ZERO STARS!!!! Extremely Disappointed - Poor Communication and Unprofessional Behavior…read more
I was hoping to treat myself to a full set of eyelash extensions for Mother's Day and scheduled a same-day allergy patch test at 1:00 PM with San Diego Lashes in La Jolla, with the potential for a full set afterward. I had a past allergic reaction years ago, so I wanted to take the proper steps. Unfortunately, this experience was frustrating and deeply disappointing.
First, the location is difficult to access due to heavy traffic and very limited parking in their small plaza. Then, at 12:24 PM, I received a text from Christina, the lash artist, asking if I could come at 1:30 PM instead. I texted back through their office number that I was running a bit late due to traffic, and they acknowledged they would let the artist know. I arrived at 1:34 PM.
To my surprise, no one greeted me when I walked in. I waited alone in the lobby for five minutes before a young woman came out and casually asked if I was "waiting for someone." I explained I had an appointment for an allergy patch test with Christina and mentioned my past reaction. She asked if I knew the name of my lash artist, then said Christina would be "here soon" and walked away.
By 1:38 PM, I texted Christina to let her know I'd been waiting. Around 1:40 PM, another client arrived and, unlike me, was greeted and seated. Christina finally arrived at 1:45 PM, appeared rushed, and took that other client back--not me. A few minutes later, she came back and told me that because my original appointment was at 1:00 PM and she hadn't received a confirmation from me about the time change, she had given my spot away and I'd need to reschedule.
I was shocked. I reminded her that someone from the office texted me asking to come in at 1:30 PM and that I had responded through the official number. She brushed it off and said she didn't get confirmation directly, so she assumed I wasn't coming. No follow-up, no clarification--just poor communication all around. She offered to rebook, but by then I was already upset by the way the situation was handled.
What upset me most was not just the miscommunication, but the lack of basic courtesy: no greeting when I arrived, no clear update that my appointment wouldn't be honored, and then being talked about with sarcasm and laughter by the lash artist in the back room while I was still sitting there. That was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful.
This was my first--and definitely last--experience with San Diego Lashes. There are plenty of lash studios that are organized, respectful, and value their clients. I recommend looking elsewhere if you expect basic professionalism and communication.
To all the mothers out there--Happy Mother's Day. I hope your day went better than mine.
