Phillip is a master at his craft (LAW) he responded with detail and strength he kept us apprised of our case and calmed all our fears. We believe that if it had not been for Phillip we would have had to pay a huge sum of money. We not only have gained a trusted reliable lawyer but a true friend I recommend Phillip Diamond of The Lerman Law Group for all your legal matters Superman will get the job done.

It is an emotional, frightening process but Phil will floor you with his meticulous preparation and attention to detail throughout your path to resolution, and it's remarkable for your representative to actually have such an elevated bedside manner, too-- we needed it, and upon resolution of the matter we consider him a friend. He's been around the block-- you'll receive incredible insight into likely options and phases of the process, and it meant the world to us to be able to have some expectations set as we sailed into foreign waters. We marveled at the quality of his communications with us and the other party, and he brings exemplary advocacy for your interests, with a wealth of stunningly clever and wise protections that will preserve your rights and seek only fair, advantageous compromises (if amicable closure is what you seek, that is... I wager if we'd wanted to draw out a protracted battle that Phil would've been the bulldog you'd always hoped to have in your corner). We can't recommend him highly enough, and welcome inquiries on his behalf if that would help your decision.

We had put this off for over 13 years because it felt overwhelming and complicated. Amir made the entire process incredibly straightforward, efficient, and surprisingly painless. He explained everything clearly, kept us on track, and handled the details seamlessly. If I had known how easy he would make this, we would have done it years ago. I'm so grateful to finally have this taken care of and highly recommend working with him if you've been putting it off like we were.

He uses a service that provides four types of trusts, and he explains the difference between each one in simple terms. We had a trust and all of the related documents completed by the top firm in the area. Upon an independent review, one issue was pointed out to us. The firm that had been working with us was swamped so, based on all of Amir's reviews, we decided to have him make the revisions. We told him why we were there and that we would have his documents reviewed before we signed. He was given the existing documents and told the points that were especially important to us and the part that we wanted changed. We got a draft very quickly. Great turnaround. But, he missed some key points. It was also frustrating that he sent them in a format that couldn't be converted to Word or PDF and set the link to expire in 5 days. When asked about it, he said it was the platform and necessary due to the size. First, I edit books and size isn't the issue. Second, we checked on the platform and the user controls the parameters. We finally got the documents printed and hand wrote notes on them. We were irritated and frustrated by how little attention he paid to our requests to port over sections from the existing trust. He was hurt by our comments. For someone with his CV, I would expect him to know that business is not personal. But, he wanted us to apologize in order to move forward. Because he appears wedded to his forms, he didn't draft the sections that we specifically requested up front. When we pointed it out several times, he asked us to write it. What we wanted was not unusual or difficult, but it didn't fit his forms. He couldn't copy it from the existing trust. That was mind blowing given how many hours he billed us for reading our trust. When the documents were finally at a stage where we were satisfied, we told him that we were sending them for independent review, as we had previously stated. This seemed to upset him. Two last issues: first, my husband thought he was sexist and dismissive of me. I am used to men looking at other men when answering my questions, so I didn't notice it. Second, I wanted to pay via electronic payment. Amir said he took Zelle. I accessed the app and asked him to put in his information. I asked him to double check it. My bank sets a limit on daily transactions. He said that was because of my credit score--others had higher limits. I took affront to this. My credit score is great. I sent the money to the info he provided. It bounced. I had to work with the bank to unwind the transaction. I asked Amir to send me his Zelle QR code. Instead, he sent not one but two demands for the full amount to my Zelle account. Since a Zelle demand for payment in excess of the bank's limit cannot be made, I had to reject both. I tried to send him a payment for the allowed amount, but the flagged his request and my attempts to pay him as fraud and froze my account. Because Amir refused to follow simple instructions, I had to spend hours with bank fraud investigators to have my account restored and verified. I have had my account at the same bank since I was in kindergarten and we were encouraged to save. My husband was counsel for banks and has banked there even longer than I have. Because we have joint accounts, his were frozen. This meant that our quarterly tax payment, health insurance, and other vital payments were being held. All in, Amir turned out documents quickly. Was pricey compared to the firm we regularly used, and appeared to struggle with either taking directions from a woman, or drafting documents and following instructions.

Her free workshop/seminar was sooo well worth it. Did I mention FREE? Even if you don't decide to use her or get your act together sooner than later with someone else, you will walk away learning something. This attorney rents out the Little Gym in Sausalito/Marin City & hires a sitter if you've got kids, so you can be engaged in her presentation without worrying about the tykes. (There were even yummy sandwiches, fruit & drinks catered. The way to this girl's heart is definitely through her belly!) If you choose to set up an appointment with Thea for a private consultation, you can get a coupon at the workshop. Check out: http://thealaw.com/ to see her next upcoming FREE events. Thea is a "real" person as is all of her staff I've met or talked to over the phone. She listens & isn't charging you by the hour, so you don't feel like you've got to rush. After all, you're discussing one of the most grown-up things you'll ever do. You shouldn't have to feel hurried making such big decisions. At least go to the seminar if nothing else, but I'll be surprised if you don't trust your estate planning (& more!) to this Law Office.

Since the 2 stars (which equates to the "[service] could've been better") were due to the unprofessionalism and inattentiveness shown (not due to her being an LDA), I have no reason to change my rating or delete my review. TL;DR: Marizen is NOT a lawyer. She is a Legal Document Assistant that cannot provide you with legal advice. She is a significantly affordable option for a Living Trust but she is unprofessional and has poor attention to detail-- key characteristics that are paramount to detailing an important document. Details: I left a Living Trust inquiry via her site and Marizen emailed me back within 1 day to "text" her back for a scheduled over-the-phone consult. Upon speaking with Marizen it was clear she did not take the time to review the few questions I had sent her in my initial inquiry as she was confused as to what the consult would primarily be regarding. Her rates were significantly less than what other competing services were offering which raised an orange flag for me. Upon further research, I realized Marizen was NOT a lawyer, but rather a "Legal Document Assistant (LDA)." According to the CA Attorney General, LDAs cannot give legal advice. This was my first encounter with an LDA, which allowed me the opportunity to do the necessary research to make a more educated investment. Had Marizen gotten back to me with the necessary next steps and questionnaire as she had promised (it's been over 1.5 weeks), I may have considered her as a possible option to complete my Living Trust needs. But if you are looking for a more affordable option, perhaps Marizen is a good fit for you.
