Steve, the owner, is the "Rain Man" of movies. He is a walking encyclopedia of old movies and recent releases. This is what you wish Netflix could do: talk to you and ask a few questions about what you like or what you're in the mood for and then give a recommendation that is Right On The Money!!! Really, really wanted to frequent this family owned business but the prices are way too high! I just can't bring myself to pay $4 for a new release rental and I think $3 or $3.50 for an older movie. Sure, when the only option was to rent movies from a store the higher pricing was understandable but now that folks can go down the street and get a new release for $1.75, it just doesn't make sense. I rather support local businesses but not when the pricing is so non-competitive. The guy at the counter was really friendly and there was a HUGE movie selection. Wish they would bring their prices down because it's still 1990 prices. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! The owners are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I go in wanting a movie but not knowing what I want to see sometimes. They'll help me pick a variety of movies based on what I'm in the mood for. I've noticed when it's a busy holiday weekend in Tahoe, some businesses actually get irritated at the customer because the establishment is either understaffed or maybe the employees aren't good at handling large volumes of people at one time.
