What a great find! A metro train ride to the west of Milan, this is a large, open park with…read morevolleyball courts, soccer fields, even an American football field. On a warm spring day, lots of people were out picnicking, some with their grills. Kids were playing and couples out for walks.
Not at all like the large park in the middle of Milan, this is more open, more suburban. We hopped on the red line and exited at the Bonola station. Turning to our right, we made a U-turn and followed the bike path past the apartment buildings. Just past the apartments, we turned left and followed a foot path that runs parallel, directly to the park.
There are plenty of paths for walking or bike riding. Lots of open spaces for sports or for spreading a blanket and enjoying the sun or a meal. A few trees dot the park as well offering an oasis from a hot sun. The 'little widow' water fountains dot the park as well so bring your empty water bottle to fill. A few porta-potties are also available for public use. There are a couple of places to buy a snack on the outskirts of the park
Because the park in out of the metropolitan, inner area of Milan, it offers a quiet, pleasant expanse, to enjoy a day on the grass. Something that is lacking in the cobble stoned, city center, where we live.
