My friend and native of Sao Paulo took me here while I was visiting Brazil for the World Cup in June. She is a fan of American country music and knew I was, too. This place is fun. It's definitely an experience for a traveler. The interior is made to resemble an old US western town, really more like a western movie set. They have a basic menu of Brazilian style sandwiches, which to me were tasty but I had no reference in which to compare of course. As an American traveling to Brazil, I of course must order caiprinhas no matter where I go. Villas Country's were pre-made with some sort of bottled cairpinha mixture. I recommend you suppress your tourist inclination to these and go for a beer or other cocktail.
The dance hall had line dancing to a DJ before the live band came on. It was a lively scene with many dancers and many more others just hanging out. The problem I had was the selection of country music were of songs I'd never heard of. They were American country songs, but more from unknown artists or the back of the album. So there would be no dancing for me, just watching.
The live band came on and did covers of many popular songs, with a pronounced Brazilian accent. To me, this just added charm to the whole experience. The band was huge with full instrument set, lead vocalist, back up singers, plus extra dancers.
If you're up for a cross functional experience, and don't care if the drinks aren't awesome and the music isn't like back home, then check Villa Country out when you're Sao Paulo. read more
