Took my dog here last summer and was not disappointed! My regular vet was not available , so I gave this place a call and they could see my little guy that afternoon. He's a small dog and he had hurt his back from jumping off and on my bed . Dr. Andino and her staff are wonderful ! They did all the necessary tests, updated him on all his shots , and fixed him up good as new ! With the proper medications and Dr. Andino's expertise , my dog got better in no time . Our cat had an infection on his arm from a bite wound. We called around asking for same day appointments and many were fully booked but luckily we found this place. The receptionist was very kind and so was the vet Dr. Zhang! They explained everything to us clearly and answered all of my questions. They told us how to drop him off and what the possible procedure options would be without pushing us to do things if we could not afford it. The prices are very reasonable and cheaper than going to an animal hospital. So incredibly happy to have found this place and highly recommend going here! read more

We have been bringing our dog Duke to Veterinary Care Group for a year now and we recently added a new puppy to our family, Penelope. As a side note, we initially applied for a pet plan with a local Banfield but we were unsatisfied with their services. We called Veterinary Care Group and asked to be squeezed in their schedule for a Saturday appointment. Their customer service is impeccable. We were immediately given a 9:30 slot understanding that there might be a wait between 9:30 and 11:30 which we appreciated because it was honest. I think as customers that's all we want, no sugarcoats. We came in at exactly 9:30 on a Saturday and was surprised that we were brought in immediately. Absolutely zero wait time. Dr Joseph Silverman and his assistant were an absolute dream team. He was thorough and took time to explain the injections he is giving. He was also gentle and seemed like he loved his job. Ok... when it comes to our pets we all know they are our little babies and we would protect them with our lives !! I was looking for a female vet only because my dog is afraid of men and the vet is already a stressful place for the pets as it is ... because of the pandemic all visits are pets only and the consultation is on the sidewalk ( totally understand ) I brought my 7 year old rescue in for her first vet visit as my dog ( I don't know her previous story ) and they took amazing care of her, I brought her in for a specific reason and the vet gave her a once over and actually pointed something else out to me that needed to be looked into which I'm very grateful that she checked her all out to see how she's doing overall . I have been there a couple of times so far and every time I call or go in the staff and the doctors are so unbelievably nice and friendly and cheerful and I can't imagine going anywhere else !! Of course there have been no real issues so I can't tell you that they did surgery on her and they saved her life or they did some crazy treatments on her and they were amazing and so far her needs have been met above and beyond ! Born and raised in Suffolk - I kept traveling back to Suffolk to bring my cat to the vet. Rush hour traffic would take over an hour. I was very hesitant to try new locations for my fur baby but going to VCG at Glen Oaks was the best decision I made for my sanity and for my cat. Dr. Andino and her team were so comforting and knowledgeable. I respect that she knew the cats limits (my cat is arthritic and is in pain) and did not want to irritate him anymore. Just based on that I can tell she is a genuine animal lover that puts their needs above all else. Horrible customer service after being given false information by Dr. Andino. Andino stated a medication could not be found at a pharmacy and is only provided online. Andino stated my pet needed this medication on the day the phone call was made and that we could not wait for shipment via online. Therefore, we would need to purchase it from their office. The medication was provided by my local pharmacy and picked up the same day for half the price the vet was charging. read more

Spent a while searching for a trustworthy practice to take my newly adopted kitten. VCG Glen Oaks had many positive reviews, so I gave them a try. My kitten had his first wellness visit yesterday and they were lovely! They were very gentle with him, calming his nerves (and mine! Haha) the entire time. They explained every step of the exam as they were doing it and explained the costs for additional studies before doing anything. Because of COVID, there is a strict no-visitors policy, but they have a telemedicine option, so you can video chat during the visit to be a part of the appointment and ask questions. I've been to VCG's other location before and just discovered that this is their newest location! My dog Daisy (a Yorkie-Poodle) needed a checkup and because my schedule worked out better with this location, I brought her in. The new space is bright, spotless clean, and friendly, just like the other location I visited for the first time. Our experience was not a positive one. All exams are recommended when you take your pet for an exam. Blood work, xrays, etc. and all us in addition to any other procedure necessary. Felt like when one visits an used car dealer. Will not recommend. We took our dog for a second opinion and the veterinary was concern after we explain all other exams the first vet recommended.The second veterinary doesn't charge for your pet initial exam and even gave the antibiotics needed for free. There are true loving people the take the oath to be animals because they truly love their profession and not to use it as a gold mine to benefit from living pet owners who many times feel they are st the mercy of so call professionals. read more

