4 Paws Animal Clinic - Patiently waiting.... For treats?

4 Paws Animal Clinic

We recently moved from Miami to Orlando and I was very nervous about switching vets after being…read morewith the same one for 10 years. From the moment we walked into 4 Paws Animal Clinic, I knew we made the right choice. Dr. Bert was amazing -- thorough, patient, and incredibly kind. She took the time to really get to know Diesel, performed a very detailed exam, and answered all of my questions without making me feel rushed. That level of care meant so much to me. I also truly appreciate how calm and organized the clinic is. Not having a crowded lobby full of animals made such a difference for Diesel, who tends to get very anxious in those situations. In the past, we would have to wait in the car until called in, so this was such a refreshing experience. You can genuinely tell that everyone there cares deeply about animals and has a true passion for what they do. My only downside was the pricing of ProHeart. I've never paid more than $180 for the 12-month ProHeart injection for my 89lb dog with my previous vet in Miami, so being quoted $350 felt significantly higher than what I was used to especially he weighed less at 84lbs. That was the only surprise for me that was very unfortunate and resulted in me having to switch diesel to TriHeart. Overall, the experience, compassion, and quality of care were excellent, and we're very happy to have found them in Orlando. 5 Star Service/Quality Care 4 Star for Pricing

He usually hates going to the vet and gets anxious and trembles. The other vets used to take him to the back and give him his shots. At first he was a little anxious but they were so kind and gentle with him that he started to feel relaxed and comfortable. They also asked if we'd be ok giving him his shots in the room with us present and we were definitely fine with that. We look forward to going back and taking our little girl pug next. I highly recommend them.

The older lady who has an extremely aggressive non customer oriented attitude should not be in the business of working with humans or animals. I'm throughly confused how this establisment is even still operating. The entire outside of the business has large animal cages stacked on top of each other and the building is dilapidated. Honestly, the inside isn't much nicer. Needless to say, I will not be returning ever ever again!

We took her to another vet in the area ... an office in a beautiful building, making it appear to be a competent animal clinic. This vet gave us a grim report. They said our dog would most likely die as they had only ever seen a case of pneumonia as bad as our dog's one other time and that dog passed away. They recommended we send her immediately to an animal hospital in Gainesville. We decided against this action and wanted a second opinion, so we took her to Dr. Larkins. He evaluated our pup and said she would be fine... prescribed some medication and gave her a shot of something... and lo and behold ... our dog healed and she is now almost 4 years old ... the sweetest most loving and energetic dog ever. We will only ever talk our animals to Dr. Larkins no matter the appearance of his office building. His knowledge and care far surpass any pretty building. We pray he lives forever.

I do not recommend this clinic. While the lobby is clean, I have serious concerns about the care…read moreprovided in the back. I brought my dog in for an emergency after she dislocated her neck. They kept her overnight to apply a cast, which ended up covering her face and chest. After that, she began having difficulty breathing and developed a cold due to how freezing cold the clinic was. The following day, the nurse told me the runny nose was normal. However, it has been over a week, and my dog still can't smell, eat, or drink properly. I tried reaching out to Dr. Kara Knight (the neurologist) via phone and email, and she finally returned my call three days after the follow-up. She insisted that my dog wasn't sick and that the symptoms were due to the cast. I later took my dog to her primary vet in Los Angeles, where they confirmed she had a severe cold. Additionally, Dr. Knight diagnosed my puppy with a congenital issue, which I needed documentation for. Despite repeatedly asking her for this in writing (so I could share it with the breeder), she refused and told me to get it from another neurologist. I was charged $2,480, and unfortunately, my puppy's condition worsened after the visit. Ten days later, I deeply regret bringing her to this clinic. Dr. Kara Knight may be knowledgeable, but her bedside manner is lacking. She was very blunt, telling me my dog needed surgery or she would die from bending her neck. In contrast, the neurologist in Los Angeles gave us hope and explained that with 6-8 weeks of healing, scar tissue could naturally stabilize the neck. I'm not asking for false reassurance, but delivering bad news with compassion and kindness makes a difference--especially for pet owners in distress. Also, I spent two hours in a freezing exam room while hearing staff laughing and chatting casually in the back. For an emergency clinic, the atmosphere didn't feel urgent or attentive. This seems to be a common issue with large, well-known clinics--the more famous they get, the lower the quality of care.

I called the phone number and since I was a new patient, an automated message told me to fill out of form online. The next day, an appointment was booked. Thankfully, my vet also sent my dog's X-Rays and the surgeon specialist reviewed them and determined I needed to come sooner. I appreciate that they judged the necessity and were able to squeeze us in. The location was easy to find but be mindful it's pretty quick after coming off the highway. It was a busy road. The location was very clean. There was complimentary water and coffee! The waiting area had plenty of space. For me, that was a plus because my dog doesn't like being near other dogs. The appointment took less than an hour. We didn't wait long and everyone was extremely nice. I didn't meet the surgeon, but the woman I spoke with (I believe a vet assist? I'm sorry if she sees this!) she was very patient and answered all of my questions. I felt that my dog was loved and cared for. They even put cute little watermelons on my dog's bandages! My dog, a typical Chihuahua who is normally shaking the entire time, was returned to me being completely calm. That's how I can tell that they were gentle and kind to her! We have to go back in 2 months and I trust that she will be in good hands once again.

I received a check in text message the day before to confirm. She was clear about what I should bring for the appointment, including a large towel. The appointment went smoothly even though my dog was upset about the teeth cleaning. He is very fussy about his mouth, and we ended up having to wrap him up like a burrito. Although he was very excited during the whole procedure, Teresa was extremely calm and explained what she was doing and then, after finishing with descaling, she showed me how best to brush his teeth. There was a little bit of blood because his gums are swollen. This is due to his not liking his teeth being brushed when I do it. But I feel like I've learned some effective techniques from Teresa. I feel like she has a very thorough and caring attitude, and I look forward to continuing to patronize her establishment, even though my fussy dog probably would prefer his teeth all fall out lol. But in all seriousness, this is a price effective and gentle alternative to anesthetic teeth cleaning. TL/dr: highly recommended for regular maintenance of pet dental health

The way that this team of professionals sprang to action, walked us through everything that was happening while stabilizing her, and rushed her to surgery and managed this complex case afterward was nothing short of heroic.
