We stayed in a room in the new wing, yet there are stains on the carpet as mentioned by some visitors.The energy-saving, not-too-flexible aircon system was not working too well during the recent heat wave that hit France. The gym is rudimentary, but then perhaps most guests who come here don't bother about fitness. The swimming pool is set among beautiful, mature trees, yet it is not well cleaned: even with anti-fogging goggles, be careful not to hit other swimmers if your head is under water too long! We didn't have dinner, only breakfast; the terrace is beautiful and peaceful, whereas the low-ceiling inside is a bit claustrophobic (but charming - well, it is 'Les Voûtes'!) The waiters were friendly and knowledgable about the food. They were flexible, interested and quick to react, although to my experience a bit over the top. What I really liked is that they had no english menu or tourist geared dishes, but at the same time were flexible enough to explain everything. We had a 3 course meal with various dishes (from fish to meat) and all were excellent and in line with pricing (which was not cheap). It was a warm evening and we were happy to sit in the garden. Artichoke soup, Pea mousse (cold) and lamb were to be recommended, the chicken was too dry and not really inspiring. For dessert, I'd either recommend the Friandises with coffee (finally some good coffee at a good restaurant) or strawberries with cream (someone at another table had then and they looked delicious). All in all, fantastic experience if you can spend the buck and aim to avoid the tourist crowds in Lourmarin.

It's a winery estate, with 22 rooms, a vineyard, an outdoor pool, and was originally a Working estate and home. It feels like a haven, with beautiful gardens and grounds, with walking paths and fountains, you hardly need to leave because it also has two restaurants on site, one a casual bistro, the other a stunning Michelin star rated restaurant. There is a full bar as well, and a lovely library for rainy afternoon relaxation. The majority of the employees speak English perfectly, but will entertain my poor attempts to engage in French. The hotel rooms are seriously like walking into a page from Restoration Hardware, the decode is elegant, the beds are comfortable (actual king size!) and they even pipe scents in throughout the hotel which are classy, understated, and leave you subtly sniffing around for the next Whig of something awesome. They also have a VERY small gym with some light dumbbells and cardio equipment, and a coed steam room. Anything you could want is here, with style and service beyond expectations.

But their restaurant "gastronomic" is no good. Their wines and spirits are superior but their cooked dishes are seriously lacking. It's not going to get Michelin Star but it won't leave you terribly angry either--- you'll just have regret you wasted your calorie intake on something subpar.