I've been bringing my puppers here for a few months now and I have to say this place is amazing. I have a 1 year old American bully who hates the vet and VCG in glen oaks has taken such good care of my baby! They have never turned him away. Although he can be so stubborn at the vet they have never made me feel uncomfortable. They answer all of my questions and They always try to help accommodate their schedule for Blu. They usually call before the appointment to make sure that we know the plan and have everything set. I am a nervous wreck and they always seem to reassure me and keep my baby safe. They truly understand my little guy and I appreciate all their love and efforts...Dr. Zheng and the staff are simply amazing. read more

Everyone was nice and treated my dog well. She is very afraid of the vet (any vet visit) and even though I could not be in the office during the visit I was able to see her and speak to the vet via phone. The only complaint that I had was that they wanted to charge 35 dollars for a nail trim when one of the shots I took her in for was 30. That is really excessive for a nail trim and when I used to bring my old dog to the vet they did not even charge you. When you spend almost 400 dollars at the vet the least they can do is trim the nails. Petco charges 15 and the mobile groomer who comes to my area is 20. 35 dollars at the vet? Really? Pros: Fit us in quickly for an appointment. Vet spent time with me on the phone. Reasonable temporary plan of action moving forward given the circumstances. Cons: 1) Asked multiple times in advance if they were picking my cat up from my car like at the other location I normally go to (ie Westbury). Also confirmed I would fill out all paperwork in advance so I didn't have to touch surfaces given covid19. Was told yes. When I arrived and parked literally on the sidewalk outside their office, they initially refused to come to the car and then tried to have me meet them halfway. Literally a few feet more and they could've gotten my cat from my car. I agreed because what else am I going to do? They also had me sign a receipt at the end of it all. Westbury e-mailed it to me previously after I had already expressed not wanting to touch things if possible. Not sure why they couldn't have done the same knowing I had expressed anxiety about Coronavirus. 2) The vet was unable to wrangle my cat who is admittedly difficult. I warned the person who scheduled the appointment, the vet tech that came to get my cat, and the vet before the exam that she was quite difficult and aggressive at the vet. Not once did anyone say or suggest they might not or wouldn't be able to deal with her until they actually attempted the exam. And I didn't think twice to emphasize or question more in advance than I already had because every other experience I've had at other locations (Westbury and Forest Hills) they have handled her with AND without a gabapentin pill in advance of her visit. In fact, when I initially came to VCG it was after another vets office couldn't handle her effectively with how aggressive she is. VCG forest hills did great with her, even unmediated. The vet did take 20-30 min on the phone with me to try to explain her thoughts and plan of action. She said the cat was too upset and she didn't want to upset her further by continuing to try the exam. I tried to explain this is her regardless and that she's getting more upset than if the exam had just been done. She claimed she was unable to examine her fully. When I pointed out my past experience with other VCG locations and them doing an exam when she's like this, she said it likely wasn't a full exams. If this is true, it's concerning since they certainly charged me the price for a full exam in the past. I can appreciate that she didn't feel comfortable and that's her call to make ultimately as the provider, but again I would never have taken my cat there if they had given any hint that they didn't have the same level of ability to handle my cat as the other locations. 3) I also was charged the exact same fee for the phone call as if they had examined her. Different label for the line item- same price. I get that she spent her time and I'm happy to reimburse for that in general. However, considering a vet in the practice at another location was kind enough to do a consultation call when my cat was ill but without any fee (except for the meds prescribed), I guess I wasn't expecting such a high price. I would've expected to pay maybe half the price of an exam since no exam actually occurred. I express this to the staff but no dice. I paid because I'm not going to not pay, but I wasn't happy about the amount charged. 4) The vet also made it clear my cat could only be examined under mild sedation, either doubling the gabapentin dose or morphine. I still didn't quite buy the necessity of this. Again, my cat has been going to VCG locations for over 2 years both with and without gabapentin, been highly aggressive and angry, and it has never been stated to me that this type of intervention is necessary. I was sort of coming around to maybe it's just what it is needed but was also frustrated that no one was able to explain the discrepancy properly to me given the overall practice's ability to handle my cat previously. In the end, she recommended to do some household adjustments and wait and see if the situation continues and if it does bring back in for sedation, which I was ok with. But was very frustrated with the other items listed. I spoke to the Westbury location where my cat now normally goes to try to express my anger and dissatisfaction as well as get more insight into why all of a sudden she has to be on something stronger to be handled and when I was having a hard time understanding, I was told my cat/I am no longer wanted at the practice. I have written a review for the Westbury location, as well, with further details on that terrible experience. I will update and respond to any attempts at reply by this vet office that are inaccurate, misleading, etc. and then obviously also let the tone of their reply speak for itself. read more

