The house is new, nice rooms, well equipped and has a charming atmosphere. We got a lot of information by Ann and Denis about the area around and hints to see the best points of interest.

We ended up here because our room across the street at Pensino Urumea was only available for one…read morenight and we wanted two. Pension Donostiarra is a very adequate hotel. The room was clean and large enough, the view from the balcony was great and the location was excellent. While not as spit and polish as Urumea we enjoyed our stay at Donostiarra. Donostiarra offers a common room with hot pot with tea selection, several tables and chairs and a tv. This is great for groups to get together outside their rooms. We felt the value received was well worth staying here. We will be back.

The room had many more amenities than I expected: full bathroom, a/c, tv, large closet, extra chairs. It was clean, stayed cool despite the heat wave, and quiet. It was just a few blocks from the beach, as well as the touristy parts of the town. This Pension was definitely a great value and will stay here again when I return.

How cute isn't this little place!…read more Arguibel is a Boutique B&B / tiny very personal hotel in Guéthary just south of Biarritz. The building is in white and red, like most classic Basque villas in this picturesque area, and it's surrounded by green fields. Walking down to the beach takes around 20 minutes. If you drive it takes 5. François, the friendly owner of Arguibel - who I think is the man behind the interior design (which is truly charming) - also mentioned that he has a few bikes if you feel like borrowing them. If you love riding bikes uphill, you could in theory go to Biarritz on a bike, but I would never do it. Going by car to Biarritz takes 20 minutes. (The cost for a cab one way is 15-30€ depending on if the driver charge both ways or not. Confusing.) We had booked room 63 and was very happy with it. Great products (shower gel etc) too. At least one of the days you're staying at Arguibel, you have to try their breakfast. It's 16€ per person, beautiful and huge. French but huge. You will understand what I mean when you see it. Arguibel is also within walking distance from Guéthary's two 1 star Guide Michelin restaurants. We had the weekday lunch menu at Briketenia (35€) and it was a m a z i n g. I'm super happy with choosing to stay in Guéthary instead of Biarritz.
