewer mentioned, this town is lacking quite a bit in terms of restaurants, but Italian places isn't one of them. Also like he said, this is a good middle-of-the-road place -- not fancy but not just a pizza place. The decor is very nice and inviting. I find it a little strange that it's divided between pizza and restaurant, and even more strange that you can't get pizza on the restaurant side, except for a personal pizza, which is completely different from the slices they sell on the other side. Overall, the food was quite good. The first time I went I had the bowtie positano. It was very tasty, but a bit oily. The second time we had the eggplant rollatini (good, but nothing out of this world) and chicken parm (very good). The service was very slow and they needed at least one more waitress. I'm going to chalk this up to the place being new. But if the terrible service continues, I don't know how often we will return. read more

We had associates from around the country and our work took us to Monroe area. We stopped at Villa Positano and we were glad we did. The food was fresh and prepared just as it is in Italy. Seafood was equal to any you will find in NYC area. And the pizza was fantastic . Excellent service in the bar and restaurant as well. read more

Always nice to have a new restaurant in town. I was a tad skeptical of yet another Italian place (do we have too many here, perhaps?), but it appears to sit nicely in a niche between basic pizza joint and upscale eatery (Angelo's, Tres Angelina). Nice job on the interior, the layout is well done. The front half (front right, more accurately) is your standard pizza joint. Looked fine, but we opted for the sit-down section. The bread on the table was very good quality, but nearly stale -- careful. The fried (or was it baked?) vegetable appetizer was excellent. Just enough breading, not greasy at all, veggies stayed crisp yet still tender. Even the kids loved them. We had a variety of salads. All quite fresh, and we enjoyed them all. I had the linguine with putanesca. I find it difficult to find a good putanesca that is evenly flavored and isn't overpowering. Villa Positano nailed it. Even as leftovers the next day I was surprised at how good it was. The personal pizza, however, was way too greasy, to the point of being completely soggy and soaking all of the way through the crust. And why does your pizza sauce -- and dare I say some of your other tomato sauces, too -- have to be so sweet? It doesn't, so stop that. The acid was bred out of tomatoes years ago, so the addition of sugar is unnecessary these days. We had the same complaint with the sauce over the ravioli. I'd like to go back and try more things, as I believe they have earned another chance from me. If whatever I get next is as good as the putanesca, I'm in. It did seem a tad expensive for what it was, though. But then I take another bite of the putanesca and all is forgiven. Why can't anyone make a decent pizza in this town, though??? read more

Delicious veggie pizza! We came here for dinner twice and the food and service were very good. The restaurant area is very nice and the pizzeria is big, clean and inviting with a lot of options. We have ordered take out and the food is fabulous. Their fresca pizza is loaded with fresh zucchini, onions and tomatoes on a very thin crust and it's delicious. The heroes (sausage and peppers and the meatball) are very good. We got a Neapolitan pizza with sausage and mushrooms and it was perfect. Their spinach eppy is also very tasty. Where to begin? I just wish I had looked at the reviews before we went in. I would have saved us from having a really bad experience and $65. I first walk in and am asked "what am I going to order?" I state I do not know, this is our first time here. We uttered dinners and maybe pizza. We are told that dinner is in the dining room and only personal pizza is in the dining room. Huh? So we are forced to sit on the pizza side of the restaurant. I say, lets leave, but the kids were hungry. Okay we stay. Nice waitress, good service, excellent calamari. Next a woman comes in and gets the same greeting. It is amazing how I can see the customer smiles go to puzzled frowns from where I was sitting. She leaves without ordering. A few more customers come in, same frown and puzzled looks. Salads were good, the rest took a long time. Meanwhile bread comes and due to two big napkin dispensers in the middle of the table, there is very little room. Also on the table is a plastic stand listing wines? Seemed on the wrong side seeing as this area was pizza. Chicken parm dinner comes and it is not very hot, definitely made in advance and not heated through. Other dinner ordered was carbonara, not bad according to husband. No room so I put it on top of the napkin holders. I go over to speak with the owner to give feedback. No one wants to see a restaurant lose customers this way. I tell him our experience, not even mentioning the food issues. He apologizes and says the staff will be retrained. He was unaware of this. I said you have enough business that you can separate people this way, he said yes. Okay its his place. I think it is a mistake. The dining room was huge and also empty. Due to the experience I will not return. I can follow a recipe and be happier. Also the cooks at the ovens were on their phone several times, not a good thing to see. I hate to give restaurants such a low rating but tonight's experience was AWFUL. I have been to this restaurant many times and usually the food and service is great. Tonight it took over an hour to get an appetizer. We ordered the fried zucchini. Which again is normally good. Tonight it looked like the cook rushed it and did not alive the zucchini thing, it was very thick. Also it was not fried all the way and the zucchini was still hard. Then for our main courses we ordered the chicken topped with eggplant and mozz cheese, and I had chicken parm with vodka sauce. So my chicken parm did not come with spigetti instead it was penne that was still hard. And the chicken was over fried. The biggest deal breaker was the bill. So the bill charged a dollar more per meal. When questioned we were told the menus were never updated and next time to tell the waiter when we order so they can do it as an open item and charge less. That is horrible business practice you should not give the menus out if the prices are off. The owner is the same man who drove boccis in Monroe into the ground. It will be the same if he does that to this restaurant as well! Everyone please check your bills before paying!!! read more

