My story is too long to tell. All I can say is run to get your pet to this amazing practice and Dr Tucci. The staff are amazing and love the animals deeply and work tirelessly in service to them. There are so many takeovers now from corporate companies that use vets as a money printing machine. This practice is literally the opposite of that. I cant say enough about how much they have helped me feel better along with the cats. I wish the whole world did business like these folks, with the efficient and caring front lines to the runners in the back, the place is always humming with real pets and top notch care. After my Keys vets had been unsuccessfully treating my dog's eye for redness for 2 weeks, they suggested I take her to Dr. Tucci. The appointment was for 5 days later. We arrived on time for the appointment, but Dr. Tucci had an emergency & was running very late. Her office staff kept saying "just a few more minutes," which was not true. I wish they had been honest about the unplanned wait. Once Dr. Tucci saw my girl and examined her eye, she didn't pull any punches. She straight forward diagnosed my 7 yr old pit with stage 5 Lymphoma. She then spent the next 2 hours thoroughly going over my girl, reading her medical history and explaining everything to me. She took out a medical book and showed the stages of lymphoma. I was destroyed by the diagnosis, but thought Dr. Tucci could not have been more professional, thorough and compassionate. To say Dr. Teresa Tucci and her staff are the best in town is an understatement. We came across Veterinary Specialists many years ago. Dr. Tucci first treated and successfully operated cataracts on my mother's dog a diabetic, weak and delicate Schnauzer called Sparky, 7 years ago. It was since then we knew she was a magnificently talented and gifted Ophthalmologist specialist. As luck would have it, my baby, a ten year old French bulldog named Lulu would need her services again. We came to treat and examine what we assumed was a persistent ulcer in her left eye. Only to realize Lulu had many other impending and pressing health issues. Dr. Tucci went on and beyond her call of duty to lovingly treat and address everything Lulu showed needed attention. I was taken back on the treatment my pet and I received. This was hands down the best experience and service we've ever been given, and Lulu visited veterinarian clinics several times a year. It turned out Lulu had more than what we could fix, but I will mention with my heart on my sleeve, that Dr. Tucci gave it her all until the last second to fight for my baby's life. The staff at this location has truly touch my family and I's heart. There are no words that will ever express the gratitude and fulfillment we felt entrusting our loving, perfect little angel to them. I have a 250 pound English Mastiff (Nala) that is extremely shy and submissive. She had a "skin tag" on her eyelid which was irritating the eye itself and needed to be removed. In the past Nala had total meltdowns going in to see Vets for various issues that were not life-threatening, so I worried that she might go into yet another panic attack once I brought her in to Dr. Tucci's office. Dr. Tucci was willing and did a small surgical procedure in the back of Nala's Minivan (where she felt safe), and her staff helping out were so attentive, and so gentle with her!! They got the procedure done in the Minivan in front of her office!! How many Vets will do that??!! I am in total awe and so very grateful that the team went above and beyond to adhere to the issues of a timid, scared giant. Dr. Tucci has an attitude of "we will do it however it needs to be done". Today marked my third visit to this practice. They were recommended by my regular veterinarian, as my Persian cat Callie has eye problems, and needed to see an ophthalmologist. The ophthalmologist on staff is Dr Tucci. She is warm, caring, professional, and knowledgable. On the visit prior to this one, she told me that Callie might need a rather pricey eye surgery. I let her know that financially this would be a difficult time as I was experiencing health issues of my own, and working fewer hours. She was very understanding and mentioned that we would try conservative treatment first and see what happens. Towards the end of that visit, I mentioned that my other cat Caitlyn also needed to see her and showed her photos of Caitlyn's eye. I was shocked when she told me not to worry about the fees, and to bring Caitlyn in when I brought Callie back for her follow-up visit. Today, I went back with Callie and Caitlyn, and as promised, she examined Caitlyn and didn't charge me. She also told me that Callie's eye had healed nicely and wouldn't require surgical intervention at this time. I was elated. I am very touched by Dr. Tucci's generosity, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this practice. The front desk staff, and the veterinary assistants are also very nice and helpful. Dr Tucci is the epitome of what any Doctor should be - Animal or Human!! Do not even hesitate to bring your beloved pet