Having just bought an apartment here in A'dam, I was surprised to hear how easy it was to have staircases designed and installed. "no big deal' they'd say. Really? Seems like a big deal to me. In our new home, we need to remove one staircase and add another, to create another room. The previous owners gave us the name of the company that created their staircase (which was Verdonk Trappen). We contacted them to see if they could create a new one for us. The process has been seemless. A guy came to take measurements of the space. We were provided with a sketch and quote for how much the staircase and installation would cost. We ordered. We had a hole knocked through one of our walls. We waited in anticipation! The day the stairs were to be installed, our window for installation was before 1pm. No big deal, I thought, I'll just work from home and wait. 8:45am and the doorbell rings, the guy is here to install the stairs! It was a good thing, too. Since he really needed our help (mostly my boyfriend helped him out, as the pieces of wood were pretty heavy to bring up 3 flights of steps). Bang, bang, thank you, m'am. He was done in an hour. It was great to see a staircase being put together, too! The stairs we ordered are beautiful, fit perfectly, and the process was highly efficient. My only complaint is that they don't install the railings. Seems a bit odd to me, but we need to do that ourselves. Its doable, but seems a but strange. All-in-all, highly recommended. read more