Consistently Good. On each occasion quality of service and food are above average. Of particular note is that the management had the consideration of offering gluten free items on the menu (that pasta was outstanding no matter the sauce). Most times a delay in serving occurs, possibly understaffed, but they acknowledge it and try to be more attentive thereafter. (Hence the four instead of five star rating.) it is certainly worth the sit. Fish is always done to the right degree. Salads fresh and entrees in good portion size make going here a fulfilling evening out. read more

I will start by saying something positive and that is that in our town, excluding plain slices, if you want a specialty slice like buffalo chicken or a grandma slice this is the best place although a bit expensive. That said, everything else is priced through the ROOF. I have been frequenting this establishment since they opened, including expensive dine in dinners with multiple family members. This last experience was the nail in the coffin... I ordered delivery a Veal Parm dinner and a caesar side salad in addition to the house salad included in the abysmal price of the dinner. When it arrived I was shocked at the almost 34 dollar receipt plus tip. 7.50 for a Caesar side salad that is the same size as the included house salad and consists of nothing more than a handful of romaine lettuce, about 8 croutons, and 4-5 shavings of parmesan cheese. That is RIDICULOUS! I can get a small caesar WITH grilled chicken from a comparable place for the same price. A caesar salad that is made at your table in NYC with fresh dressing may warrant that price or a little more but not for bottled dressing and what is served here. Leaving the salad now lets address the almost 20% price increase on the veal parm dinner. I was charged 22.95 for 2.5 veal cutlets and spaghetti. Don't get me wrong I'm not ignorant to the fact that ordering in can be more expensive than cooking at home but for 25 dollars I can get two pounds of veal cutlets! None of this adds up to the fact that I called to confirm what I was charged, but the owner, who I have met, spoken to many times and still acts like he doesn't know who I am didn't offer anything outside of "it is what it is" on the phone. You're bananas if you keep going here, for the pricing just go to La Vera Cucina which is actually CHEAPER and way higher quality. I hate to even spend my valuable time writing this but I;ve had it. I will miss the buffalo chicken slices but that's it. If you want a better pizza joint drive a mile down the road, I get the exact opposite treatment at KD Pizza which has better pies and they actually have a personality and value their customers. read more

My husband and I went here on Sunday for dinner . the place itself look very clean and the waitress was very pleasant . We ordered fried calamari when they first brought it out it had hair in it so we returned it and when we got the second try it was very good. We ordered chicken parm and eggplant parm. The chicken was dry and the eggplant was just horrible. I'm not sure if it was dirty oil or just spoiled but when we left I sent the whole plate back. We will not being going back here. read more

