My church shopping path has taken me to Eastlake, Canyon Hills, City, Four Square, and all of the other mid to large sized Christian churches on the eastside. I've always been part of a larger congregation but just wasn't able to ever really feel at home in the local churches I visited. They were all great churches with amazing people... I just didn't quite fit in. This past summer I decided to take the plunge with Imprint right as they were getting started up. If you've never been part of a church plant (which I hadn't), I can tell you that the energy and excitement makes for a whole new experience. Every person counts and everyone's talents are needed to help the church take flight. Instead of being an anonymous guy in the crowd each Sunday, I feel like I've already got a role in helping Imprint to make it in Woodinville. Darren Larson is the pastor at this church. He's a real down to earth guy and teaches with a gentleness that I think a lot of people will find appealing. His vision for the church is to be known more for our generosity as a church than anything else. With all of the politics and other noise getting mixed into different churches I appreciate the idea of simply focusing on how we can make our community a better place to live by using the example of Christ's love. Small churches aren't for everyone, but if you're looking to shake things up and try something new I feel comfortable recommending Imprint for a Sunday visit.

They work hard to pick worship songs that reflect the word as well. And my son loves the student ministries. This summer the youth group did a serving outreach weekend as their summer camp, which we absolutely loved! This is not a church to become a consumer in, but a church to become and active member in serving and being the body of Christ. We are grateful after moving up here to Washington and leaving our family and church family behind, to have found a new church family to call home up here.

After parking, when I was going to get out of the car it sounded like someone was playing a loud car stereo in the parking lot. But when I got out, I realized the sound was coming out of the church. I went inside and could not go in the darkened stage-like sanctuary because it was too painfully loud. I thought that I might wait in the lobby (where it was still very loud) until the preaching started, but the music went on until 10:40 and at that point I decided that this church would not be a good place for me to attend because I would not be able to ever join the in worship part of the service. So I left. On the plus side, the greeters here are very friendly and the building and grounds are nice. This would probably make a nice church for those who are not concerned about receiving hearing damage.

A fun tunnel, train to see, snow falling, free cookies and cocoa, a playground, and little area to walk, PLUS the actual show! So much fun we will return for other years! The music is phenomenal with many instruments and lighting effects. They of course read from scripture too. I'd say they balance it well between singing and preaching. Plenty of seating. The place is huge. Used to be a school before it became a church. There is also a nice coffee shop inside. The daycare has more than one section depending on the age range. Parking is great and in front and behind the building. There are 3 entrances on 3 sides of the building. You can enter from whichever one depending on where you parked.

1) This church has terrible real communication: mostly advertising…read more 2) Jay, the senior pastor, is not all that intelligent and says really dumb things when he tries to elaborate on The Word. He is not published, nor is he very caring about his congregants in terms of his outreach to them. He has never even greeted them at the door as people enter or exit in my years of experience. Nor can he be bothered to go into the seat rows to pray for those at service who can't get to the alter: his overemphasis is them coming down front: showmanship vs. genuine concern for elderly and disabled. Also, he knocked up the prior senior pastor's daughter out of wedlock, but married her, and now she gets a paycheck from the church as do his daughters and one's husband. 3) The church does care A LOT about money, and makes poor choices on how to spend it. Food, fun and decorating are often overdone compared to serious service to the poor or towards community evangelism. You will be asked to give more than just your tithes during service each week: to missions not run by the church, for $ thank you gifts to pastors in the fall and at Christmas etc.*, to the school, to women who travel in winter to sunny Belize for site seeing and a "mission trip" and on, and on. (*They will not tell you the salaries and benefits paid to the pastors.) Cedar Park Church does use the Bible in services, which is good. Pray for their leadership and whoever the mysterious deacons/elders are! I am headed elsewhere and the wife, too.

I walked into Mars Hill Church in 2004 when there was only one location, in Ballard. (Actually my…read morewife drug me there, grumbling under my breath, ready to dismiss it the same way I had dismissed all the previous churches she had dragged me to. My history includes being raised in a religious home, believing I had to earn God's love... and ultimately giving up, converting to 'born again heathen'.) I heard the bible being taught, in context (as written, even the parts I didn't like) and Jesus proclaimed as God, sovereign over all. I came to saving faith in Jesus there. Not because of a particular pastor or leader, but because I heard the Word of God. I had not heard this in any other church, probably because I wasn't willing to listen, but also because too many churches fail to teach the bible. Ultimately, I believe God gave me the desire to listen, I don't get the credit. Since moving from Seattle to the Bothell area, Mars Hill Shoreline is closer. My mother in-law and a niece attend with us. Some will be offended by what is taught here: Jesus is God (we are not). The bible was authored by God, and perfect as originally written. The bible is about Jesus. The bible is not about us, it's for us. We are all sinners (rebels against God, trying to be our own god). Jesus loves us so much that He lived the life each of us should have lived, died the death we each deserve, rose from death on the third day conquering Satan, sin, death and the wrath of God so that He could give us His righteousness and make it possible to stand before a Holy and righteous God. Being a Christian is not about obeying a bunch of rules so that God will love us. Being a Christian is about accepting the love God has for us and the new desires He offers us, so that we want to live our lives as He intended. Sinners are welcome here, with the hope that Jesus will give them new desires, new identity and new life.