Took our dog Brandy there today for first time. We have tried other vets but haven't found "the one". Well we found them. We went here for Dr. Yee in Little Neck but ended up seeing Dr. Costa in Glen Oaks, due to traffic we were stuck in. Well we were thrilled. Dr. Costa was amazing, the staff was amazing, especially Jennifer who was in the room with Dr. Costa. If you need a kind, caring, awesome vet, look no further. I became a client of Veterinary Care Group Glen Oaks back in the summer of 2018 with my senior cat. Previously I had been a client of Dr. Andino's for nearly 17 years and of course followed her to Glen Oaks (although I live in Forest Hills). For me this a win-win-win situation!!!! The office in Glen Oaks has cool bottled water, coffee on tap and candy. But it is the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff which makes this office outstanding. Clear explanation of procedures and upfront costs. The fact Veterinary Care Group networked all their locations is one smart move. If I need refills or food I can just pop into the local office in Forest Hills and the front desk can pull up my pet's records. My senior cat passed away at the age of 19 earlier this year, the staff were so kind and supportive and made the adjustment for me so much easier. I now have a 13 week Tuxedo (see pics) and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else but the Glen Oaks office to see Dr Andino. I wish I could give this place 6 stars. Kudos!!! read more

She is soft spoken, gentle and exceedingly kind to both pet parents and her patients. The office is spotless and the staff is friendly and professional. The level of care is top notch. i am as picky as picky gets when it comes to my dogs and their care. from groomers to vet, everything has to be perfect for my babies. when I found Dr Andino a few years ago, there was no going back. she takes her time, and is so sweet with the babies. Just visited VCG Glen Oaks no hassle getting appointment. Greeted upon arrival by a attentive receptionist Jackie no wait time. We were escorted very quickly into the examination room by a lovely vet tech Jennifer who gently took our cats vital signs. Immediately the veterinarian doctor Julie Andino gave our sick cat an extremely thorough exam and explained all our options for his care. Unfortunately our cat who was 17 was exhibiting end of life symptoms and in distress and pain. We were informed with all options and chose to end his beautiful life and pain. We usually take our 4.5 year old pup Lucy to a vet in Roslyn, but we haven't been happy with the quality of service or the lack of patience they have with our dog who is absolutely terrified of the vet, lately. So after 36 hours of constipation, we decided to try out Vet Care of Glen Oaks today. We had taken our dog to one of their other locations as a puppy and liked them a lot, so we thought we'd give this location a try, as they were able to squeeze our dog in right away on a holiday week. Because of Covid, I had to drop her off at the front door and couldn't accompany her inside (this is the case at all vets in NYC/LI right now). The assistant who met us at the door was extremely patient with my terrified Lucy, was super sweet and gentle in trying to lure her in with some treats I brought, not rushing her at all. I waited outside and the vet (I forgot to ask but, according to my receipt, the vet was Dr Zhang) called me upon examining her. She was very interested in all the information I was able to provide her with all of Lucy's history, everything she eats, where we take her for activities, etc., in order to help make her diagnosis, and was very patient as she explained absolutely everything to me and answered all of my questions. This was such a nice change compared to the rushing through and disregarding of information I try to provide, that I'm used to at our old vet. Ultimately, the vet was able to offer a straight forward diagnoses, without a bunch of unnecessary, expensive, or traumatizing tests for my dog. She offered several suggestions/options for treatment and explained the benefits and necessities of each. I plan on making them our official vet from now on and am so happy we've found someone gentle with our dog who we can trust. read more

We were concerned because our dog is diabetic and wasn't eating. They gave us an appointment right away. When we got to the office their was no wait and we were greeted right away. The office is new, nice and comfortable. They spent a good amount if time checking our dog over and explaining everything to us.