Stopped in on Sunday, right at the noon opening time. We were greeted, seated, and served by a young woman who provided excellent service throughout. Food included various appetizers, salads, and a customized pizza. Food quality was superb. Salads were fresh and delicious. Portions sizes were excellent for both side salads and main entrees. White pizza with chicken and broccoli was exactly what we had hoped for -- thin crust, excellent cheese ratio, and fresh and light. Three generations enjoyed their meal and we will be back again. It is so sad and unfortunate that bad management will be the reason why I no longer frequent this restaurant. The food here is good, no complaints regarding the cooks in the back...excellent job.My issue is with the owner(s). I had a bad experience once and then gave them a second chance to redeem themselves but bad customer service again reared its ugly head. The first issue I had was the delivery of catered trays of food. They delivered the wrong pasta. I went the next day and spoke to the owner who I had ordered from and received no apology, not even an acknowledgement that they made a mistake. I was treated rudely and was told I probably made the mistake. The next time I ordered dinner for family and instead of a hot antipasta that was clearly written on the order attached to the food, they delivered a cold antipasta. Same response. Rude owner who yelled ' "we're busy' when I called and said, "call later when we are closing!" and hung up. No apology again and no mention of a credit since his cold antipasta was cheaper than the hot one I had prepaid! Bad service from the person who took the order and bad customer service from this 'owner' has made me go elsewhere. Shame on them. read more

I have had many grilled vegetable salads in several restaurants in Orange County but none compare to the one Villa Positano serves. The vegetables are served warm ( grilled chicken can be added and is NOT overdone and dry)and the balsamic dressing that it is served with is amazing. I have had the opportunity to dine here twice this week and on both occasions ordered the salad -it was superb both times. Would recommend it very highly, in case you couldn't tell. read more

I've been here before and enjoyed the food and service. I don't know what happened tonight, lack of staff, not sure, but it would have been nice to know in advance. First of all, there were 6 of us; 4 adults and 2 one year olds. We got there at 6pm and were seated right away... at 7pm- SEVEN, the waitress comes over and tells me that they were out of meatballs. First, what Italian place runs out of MEATBALLS? And 2) 7pm, it's been an HOUR since we were seated, we have 2 tiny kids and NOW you're telling me you don't have what I ordered for them? Fine, let's do ravioli for the kids instead. Finally an hour and 10 minutes after we got there, the food shows up. The kids meal is obviously not expected to be huge, but we had gotten the ravioli and I swear to God we got a plate with THREE RAVIOLI on it. THREE. Like, not 3 huge ravioli, 3 the size of store bought out of the bag regular ravioli. I'm guessing the standard kids are like 5-8 years old ordering off this menu... how would that EVER fill someone that age up? That's not enough to fill up my one year old! My husband actually got up and walked to Stop & Shop and bought them food pouches so they had something to eat. Now for the adults, I got veal parm & chicken parm was also ordered. We both agreed they were super light on the sauce, like, it was eating plain pasta, gross. And lastly... after waiting an hour and 10 minutes for our food... not even 10 minutes after the food shows up and I was actively eating, the waitress came over and asked if we wanted it wrapped up or were we still working on it. We all had completely full plates of food.... seriously??? The entire experience was a joke and it was SO disappointing. It's unbelievable that people don't like the food here. I went with the family last week and was treated to an incredible meal with great service. The front is basically a pizza joint. Their bar area is very nice with a couple of TV's. The rear is the restaurant which is a really well designed, upscale room. We got the baked clams and they were delicious, although a little smaller than I would have liked. Salads were great but they really need to offer some dressings beside the creamy variety. Kids had pizza and it was very good. Not the best but very good. I had the Chicken Neopolitana which was incredible. My son had the fettuccine alfredo as well which was well prepared. Overall the food was really well prepared and they seem to have a good grasp on their business. It may be actually 4 stars but I can't believe anybody would give this 1 star. If you are looking for huge servings at a cheap price, this is not the place. If you are willing to pay for top quality food, you really need to check this place out. read more

Extremely expensive ! Had a last min plan to get pizza for dinner and two pies, nothing crazy ... half cheese half pepperoni on one and chicken on the other... almost $45 out the door. Nothing else! Just two pizzas ... so disappointed ! I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The pizza was OK but no where near $45 dollars, I was able to get specialty pizzas from other local establishments in the area at a fraction of the cost. The food quality is top notch. We like the grandma pie because the sauce is so tasty and everything is fresh. Chicken parm is good too. Items for delivery are packaged separately so they don't get soggy. People complain about the price but I guess we would eat at McDonald's if we wanted a dollar menu. read more