here, they will be very well cared for! I first have to say that I never dreamed of finding such an amazing and caring dog Ophthalmologist in Miami, and never thought in Homestead! Dr Tucci and her staff were not only understanding of my own anxiety but also understood the urgency of my dogs need! I went understanding that maybe my dog had pink eye or something else. But as soon as Dr Tucci saw her and explained the seriousness of her condition, she IMMEDIATELY took action to control the high elevation in pressure that had happened in my dogs eye. Dr Tucci was able to bring her eye pressure down and was able to control the Glaucoma. Even though my dog is predisposed, Dr Tucci worked with me and my dog for two months to try to save her eye and avoid surgery. I appreciate so much that she is adverse to jumping right in and doing surgery and only if it is a last resort. I have never felt so completely at ease and at peace with a Doctor (even my own!). My dog had a treatment with Dr. Tucci that required her to have sedation, I Paid $661.00 for treatment and medications and she ALMOST DIED!!! When i went to pick my dog up, Dr. Tucci was on her way out to go home and told me the dog was doing fine and that everything went well. When i went inside to pick up my dog, she was really disorientated and panting very hard. I figured it was because of the sedation and left. I didn't make it half a mile up the road before i came back with her because she was just panting so hard i was scared. The Tech that was there looked at her and said her color was fine and sent me home. Again i made it about half a mile up the road and by this point my dog was whining and was in total distress!!! I brought her back and the tech tried walking her outside and was recording her to show the doctor. by the time they brought her inside, she couldn't stand anymore! They took her temperature and it was 106!!!!! That's a fatal temperature!!! so they put her in water and stabilized her temperature. I basically had to beg the doctor to come back and when she did, they did blood work to check for damage from the fever. I went home with the dog that night and everything was going well. Monday morning i bring her in for check up, and the receptionist tells me i owe $337.00 for an emergency office visit, blood work and a slew of other charges from that day! when i confronted the doctor about it, she got all defensive and acted as if she was DOING ME A FAVOR by coming back to see my dog!!!! are you kidding me?! She was released to me in an unstable condition! How dare she?!?! she was very unprofessional and was yelling and cursing at me and everything! she is money hungry and will try to take advantage of you financially!!! She ended up telling me that i didn't have to pay it after she basically insulted me, cursed and screamed at me, and stormed off into the back room! But she knew she was wrong...... She just isn't big enough to admit it! I don't think she would purposely hurt my dog, but obviously something slipped through the cracks and my dog almost died because of it! The least she could do is accept responsibility for the fact that something happened while the dog was in her office's care and been more compassionate! I'm shocked that she would have the audacity to try and hit me up with those crazy charges. Be very careful and pay attention to your bills if you come to this office! She will try to squeeze you for everything she can! SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!! read more

We brought in our dog Arthur to Dr Tucci after searching online for an optometrist. Arthur went blind due to being diabetic and old. It was killing us seeing our loved pet not being able to see us, walking into doors and not being able to see his food just to name some of the many things that were going on with him. We went into the appointment and the doctor explained our options and we decided to operate him. The surgery was a success and Arthur's vision came back. I don't have enough words to describe how amazing Dr.Tucci is along with all her staff. She truly cares for the animals and IT SHOWS in her work. I had taken my doggy to her after having his eye rupture from a corneal ulcer. Desperate and scared, we came to her after our first opinion from another eye specialist who flat out said to us his eye needed to be removed after looking at it for 30 seconds. I left there in tears as I felt like they were not even trying to assist us and rather just take the easy way out by removing his eye. Finally got to Dr.Tucci thanks to a recommendation from my local veterinary clinic and immediately noticed a difference. Everyone was so sweet with my poor boy even though he was not being so sweet due to the horrible pain. She and all her staff were so kind and personable. When she examined him she let us know he still had vision in the damaged eye. He could still see!! Something that the other vet did not even mention. She assured me that she would be able to save his eye and he went into surgery that same day. I couldn't believe the difference in what I was