So, there is a certain expectation level that you go with when heading to a Michelin star restaurant and Vermeer disappointed on many levels.
I went here for to celebrate a special occasion but it wasn't very relaxed with an incessant crying infant throughout the evening in the background.
Please don't get me wrong - The menu and the food were brilliant. The number of additional amuse bouche's and courses that you get with any choice that you make is impressive. One or two of the dishes were a little too salty but I was ok with it; my friends on the other hand couldn't enjoy those dishes at all as it was too much for them.
Where the restaurant fell short was on the service and the ambiance.
The service was not coordinated and well-managed at all - I would give brownie points for the effort but the laying and removing of the courses was not at the same time. Sometimes, we didn't get an explanation of what we were eating.
The ambience is beautiful but not very cozy. When we went in, we were next to a table with a crying infant so we changed our table but we could still hear the crying in the other part of the restaurant throughout our 3 hour dinner.
Bottom-line: good food but not "special" ;could do with better ambience, service. read more
