It is one of the reasons that I decided to base myself in Ventimiglia when visiting the Italian Riviera aside from being next to the French border. Reading reviews beforehand, the consensus is that is not as good as it once was. This is because a lot of the goods being sold are cheap items from China. I do concur with that assessment, though if you do like cheap stuff this is the place for you. For me, I tried to look for affordable Italian made items. There are some, but again the quality is not the greatest here. Though my mom did find a seller that offered Italian leather bags at a good price. You can also find some food sellers selling things like Italian meats, cheeses and dried pasta. It is a decent spot to check out if you are in the area on a Friday when the market is open. If only to take a stroll by the seaside, even if the offerings do not suit you.

Staying in Nice decided to do a day trip on a Friday for Ventimiglia's market. Stuff you would…read morefind in Chinatown in New York or Los Angeles. Except ventimiglia is kind of cooler because you are in Italy and this bazaar is along the water. Lots of scarves, wallets, food and the like. Didn't spend much time in the town itself so it may have more to offer than what I saw. Makes for a nice 40 minute day trip out of Nice if the trains are running on time. That's a big if so don't make dinner reservations in Nice, for that evening as your train may be late coming back.

It wasnt jam packed with stuff that you couldnt appreciate what you were looking at. The owner also was able to tell us a lot about each piece we asked about. She has armoires, chest of drawers, desks, tables, lamps and miscellaneous household goods. She spoke a very little bit of English as well. We purchased a beautiful oil painting from her and she carefully packed it for the ride home which was key for us!