hearing. Her heart and soul is in the right place and truly has the animals best interest at heart. She was able to save my babies vision and today he still has both of his eyes thanks to her. There isn't a vet I trust more with my dogs life than Dr. Tucci. My baby has been a patient of this clinic since she was six months old, that is eight years that I have driven an hour each way to take her to VSI. We have seen each and every doctor in this clinic at some point and have one of the largest files there and have never had a negative experience. Aura, the world's best vet tech has been there from the beginning and remembers when Carly was a baby, it speaks volumes to me about Dr. Tucci's character that she has such a loyal employee. Over the years Dr. Tucci has performed numerous procedures on Carly. In the beginning I was nervous about the anesthesia and how Carly would react, now I know that she wakes up from the anesthesia calm and happy. Dr. Tucci is very conservative with her treatment and it shows in how quickly Carly recovers. Last Saturday we had an emergency that was unrelated to ophthalmology but I needed to speak to a vet I trusted. Without hesitation I called the clinic's emergency number and woke both Aura and Dr. Tucci up at midnight. I was hysterical and my dog was screaming in pain in the background. Neither made a comment about me waking them over something they had no responsibility over and instead told me what to do. Like I said, this was for a condition that has nothing to do with VSI but in the middle of a crisis I needed Dr. Tucci's advise. The treatment plan Dr. Tucci gave me kept Carly's pain under control until Monday morning when I could get her to the appropriate specialist that confirmed we started the correct treatment. This is one of many stories I have where they have gone above and beyond in caring for my baby. Carly loves Dr. Tucci and has never showed any sign of fear going to the vet. From the bottom of my heart I can't thank Dr. Tucci enough for everything she has done to treat my baby, she is a truly a special person and the epitome of what every doctor should strive to be. Dr. Prosek saved my dog's life. If your pet has a heart condition he is the man to see. Not only is he a great doctor but he is a great person. He takes time to explain everything that is going on with your pet . I mean everything, he even drew me a diagram of the heart so I would have a better understanding of what was going on. Dr Tucci and her staff looked after my beautiful Doberman called Daisy for her whole life, I first met them she was a puppy and was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes since she came from a bad breeder. They became Daisy's guardian angels throughout her life as she was diagnosed with a thyroid problem, chronic active hepatitis, IBD, and even had to perform emergency surgery on her for an intestinal blockage. Without a doubt Dr Tucci and her staff are absolute examples of a professional and caring practice. Often out of normal surgery hours they were there for me and Daisy, without any complaint. Sadly Daisy passed away suddenly on 13th March this year, Dr Tucci and her staff were compassionate, and caring, even though she was not at the surgery when it happened, they stayed open, and helped me with her cremation arrangements and the urn for her ashes to be put in. Without them, I do not know what I would have done as I was absolutely heartbroken. I know for sure that Daisys life would have been much shorter had they not taken care of her, and we were extremely fortunate to have had Dr Tucci in our lives. I was blown away by Dr. Tucci - - My husband and I could not believe that we were so lucky to have found her so close to us in Homestead. Our shih-tzu was first seen by our regular veterinarian and we were told that she needed to see a specialist as soon as possible as right away after initial testing, she knew there was a major problem with our dog's eyes. She highly recommended Dr. Tucci and that we see her immediately. Dr. Tucci's office was able to squeeze us in as soon as possible - we had to wait for over an hour due to being squeezed in and emergency cases, but the trip and waiting were well worth it. Dr. Tucci was very honest and forthright with us. Her knowledge of our dog's condition was first rate; her skilled diagnosis was right on target. Our dog was diagnosed with severe meibomianitis; Dr. Tucci was honest and forthright with us; we were told that if we followed her instructions diligently we may be able to cure our dog's symptoms - and we would know within 2 weeks.. With a treatment of prednisone, antibiotic, hot compresses and eye drops, after 2 weeks, our dog's eye issues were practically nonexistent. Due to Dr. Tucci's knowledge, now after almost a month (we go back this week), we see no indication of any problem and her eyes look clearer and brighter than they have been for the past 4 years. If we hadn't had the guidance of Dr. Tucci, we feel our little shah-tzu would have lost her eye sight. We would highly recommend her to anyone. read more
